why is it that when i a take screenshot or video with fraps, my screenshot/footage turns out much darker than it was when playing?
Your decoder might be dark. Load it into a program or upload it to YT to test it.

I'm having second thoughts about getting this, have been wanting to get it for a few weeks now. I do plenty of gaming and 16gb of memory sounds like heaven, but is the price good for what I'm getting? 1300 dollars is a shitload of money, I don't want to spend that amount and not be totally satisfied with what I get
Unless you're working with extremely intensive 3D model programs, anything over 5 or 6gb is pretty pointless IMO
My Chrome keeps crashing.

Should I try reinstalling?

Apparently the crashing is common at the moment.

Hi, I need to buy an external hard drive to transfer some data to my new laptop, but I don't want to pay for a 500gb or 1tb one cause the data I'm transferring is only 50gb. Does anyone know a good site to order a reliable external drive that's only like 100gb? Thanks
Buy a flash drive.

NewEgg.
But if you want a reliable one, just get a 500GB one. Anything much smaller than that is going to be a very old drive, and thus less reliable. And they have some fairly good ones for nearly as cheap.

Make a shared folder on the old computer and connect to it with the new one and copy everything over. Not quite as fast, but costs $0.00.

Okay thanks. What's the difference between these two? They're both 500gb but one is $30 more. Should I buy a more expensive one or does it not matter

The WD one is faster, since it supports USB 3.0. And probably a bit more reliable - Buffalo isn't a particularly large brand.
Then again, most portable hard drives don't fail because of bad manufacturing, but because the user drops it or something. So you might be fine with the cheaper one. Particularly if you use the drive as your backup, so you still have copies of the data somewhere else.
I'd get the WD one because:
1. WD is practically the king of hard drives
2. It has USB 3.0 (which your new laptop will possibly have on it)

Why not just make a temporary network share and copy the files over the network?! It's free and you can do it right now. All you have to do is make a folder on the old computer, share it publicly, copy your files into it, go to your new computer, type the share name in the location bar (\\OLDCOMPUTER\share\name\here) and then copy the files onto a local folder on the new computer.

Yeah but the files are pretty important so I'd rather have an extra backup of them on an external drive
I'd actually get the buffalo because WD like to make the HDD inside the enclosure proprietary or simply purely USB. Not sure if that one is, but it happened to me and it's stupid.

Really? I've torn apart two external WD drives (don't quite recall the models) and they both used a simple SATA to USB/Power adapter deal.
Question for any of you who use XBMC.
I'm using the XeeBoo skin and want to add in a Comedians sub section for all comedy gigs I have.
I already have a Movies and TV Shows one, along with Music Videos, which I don't really want.
How can I remove Music Videos and add in the Comedians Category?
Is there an easy way to create something like those restore partitions you get on pre-mades/laptops that reinstalls the OS directly from it?
I've got a Windows 8 OEM disc and I'll be running it on a 32gb SSD with a 1.5TB HDD for software/storage, I figure it'd make sense to do something like this and it'd be pretty convenient to be able to just reinstall Windows without the disc. I don't know anything about backups like these and I've heard Norton Ghost is good for this, though I'm sure you guys would know some good and possibly free alternatives. I'm not sure if there's any special things that are OS-specific, either.
Well, Windows 8 has the "Refresh" (analogous to installing over an old install) and "Reset" (analogous to formatting and reinstalling):

what do you want said laptop to do
I have 2 questions:
1. Are questions about Air Conditioners acceptable?
2. Is it safe to store an Air Conditioner with the back on the ground?

Pretty sure it's safe, but it might have to be put upright for 24 hours prior to use, I'm only saying this because that's what you're supposed to do with refrigerators, and I assume some AC would use similar systems.

i'm about to order the logitech g105, but i'm not sure if i should shell out the extra money and get the g110 instead?

They're both pretty old and not really that good.

i'm not really looking for a super good keyboard, just something decent to replace this shitty $10 one.
i'm also very close to being broke, so that's just in my price range. do you have some alternatives, though?
