What's the difference between these two processors? I don't know how these retail packages work, will it come with a heat sink or thermal paste?
Is mixing different RAM brands bad? I have some Wintec ram that isn't really sold anywhere anymore (this might be it, not sure but it looks the same). If I got a different brand at a faster speed (1600 MHz) would that be bad? Should I get 4gb more and add that in my system or buy 8gb and get rid of the Wintec?
Just an FYI, when mixing RAM, it will underclock the faster RAM. So when running that 1600Mhz RAM with the 675 Mhz RAM, it'll all be running at 675 Mhz. Honestly I'd just remove those DIMMs and replace them with the 2x4GB kit. [editline]28th December 2012[/editline]
I don't know how these retail packages work, will it come with a heat sink or thermal paste?
typically they come with a heatsink with pre-applied thermal paste.
Trying to choose a new graphics card to upgrade to. Currently have an Nvidia 260, and I'm looking to spend 200-300 on a new card. Thinking that this is a possibility. Just wondering if this is a decent card for the price, because I see various other 660s on the site that are $270-350. I have to buy it from Best Buy, because I recently got a $100 gift card to there. Or, if I should save a bit more and get a more expensive card Second, just to be completely sure: It says "PCI Express 3.0 x16 Interface" and "Provides compatibility with a range of systems. Backward compatible with PCI Express 2.0 motherboards for broad support." That should mean there will be no problem with me switching my card from the 260 to a newer card (at least in the sense of plugging it into the PCI e thing on my mobo). If someone wants to be a total bro, could you explain what I am missing out on if I do have a 2.0 and not a 3.0 port?
I've connected my monitor with HDMI cable and now I have black borders around my screen in some games if I play them on lower resolution than 1920x1080. Running on HD 6870. Nevermind I found the solution. If anyone is wondering I unticked "Enable GPU scaling" option under the Properties (Digital Flat-Panel) tab.

Generally, Best Buy overprices the hell outta parts but that's decently enough priced. If you could manage to trade the gift card for $100 to someone else, then get an HD 7870 from Newegg, the same price (~$230) and it outperforms it in most situations.
Never buy something on Best Buy that's marked as a "Marketplace" item. You're buying it from a different company through Best Buy. I bought a laptop that was marked as a "Marketplace" item, it didn't ship three weeks after I purchased it. I called Best Buy and they said they can't do anything since the company can ship it whenever they want. [editline]28th December 2012[/editline] You're better off paying the extra $65 for a 7870 (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/VisionTek+-+AMD+Radeon+HD+7870+2GB+GDDR5+PCI+Express+3.0+Graphics+Card/5390136.p?id=1218637207420&skuId=5390136&st=7870&cp=1&lp=1) directly from Best Buy.
Oh and the performance gain when using a 3.0 card in a 3.0 slot over using it in a 2.0 slot is like not even half a percent greater, it's just mumbo jumbo they decided to update. Most cards won't even saturate the bandwidth of a 2.0 slot.
Every xbox in my house, wired or wireless connection, randomly disconnects from LIVE. I looked into it and I believe it is a re-authentication timer. I have a belkin router, and I can't find the option to change it. Any help?
Windows keeps asking me for the admin to approve things that I'm doing. I'm already admin and I have no password, so it's just a pointless little box that pops up every time I do something asking me if I'm SURE I want to do mundane shit. How do I turn this off and tell Windows 8 to stop second guessing me and become my bitch.
disable uac
whats good backup software for windows if you have an external hard drive for it
I'm building a new workstation and would like to know if there is a much of a performance difference between the old i7 970 and the new 3930K? Also, I doubt any will know this but can you put liquid cooling an Antec Sonata IV case?

Since installing my new graphics card, my display keeps starting to wobble after every few minutes. I can stop the wobbling by pressing the auto button, but after a short while it comes back. I've checked the cables and that the graphics card is inserted right, and neither of these seem to be the problem. Any thoughts?
The 3930K is a third faster. I'd assume that it also uses less power.
I don't know if I can justify getting a new motherboard and CPU if it's only a third faster. It's about $800 AUD for both. Given that nobody has responded to my second question, I'll try rephrasing it, can you attach a liquid cpu cooler to any case with 120 mm fan?
I just got windows 8, but I want to install it onto a new SSD. Would I have any compatability problems if I installed to the new SSD, changed the new drive to primary boot and then manually removed Windows 7 from my current SSD? Will I be running into driver problems?
How the fuck do you forward your ports? I've never been able to do it. I just want to host a server so me and a friend can play co-op. I need to forward the following ports: TCP: 27015-27039 UDP: 1200 2700-27050 If it matters, I don't think my IP is static and the game I'm trying to play is E.Y.E. - Divine Cybermancy.

You aren't putting your static, external IP, right? It is most likely something of the form 192.168.1.*** [editline]29th December 2012[/editline] I'm asking because you blacked it out, but it should be a local and unroutable IP which you shouldn't need to hide from anyone.
yeah I was using my external IP before. I changed the IP address to my local IP and still same result.
Some low-power graphics cards can power themselves off the 25 watts the PCIe connection provides.
It is 75W, not 25W, just a reminder. I haven't been able to find the youtube player resizer (to 720p) from anywhere anymore. Anybody got the one what works with the new youtube? I lost mine when I reinstalled windows.
Maybe the port checker requires the server running, Is it running? Maybe it can't handle UDP for some stupid reason? http://portchecker.net/udp.php Maybe your ISP blocks that port for some reason? Just throwing some ideas about.
Just got my zalman zm-mic 1 in the mail and I immideatly noticed how there's a background static noise, how do I fix this?

What steps should I be taking to lower my GPU temps? Any recommendation on fans/coolants for cheap? (It goes up to 75-80C during heavy load)

Err, should I be concerned that I have duplicate processes running? There's several different things that appear to be running more than once [t]http://i.imgur.com/Sfjoi.png?1[/t]
