i'm not really looking for a super good keyboard, just something decent to replace this shitty $10 one. i'm also very close to being broke, so that's just in my price range. do you have some alternatives, though?
I'd recommend a Sidewinder X4 (Microsoft) over it. [editline]12th December 2012[/editline] Or, you can get a CM Storm Quickfire for about the same price in some countries - much better keyboard.
Fuck paying £50 for a keyboard. Just got this in the mail, works fine for a basic one.
My laptop only has one 3.5mm jack, and but I want to connect my headset to it so I can use skype. The headset has two jacks though, one for audio and one for mic, what can I do?
Yeah Sidewinder is good if you want all the fancy features, my friend has one and likes it.
sounds good, thank you all for helping me out. i knew it was a good idea to ask facepunch before deciding :v:

I ended up buying a USB hub for my desk at home, and I plugged THIS into it, along with a few other things.

are they both the same sound quality or some shit? sorry am not good with computer
Anyone know a high quality, reasonably cheap ($70-$100) desk microphone? I need one to record podcasts and my current one picks up all sorts of buzzing, popping, rustling and static from backround noise. It's a pain in the ass.

I think I'm going to combust. I sent my msi gtx 660 ti back to msi a month ago because it wouldn't display any video, and I was sure it was dead. They sent me back a 670 pe today and I put it into my asrock extreme 4 to try out, but that had the same problem, yet I'm using a 9800gt in the same slot I put the 670 in. So my question is, what even the fuck? [editline]13th December 2012[/editline] Am I REALLY unlucky and got yet another dead card or am I a complete idiot and not seeing something wrong that I should be?
What are the rest of your specs?
Specifically, PSU specs.
I got 175 euro left to pick a case + psu. Case requirements: usb3.0 with an internal connector. Cable management. Proper airflow and fans (or cheap enough so I can add my own) I don't have any requirements for my psu but I would prefer a modulair one. Anyone have any suggestions? specs: cpu: AMD FX6300 mobo: ASRock 970 Extreme4 gpu: Sapphire HD7770 ram: Corsair vengance 2x 4GB DDR3 1600Mhz HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200 1TB

Best USB mic under a hundred bucks I'd say. or the C01U

[editline]13th December 2012[/editline] I have the AT2020, it's amazing, but it pick up EVERYTHING it's a cardioid after all.
The way it's angled is rather key. The C01U might be better in this regard. Mine picks up lots of stuff but only my keyboard and desk sounds because my boom is mounted to my desk. Otherwise it comes out pretty cleanly. I do want to move to a more professional setup with a better boom for a bigger mic, or simple one with a built in pop filter.
What are the rest of your specs?
Ok, so my specs are as follows: Mobo: Asrock Extreme 4 CPU: I5 3570k Ram: 16gb Corsair Vengeance @ 1600mhz PSU: Corsair HX650 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139012 Thanks for the concern guys

I plugged the 670 into both pcie express slots, with the power cables connected to the psu, and the mobo didnt recognize the card at all in the system browser. The only video displayed was from the onboard chipset. I might try to update my bios later today and see if that fixes the problem.
Anyone got a good free driver detector? I'm sure one of my drivers is faulty but I cant pinpoint the bugger.
Anyone got a good free driver detector? I'm sure one of my drivers is faulty but I cant pinpoint the bugger.
devmgmt.msc?
My mother wants a tablet, she's currently thinking about the Kindle Fire HD but i've heard that the Android OS on Kindles are limited. Is the Kindle Fire a good choice or is there a better $200 tablet?
Referb TF101 on newegg.
Nexus 7 is a really good choice.
I bought my mother the TF101. She rarely used it. Bought her the keyboard dock. Can't put it down ever since. Also the 16 hour battery life with the dock is the greatest thing ever.
Bit of a complicated issue here. I'm currently running a 660 ti after just recently upgrading from a 460. So now the 460 is just sitting around. I know its possible to setup the 460 along side my 660 as a Physx card, which isn't a bad idea. The problem is that the only Physx intensive game I own is Borderlands 2, and I already destroy that game so there is little point to doing it. But I'm wondering if I can "dedicate" my 460 to just one specific thing. Like just anti-aliasing. So is it possible to have my 660 and 460 running at the same time and have the 460 handle just the anti-aliasing (or some other process like anisotropic filtering). Also I don't think my 550w psu can handle both gpus, but thats besides the point. Speaking of psus, what happens if there is to much "stuff" in the computer for the psu to handle? Like it doesn't have enough wattage? Will it just not turn on, or break things? I've tried searching around on Google but haven't found much If all else fails i'll just get a bigger psu and set it up as a Physx card.
Dedicating a card to physx is pointless.

And it's definitely not possible with current drivers. AA and filtering and the like are things that have to be done while rendering. Antialiasing, in its most naive form, is simply rendering at a higher resolution, then downscaling to fit your display. In theory, you might be able to dedicate a second to some post-process effect, like motion blur or ambient occlusion, but not only are those fairly unintensive tasks, but as they by definition run after the frame is rendered, it would only be run when your main card would otherwise be idling. Not effective unless one card is somehow better at geometry and shading, while another is better at postprocess effects.
Also I don't think my 550w psu can handle both gpus, but thats besides the point. You can also expect to fry your motherboard and CPU, perhaps even your GPU and RAM. Don't risk it. Besides, think of the electrical cost. A 460 sucks down 160 watts of power. And IIRC the 400-series doesn't idle particularly efficiently, so just having it plugged in uses power and makes heat. Unless there's a game you absolutely need a dedicated PhysX card for, or perhaps need another card to run all the monitors you have, keeping the old card in is pointless. Just keep it in a box somewhere as a backup, in case your 660 ever fries itself or something.
