I'd be pretty scared too if my heatsink started spinning around.
no matter how much warranty i have on the processor, i still worry about frying my i7.

I'm pretty sure you could take the heatsink off and start the PC and it wouldn't break assuming thermal throttling / shutdown hasn't been disabled.
It's working fine for me.
I'm hoping to build a gaming mini-ITX in the near future. I really enjoy the idea of a discrete and compact powerhouse. What are some cons of going for such a build?
Aside from the obvious, such as minimal flexibility, potential heating issues, and troublesome building, what are some reasons NOT to go for an ITX? And more specifically, are there any performance issues I should be worried about when using an ITX mobo?
Down below are parts I have been eyeing. Prices should continue to fall so I may upgrade some of these further down the line.
This seems to be right around $999 when including the price of an SG05.
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/vLrT
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($169.99 @ Microcenter)
CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H60 74.4 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($44.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: ASRock Z77E-ITX Mini ITX LGA1155 Motherboard ($144.99 @ Microcenter)
Memory: Samsung 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($39.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Crucial M4 256GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($184.95 @ B&H)
Video Card: PNY GeForce GTX 670 2GB Video Card ($299.99 @ NCIX US)
Case: Silverstone SG05BB-450 Mini ITX Desktop Case w/450W Power Supply ($119.00 @ NCIX US)
Total: $1038.90
From what I have researched, heating is never really an issue with the SG05 and people have done some very acceptable OC's. Should I be worried about anything performance wise with a Z77E-ITX versus, say your average fullsize ATX? What will I be sacrificing when going for a mini-ITX?
Is there a program that's able to convert PS2 saves into a format that PCSX2 can read?
Price and limited pci/pci-e slots are the only real negatives.
So I've got a new graphics card and a new monitor. I've hooked up my old monitor for a dual monitor setup, but the old one is flickering a lot. It does it when it's the only display plugged in too, however it stops flickering when I lower the resolution to 800x600. I've reset to factory default and moved the monitor away from other electronics so neither of those are the issue. The only thing I haven't been able to test is the cable; it only has a vga port and my graphics card only has a dvi port, so I've isolated the problem (as best as I can) to the dvi-vga adapter. It'll be a few days before I'll be able to order in a new adapter so I was wondering if there's anything I can try until then?

how are you getting the ps2 saves?

make sure it's screwed in tight enough that all the connections are good, sounds like poor cable shielding / the shielding isn't making contact to a ground or something.
Because its actually being used, why do you have a 4670 and 9600 in the same pc?
4670 runs my left monitor, 9600gt runs the middle and right monitors
I don't understand why though, that why a gpu that is running less monitors is the one being used more.
how are you getting the ps2 saves?
My PS2 using FreeMCboot, i tried some program called mymc and everytime i start it up i get an error saying "MSVCR71.dll is missing".
Got it working now, can't import the saves since they're not valid files.
Edit: Never mind, i fixed it.
I saved the files in a different format so MYMC could read them and got the saves working on PCSX2.
Thanks for trying to help though.

I've rechecked them and they seem to be screwed in as well as they can be. The VGA cable is also new, so do you think that could be an indication that the dvi-vga adapter is faulty? It's pretty old, now.

Well things like that don't just go bad, what resolution is the old monitor? Are you running it at the right refresh rate? If it's just the backlight flickering it might just be a monitor problem. What exactly is flickering?

It's 1440x900; I'm running it at 1280x800 right now with no issues. What refresh rate should I be using?
As for the flickering, rows of pixels are shaking from side to side.
60hz, try auto adjusting the monitor, I don't know what else to say but some people on other forums reported the same thing on other gpu,

if your monitor can use DVI just go get one of those, since it's happening at only your native (and the highest res) it leads me to believe it's a shielding issue but I don't know
Heh, funnily enough I'm using a HP w1907 and he's got exactly the same issue as me. I've been using 60hz and auto adjusting doesn't fix anything. Unfortunately it only supports VGA. I accidentally ordered a dvi-vga cable yesterday thinking that I'd need it dual monitor so I guess I'll see if that's the issue on thursday when it arrives. On the adapter I'm using, the screws are incredibly stiff so I wonder if it's just not completely screwed in. Either way, I'm completely unable to do it any more (spent about 15 minutes trying to tighten it earlier). Very irritating! :(
Is it normal for a gpu to do this?

The Clocks are jumping between ~450 and 1000 MHz.
This was while watching a youtube video.
I just HAVE to make sure. Does a 1156 cooler fit on a 1155 socket CPU? My mobo is P8Z68-V Pro gen 3, from ASUS.
Yeah, it should. Google says 1155 and 1156 have the same mounting holes.

Alright, I googled too but I just wanted to make sure with you guys :v: I have this cooler I thought I couldn't use, but looks like I can use it now!

Can you do a "ping 10.30.0.1"?
it's not as simple as some other converters but it's one if not the most powerful tool for the job
use it alongside MakeMKV and you have a very powerful set of video conversion tools
imo it's probably one of the most well organized and cleanest looking, i understand it a lot better than anything else

Thought I'd let you know how it worked, I've got 30 degrees with no load now, instead of 60 :v:

GPUs have several power saving presets which change the clock rate, so It will just be switching from one to another.
Uhh, got six leftover screens from a communal office, any suggestions to what we can use them for? I'm thinking of using some of them as additional screens on my stationary pc (arma 2 : D), as it supports 4 screens.

Grab a few for your PC and one for a backup screen if one breaks or you are setting up a LAN party/going to a LAN party/Friend needs to lend one.
Warning to everyone: never go for the cheapest tower option or you might end up like me: with a computer that sounds like a vacuum cleaner having unprotected sex with a saw mill.
So it turns out my booting problems wasn't caused by a dead GPU as it still doesn't boot with a new 7750 in it.
So naturally I thought it must be the Motherboard but then I ran a Ubuntu install disk and that is running fine at full 1920 x 1080.
So I start thinking some more. Could it really be my SSD?
Oh look, I can view the contents of my SSD fine in Ubuntu..
I get my Windows disk and restore to last backup point. Still doesn't boot.
What is the freaking problem!?
Oh wow. I just left it on the black screen for a while and it actually booted..
I have no clue what caused that but it boots properly now.
I've got the i5 3570k and I'm using the stock cooler
is there any cheap coolers on amazon that will give me better temps? or should I not bother?
and I mean really quite cheap :v:
