I've been getting a lot of blue screens here lately after installing my new 7970. I've noticed that my hardware is at the following temps when I load back up. (I5 2500k reads at 28C, 7970 reads at 40c) or could it because I'm not getting enough power to the hardware...
I got a 850W (very old psu, was good quality at the time.., got it ages ago for an original Q6600, 8800GT build).
Current specs
ASUS P8P67 Deluxe
I5 2500k stock 3.30ghz, but it does turbo under a heavy load to 4.0ghz. Has Evo cooler on it.
Sapphire 7970
2 HDDs
5 fans
my case is a fractal design mid-tower.
I don't really know what the deal is, it is cooling or just not enough power..
Have you reinstalled drivers?
So I have 3 monitors connected and I want to play some half life at 5760x1080, only problem is one gpu is a 9600gt, and the other is a 4670. Is there any way to run Half Life, or any other source engine on all my screens?

I'd just suggest getting a 660 or a 7950. You can't really do much with 3 monitors and a 9600gt or a 4670, I'm sorry to say.
Is there a way to even run 3 monitors at any resolution? attempting -width -height only lets me go up to 1920x1080
Is there a way to even run 3 monitors at any resolution? attempting -width -height only lets me go up to 1920x1080
Well you could probably run 3 monitors at 1366x768 on the HD 4670, as far as I know the 9600 GT doesn't have 3 outputs. It has to detect the 3 monitors, but they have to be set to the same res on a game. Windows will work with differen't resolutions, but games see the 3 monitor as 1 big monitor, so they res will need to be the same.
It says it also has a PCIe 3.0 x16, and that should work with any card as long as it's not AGP or something :v:
Oh ok I didn't know if it was backwards compatible or not.
I currentlly have 3 19" monitors coming my way and plan to set up a triple screen layout. no my question is:
can I run them off my 1 radeon 6850? if so what do I need to order adapter wise?( 2X DVI, 1X HDMI, 1X DP)

You should be able to do it, but one monitor has to be connected to display port.
What happened to the 5770?
[editline]30th December 2012[/editline]
And I don't think there's anything as powerful as a 5770 for 60 or less, new.
[editline]30th December 2012[/editline]
You might get lucky and find a new 7750 for 60, they're just a little more than it. I only checked Scan. If you're a part of other forums (SA, overclockers, whatever) I'd check there. SA Mart has tons of good deals on GPUs all the time, though it's usually just from US sellers.
First off, I disabled the Windows graphical boot screen so I just have 4 blue lines appear when it's loaded.
When the initial Windows boot screen appears and finally loads there is a line of messy graphical stuff next to the blue lines, it goes no further than that.
It's happened previously but I took out the GPU, cleaned it and that fixed it until now.

Have you tried SoftTH?
It's not foolproof and for some games it doesn't work at all but it does work, even across multiple brands of cards.
Have you reinstalled drivers?
I did, I updated to the newest beta drivers.
I may just do a complete format and fresh install just to eliminate that as a problem.
So is the 7750 on part with the 5770?
I've been having bluescreens a lot and I reckon its from the PSU overheating, the fan seems to not be exhausting any air, and everytime i crash the PSU is the hottest component in the PC.
The brand of PSU is AXP, its 650w~.
Anyone know if this brand is trustable?
AXP? Never heard of it, unreliable.
Gonna swap it out for an Antec, Corsair or CoolerMaster, gonna up the wattage a bit in case.
Going to buy a SSD for christmas. It's a Sandisk SSD with 64 GB capacity. I'm going to use it in linux.
The thing is, I'm going to use it on a somewhat old MoBo:
Manufacturer: ASUSTeK Computer INC.
Product Name: P5SD2-VM

Will it do any kind of bottleneck/problems?

Check if the drive speeds exceed SATA II. it'll still work either way.

Sec. Read: 490 MB/s
Sec. Write: 240 MB/s
Rnd. Read: 7200 IOPS
Rnd. Write: 1800 IOPS
I don't think there will be a noticeable loss in speed
You can always get a PCIe SATA III card if you need it

Okay, thanks.

Getting this on my roughly two weeks old Seagate Barracuda Spinpoint, this is to replace the first one I was sent, which was DoA. Anyway to figure out exactly what's wrong with it? It's not dead yet, but looks like I'll have to send it back as well.

Have you tried adding -windowed -noborder to your launch options?

Run a check disc. It's probably fucked cause that's what my caviar blue did after a power surge.

Ok, now I'm confused. Windows glitch?
Hey so is this a major problem, when my CPU and GPU hit 90°C my fans all of a sudden stop working, then when I stop any CPU or GPU intensive program, and the temps hit 70°C my fans start to work again, is this a major problem? Also I'm on a laptop if this helps.
