[editline]5th January 2013[/editline] It did destroy my fingers trying to hook the fan to the headsink though.

Would a single 660ti be able to handle gaming over 3 1920x1200 monitors?
Would a single 660ti be able to handle gaming over 3 1920x1200 monitors?
it can run on three afaik, but the fps would be low on most / you'd be running at low settings [editline]5th January 2013[/editline] is samba considered the best network file sharing thing right now? cross platform. [editline]5th January 2013[/editline] this samba stuff looks complicated, is there an easy guide to sharing a folder / drive with this on windows, and then connecting to it through linux? [editline]5th January 2013[/editline] nevermind i like totally misunderstood this
Quick question, is keeping the pagefile on my new SSD actually a bad thing nowadays with TRIM and whatnot, or should i look into disabling or moving it to my HDD? Disabling causes memory issues i've heard, but i Have 10GB and i've never used more than 4 (40% on my G15 screen, rough guess i suppose)
Move it to the HDD instead, pagefiles are being written onto quite frequently and will degrade your SSD faster. [editline]6th January 2013[/editline] To be honest, disabling pagefile is completely safe these days since nearly all programs that I come across doesn't have dependencies on it anymore unlike older days. If you do actually run out of physical memory, you're in a bit of trouble.
Is the i5 3330 a bottleneck to the GTX 660Ti?
So, I'm running a somewhat old desktop by now, but it's holding up good, and I just upgraded the GPU. It freezes sometimes though, and I think the new bottleneck might be the memory. So, instead of buying more and larger RAM, I've been thinking about upgrading to 8 (currently running Vista), as it is better optimised. Just wanted to ask you guys if I'm right in thinking that it would be a good idea. I'm having Vegas Movie Studio laying here now. I used DXtory to record some test footage but it appears I can't import .AVI files? What is up with that? (64 bit by the way)
Depends on the encoding. I suggest using Handbrake to convert them.
How would I go about that?
Anybody remember the program where you could chose what programs you'd like to install from various categories and they'd all download and install straight from the program?
Anybody remember the program where you could chose what programs you'd like to install from various categories and they'd all download and install straight from the program?
Ninite.com [editline]6th January 2013[/editline]
How would I go about that?
Download Handbrake, run the files through it. What to convert to I'm not so sure at the moment, haven't used Vegas since version 9 I think. Ask BRT.
Ninite.com
That's the one. Brilliant, thanks a lot.

Thinking about purchasing this http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np6350-clevo-w350etq-p-4897.html?wconfigure=yes It's around $1000 with shipping to the UK, can anyone recommend a better alternative, primary uses are gaming. Would prefer UK based company, or somewhere that ships cheaply to the UK.
Is there some free software that allows me to record my webcam and keybind record button? [editline]6th January 2013[/editline] It's to make the video footage and camera easily symmetrical.
What sort of programs would benefit the most from being installed on my SSD? (Other than the OS)
Programs with lots of HDD use.
What sort of programs would benefit the most from being installed on my SSD? (Other than the OS)
Everything you use on a regular basis.
Which is better for SSDs, IDE or AHCI?
Which is better for SSDs, IDE or AHCI?
AHCI
Quick question, is keeping the pagefile on my new SSD actually a bad thing nowadays with TRIM and whatnot, or should i look into disabling or moving it to my HDD? Disabling causes memory issues i've heard, but i Have 10GB and i've never used more than 4 (40% on my G15 screen, rough guess i suppose)
I've had my pagefile.sys on my SSD for 3 years and it's still going strong. I just set the min to 1GB and the max to 2GB since I have 4GB of RAM. I don't think it gets used often but when it does it has speed benefits from the SSD.
I'm looking for a good ultrabook. Mainly something I can do work relating things on (I do music, so programs like Sibelius and Protools (Audacity and Reaper) is a must), as well as social and media. Should be able to run a casual game (looking at Civ V mostly). Touch screen and SSD are optional. No budget. Something with an i5 processor, plenty of ram, and a decent amount of storage. I have my eyes on Asus and Lenovo mostly, but I'm up for anything. Any recommendations?

[editline]6th January 2013[/editline] Having it on the SSD also provides a massive speed boost for programs that use it.
Why is it that you can easily tell the difference of 30 fps and 60 fps in game, but once you record it at 30 fps, and watch it, you can't really tell if its 60 fps or 30 fps?
