reposting from the Apple thread to see if I can get some help
I'm trying to jailbreak an iPod touch 2G I'm using green poison and it's running 4.2.1 as it should be, I put it into DFU mode and greenpois0n doesn't recognize it! it says "try again" I tried using redsn0w and that recognized it was in DFU mode but it's not able to jailbreak my iPod (MC mode, 8gb 2G) I'm getting frustrated here, what do?
[editline]21st December 2012[/editline]
So I am planning a upgrade to my pc after xmas, I was just going to clarify if these parts work together: Kingston DDR3 HyperX Beast 8GB http://www.komplett.se/k/ki.aspx?sku=768781 Intel® Core i7-3770K Processor http://www.komplett.se/k/ki.aspx?sku=660225#extra ASUS P8Z77-V PRO/Thunderbolt,Socket-1155 http://www.komplett.se/k/ki.aspx?sku=755311
Also yes, they should be fine
So, bought a can of compressed air, and I'm gonna clean my computer with it. It's content is of 350 ml, so it will not last much I guess. Any tips that I should have in mind before doing it?
Do it in a well-ventilated area, and make sure to get some good blasts around the hard drive and processor. Never go full blast near the hardware, keep that for things like the case and fans. Not sure how effective this is, but I've also found having a fan nearby helps redirect the resulting dust away from simply resettling in the case.

SHAKE. If you shake it, it might cause the can to dispense the air inside while it's still a liquid, potentially fucking shit up. Also wear some gloves, that can will get cold as antihell.
My pc has been acting kinda shit lately; its using way more RAM than it should, even for little things like browsing the web. I even had the task manager quit responding yesterday. What could be causing this?

Will that fuck it up too?
No he's referring to just before usage.
My gpu fan makes a very loud and distracting noise after the computer is on for a few minutes/hours. I have already cleaned the case and gpu from all dust and verified that there is no cable touching the fan. The only solution is to put the computer to sleep for a few minutes, when it turns back on then there is no noise until it starts again later. Do I need to buy new gpu? I have ati radeon hd 5870 and I have had it for 3 years. [editline]21st December 2012[/editline] Also the problem only started within last few months.
Does an AMD x8 FX-8350 generate a lot more heat than an AMD x6 1055T ?
I'm building my first computer and just did an external build that powered on. My problem is i can't take out the 24-pin power connector. i've tried pressing down the tab on the cable and pulling but it still won't budge.

Second opinion: Gaming screen 24" 16:10
Finally built my first PC thanks to you guys. My only problem other than my PCI-E 3.0 slot got torn off is that the hard-drive is a bit loud. Is that bad?
Depends on the harddrive. How loud are we talking here?
Depends on the harddrive. How loud are we talking here?
It's not really loud but it's still audible through my headphones when i'm not listening to anything.
Sure it isn't your fans? how close is your PC to you?
Sure it isn't your fans? how close is your PC to you?
About a foot away.
About a foot away.
Eh, that's iffy. detach the drives and see if the noise persists, it might be coil whine/a noisy fan
My computer has been bugging the fuck out lately. One night while playing CoH, I came back to my computer giving some crazy shifting blue-screen error. Looks kinda like a combination of the halo reach loading screen and a tron-esque blue, except it slowly progress to a black screen. Thinking it was my computer overheating or a virus, I ctrl-alt-delete'd, and it stopped. I went back to desktop and it began again. Queue two restarts and it kept happening, stopped on third restart. Today it happened again. Was playing a game just fine, went to alt tab and it started happening again. Went to crtl-alt-delete screen and it stopped. Logged off and it stopped. Logged in and it started again. To be clear, when this happens, I can't move my mouse or anything as the system lags unbearably. Shut down computer, removed GPU, cleaned dust off CPU fan and restarted. Happened again, this time right as I logged in AND at ctrl-alt-delete screen. Wanting to avoid further damage, I have shut it down fully. Here is a reallly really really low quality video of it happening, but it is the best I could do this late at night without waking the rest of the house up; recordedwithpotato.mpg What should I do? [editline]22nd December 2012[/editline] Oh and I have the following system config; i5-2500k 8GB RAM Galaxy GTX570 1280mb 650w PSU Windows 7 64 bit ASRock Extreme3 Gen3 mobo And 3 cases fans with a beefy CPU fan, never had overheating problems
so when you ctrl alt delete, it gets rid of it? sounds like a weird virus
so when you ctrl alt delete, it gets rid of it? sounds like a weird virus
It started doing it at Ctrl Alt Delete screen too [editline]22nd December 2012[/editline] Im going for nuclear option of reformat. [editline]22nd December 2012[/editline] I have nothing to lose, at least this way I'll know if its hardware or software. No important personal files or anything, those are on this laptop and backed up. [editline]22nd December 2012[/editline] ffs its doing it a bios now. Even removed HDD, and it still did it a bios. Computer is deed gents.
I'd assume it's the monitor.
I'd assume it's the monitor.
I'll check in the morning. But here are two more videos http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?a2j5lke0csy5bty (longest one, shows how it acts) http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?deracz1qwo3oudb (shorter one, shows how it started going to crtl alt delete)
start using youtube or vimeo or anything that's actually a video website so I don't have to download those, it sucks and yeah monitor is the most obvious thing it could be, test the monitor with another PC or test the PC with another monitor to verify
Better?
looks a lot like the monitor to me [editline]22nd December 2012[/editline] that or the cable going from your computer to the monitor maybe
What is the best free program that automatically synchronizes selected files and folders between two or more computers in the same local network? Like Dropbox, but without the cloud storage in the middle. It would also be great if it was compatible with both Windows and Linux.
Monitor is working fine now. Booted up and was able to play a game. I think it is an overheating issue, the monitor always gets hot. Im going to crack the case today and clean it out.
Anywhere specific? I mean I understand that it's best to lay it on the side the motherboard's laying on, but should I put down, say, a thick towel underneath it to try and dampen any vibrations?
Every day of work I transport 5 computers to and from an office over a distance of 1.5 miles each way, I have done this for over a year. The cases are considered expendable so visual damage isn't a concern so they just get put in the boot of my car without any particular thought to orientation or damping. Consider that these computers are getting pulled in and out of my car multiple times per day. They all still work fine apart from cables moving around and getting in the way of fans. Cable ties sorted that. My only concern for an "enthusiast" computer would be if it had a large graphics card or heavy heat sink, in that case I would definitely put it down on the motherboard side. Possibly even take out the graphics card if it's a big dual slot thing. Hard drives are pretty good at taking some abuse when they aren't in operation. Make sure you haven't left a CD in as if you put it on it's side the vibration may cause the disc to drop inside the drive and lock the drive up (I've had this happen) Don't worry.
