Since it's on a laptop you may be able to change the LCD scaling options in the BIOS as well.
Does anyone know how to convert MKV to something PS3 compatible and keep softsubs or at least convert them to hardsubs? whenever I do it, it ends up with walls of text if a subtitle is on somewhere other than the bottom of the screen.
Anyone have any suggestions for 5.1 surround sound speakers ( UK ) main requirement is that the rear 2 speakers are tall ones one their own stand also being under £300. I looked into: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007NXA9KI/ and the blu-ray player that connects to the speakers appears to accept optical in which I am asuming I can hook up to the soundcard I have ( using Dolby Digital Live to allow 5.1 to be sent via the cable )
The AMD has 8 cores and the 970 has 6 though. [editline]4th January 2013[/editline] It might be true, but that doesn't explain much. The 970 is pretty powerful though. It's render times matched a dual Xeon 5550 machine (HP z600)
You'd be great AMD PR
Just use a media server on your PC if possible, much more convenient.
I tried that but it is really laggy even when its plugged right in to my computer. plus im going to be without internet later so servers aren't really an option
I tried that but it is really laggy even when its plugged right in to my computer. plus im going to be without internet later so servers aren't really an option
if the server is on your local network (meaning it's your regular computer) you wouldn't need internet just as long as your PS3 and your computer are on the same network (same wi-fi, same router, whatever), even if it wasn't hooked into the Internet you'd be alright
I mean there is absolutely NO wifi or internet. cant connect to my computer either because im moving my PS3 to my grandmothers. is there just a simple conversion program that's compatible with CCCP? [editline]3rd January 2013[/editline] [THUMB]http://puu.sh/1JgQj[/THUMB] thats what im dealing with. Any Video Converter Ultimate sucks for converting soft subs to hard subs
Just use a media server on your PC if possible, much more convenient.
I personally recommend TVersity. If you want a free option, PS3 Media Server is pretty good.
Why exactly is my 4670s gpu usage going up and down so much? the other gpu (9600gt) seems to be idling fine.

So, refunded my OCZ Petrol because it was faulty and I thought, maybe it is my motherboard that doesn't support SSD's? My motherboard's name is P5SD2-VM from ASUS, which uses AMIBIOS, the BIOS for american megatrends.
Bit pricey but good quality.
Overspending for what you get. No PSU with only 2 PCI-e connectors should be over $100, that's just ridiculous. The XFX 650W semi modular is $100 with a $10 rebate and is far better for the price.
Is it worth buying a new mobo and i3 2100 (a £120 upgrade) or should i stick with my i3 540?
I think you should at least get a 500w one or a 600 w.
Do you think I would need a higher power PSU if I were to have duel GPUs in the future?
Do you think I would need a higher power PSU if I were to have duel GPUs in the future?
two 6950s? yeah, you'd probably be fine with 650w depending on your CPU and if you overclock, but 750w would be safer.
So I'm looking at maybe upgrading to Windows 8, on my netbook which is still on XP. However, on MS's site, the minimum screen resolution is 1366x768 or something like that, does anyone know if you actually need to meet that? My screen is only 1024x600...

I've noticed my CPU fan do the same thing on my old computer, I say give it 5 more seconds to see if it spins back up.
nothing would happen to your CPU if you idled with the fan off for that long, especially from a cold boot

Thanks <3
nothing would happen to your CPU if you idled with the fan off for that long, especially from a cold boot
As long as a cooler is on it, don't forget to mention that. Doing the same without any passive cooler is a far more dangerous game.
