I'd pick the 2nd option, that way the partitions will be properly aligned on the SSD (Assuming you're installing Windows 7 or 8 to it) and you'll have a nice fresh OS to enjoy.
No, you'll need to reinstall your applications. Just backup settings, save data, installers etc
if i'm going to just be using a microphone for games and voice chat (skype mumble etc), should i go for the blue snowball or the blue snowball ice?
I'm thinking of placing an online ad for removing ThinkPad bios,supervisor/poweron passwords. Though I'm not sure if there's a 'market' for it and how much I should charge. What do you guys think?
Quick question: I'm about to sell my laptop and I paid $40 to upgrade to Windows 8, and people here couldn't give a rat's ass if I take the key to myself, they all use pirated windows. So I'll take the key and use it on my new computer. Is there a way to completely wipe the key off the computer?

Formatting it will do the trick, too.
Probably better to use Parted Magic to perform a Secure-erase command on the drive.
I'll use Parted Magic then. Thanks.
Probably better to use Parted Magic to perform a Secure-erase command on the drive.
Parted magic is a zero-fill program. Not sure why I didn't recommend one... thanks!
Parted magic is a zero-fill program. Not sure why I didn't recommend one... thanks!
Instead of the computer just sending a load of "write zero" commands to the drive, the secure erase option just sends a "ATA Secure Erase" command to the drive, which will then overwrite and erase itself. This way, the erase isn't hampered by any restrictions from the OS, BIOS etc.
I'm playing on buying a mid-good table microphone for christmas, any suggestions? No heasets please, I've tried them and I find most of them too heavy and uncomfortable. Thanks.

Clip mics can be annoying imho. He also asked for a table microphone :v: [editline]19th December 2012[/editline] If you can nab a cheap snowball then go for it.
Thanks for that help, but I'd rather get a table mic as Flubber said. I feel that a clip mic would be uncomfy for me.

Would replacing my 9600 GT with a 610 GT be an upgrade, or should I just not bother?
Would replacing my 9600 GT with a 610 GT be an upgrade, or should I just not bother?
The 9600 is more than twice as powerfull.
Decided to give Everquest ® Free-To-Play. Your Way.™ a try on Steam, it ended up beefing services.exe up to a whopping 7GB ram rendering Windows extremely slow to the point of being unusable, had to boot into linux and rename the Everquest folder and then services.exe stopped fucking around. Couldn't find anyone else having the same problem with the game, anyone know what kind of despicable black magic Everquest unleashed upon my computer?
Is a 5750 more powerful than my 9800 GT EE edition?
-snip-
But we're talking about the energy efficient model.
But we're talking about the energy efficient model.
My first statement was false, its better than the 9800.

Two questions: 1. Is there such a thing as a male 3.5mm to male dual channel audio cable? As in the red and white things on TV's 2. What should I look for in a good wireless adapter? Are USB adapters just as good as the ones you connect to the mobo?

Yes: http://www.amazon.com/RiteAV-Feet-3-5mm-Stereo-Cable/dp/B000V0G2C4 2. I find that card adapters work better (due to the fact they have antennas), while most USB ones don't usually have them.

I have a 9800 GT from gigabyte and it is doing a great job. You wouldn't even notice how old it is :v:
I have a 9800 GT from gigabyte and it is doing a great job. If the 5750 has more power, I will get one from my uncle. if not I'll just keep my current GPU.
I have a 9800 GT from gigabyte and it is doing a great job. You wouldn't even notice how old it is :v:
Honestly, I could survive with my old 9800GT. My 570 does the job, and very well at that, but it doesn't really do anything the 9800 doesn't :v:
Question: I've got an old MIDI keyboard I'd like to be able to use with my computer. Back in the day, many sound cards had inputs for it. I can even find some of them for sale still. Problem is, my current desktop has no PCI slots (only PCIe), and I can't find any PCIe cards with this capability. And all the USB-based converters I can find seem remarkably sketchy. Am I missing something obvious here? Is MIDI now some obsolete standard? Is it normally handled by some other piece of equipment now (video card?)? Do I just really suck at searching? The keyboard isn't all that great - if it's cheaper to just buy a new one, I'm open to that. PS: OS X compatibility would be a plus, but not really mandatory.
