As far as light Linux distros go is Lubuntu or Xubuntu better?
Lubuntu (LXDE) is slightly lighter but Xubuntu (Xfce) is better polished.
Though, I would recommend Linux Mint Xfce over Xubuntu.
I'm thinking of getting An ASUS G75, the reviews I've read say it's pretty cheap compared to other gaming laptops but it's still pretty expensive. Considering that I pretty much use my laptop entirely for gaming and treat it like a desktop should I get the G75? Or can I do better with something else?
So my laptop is pretty much fucked, and I'm going to do a system restore. I can't get into any accounts or really launch Windows in general, is there any way I can move the data on my hard drive before I do the restore?

Just use a live operating system like Ubuntu live CD
I forwarded ports 6667-6669 and it tells me that the connection is timed out. Am I forgetting something? I made sure that there was an exception in windows firewall.
Facepunch, should I buy this keyboard?
I know it's gimmicky to all shit, but I kinda enjoy keyboards like this.
My current keyboard is a Logitech G19 which has served me well, but due to it's LCD and USB ports, it requires a power supply that's currently dying out, I also believe some wires are damaged.
Other then that, it's just getting pretty old.
So what I'm wondering is if the MadCatz keyboard is actually as functional as the G19, if it's just a complete gimmick with a barely functional macro / screen system, or if I should really just go for another keyboard all together.

I would personally love to get a proper mechanical keyboard, and for the price of that MadCat you could buy such a high quality keyboard. But inthe end, do what you want, you'll be able to warn other potential customers if it turns out bad.
Is there any laptop for £250 or below that could run Bioshock 1 & 2, source games before 2008 and Black Mesa well?
USB or line in jack heaphones?
Sorry about being late. Mini Jack Headphones, connected in the back of the PC.

oh man that thing is like a desk tumor
I'd reccomend something along the lines of a K90, has a nice amount of macros, is far cheaper, better build quality, I could go on for days
So, I just started my semester, and I really want to buy a tablet.
I want to go for an iPad, but I don't want to buy one and then suddenly Apple releases a new one in March. But if I wait until march, I'll only have one month left of the semester left anyway.
There is also the Google Nexus 10 I was considering, but who knows if google will have it in stock anytime in the decade.
Should I just buy an iPad now, or wait until March? Are there any loopholes I can use to buy an iPad now and somehow return or sell it in March and upgrade to the latest one? :v:
It's worth considering that if you wait until March for the next iPad and you don't think its worth the price, the current iPad will be a bit cheaper. I don't know if that makes it any more worth it to you, though.
I can't say much about the Nexus 10 but my dad's 7 is pretty sweet so there's that.
I don't think there are any loopholes for that kind of length. I bought a 2nd gen core i5 MBP over the summer and they announced the updated model a week later. They let me return it, but I think it was all just inside of a very short time frame when they will allow it.

You can't go wrong with an iPad for the most part. Obviously it will feel well built and will feel smooth to use.
I want to get a Nexus 10 since I consume a lot of media and my 7 inch Nexus 7 is a little too small. Though the 10 has some reported build quality issues.
Apple will release one, when was the last one released? 9 months ago or something, they are due to put out a new one soon I bet.

I think I would prefer an iPad over a Nexus device in this situation because I also have a mac laptop which I use for school, and I just think the iPad has better/more developed apps for note taking and academic stuff in general.
The last iPad was released in November which is still pretty new, but the industry is saying they will be releasing a new one in March already (along with retina display iPad Mini), so the 3 month old iPad will be obsolete soon.
Oh god those iPad Minis are so shitty. Too big to put in your pocket or hold in one hand, too small to have a keyboard of 1:1 size, awkward sized to try to put on a stand and use two hands with. Just horrible.
Way to exaggerate. It can be fit into some pockets, but why would you want to put it in your pocket idk. And they can EASILY be held in one hand, you must have really tiny hands.
I have a Mini and it's much better than the normal sized ones, imo.
Yeah I played around on a regular iPad and then an iPad mini today, and I loved the iPad mini. I actually preferred it, I just think the larger one would be better for handwriting notes.
However, I think it's bullshit that Apple didn't put a retina display into the iPad Mini. It's the only thing stopping me from buying one right now.
But Apple knew people would buy it anyway, and then buy it again once they add a higher resolution display. :suicide:
The new Minis should have Retina from what I've heard.

You called?
But in all seriousness, I would go the Asus transformer route over the nexus line. The TF300t and TF700 are the same apart from the screen resolution. IIRC they perform better than the nexus 10. It is also nice to have the option to buy the keyboard dock and effectively turn it into a netbook with a 15-20 hour battery life.

If you increased your budget to £300 you could just about afford a laptop with a amd apu in it.
Something like: http://www.amazon.co.uk/CQ58-201SA-15-6-inch-Dual-Core-Discrete-Class-Integrated/dp/B009FZNA9E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1358248852&sr=8-1
It won't be blazing fast but it should run unreal engine games fairly well and source games should have no problem.
Any thing I delete goes to my recycle bin, then a second later disappears from recycle bin

What's the best music organizer? I have build up a library over quite a number of years but I would really like to organize it better, like have everything broken up into albums and have artwork downloaded so when I put everything on my Galaxy S2 it will all be there. So what program should I get?
RealPlayer

Spotify.

unless your looking for an answer like iTunes or something
You might be looking for something like TagScanner (http://www.xdlab.ru/en/), although you'd have to find the proper album art yourself.

Spotify doesn't organize your music; rather, it tends to fuck up the tags for some music for me. I see a lot of wrong album art (even though I've included the proper album art in the MP3 files themselves), and sometimes even wrong tags.
Well I have all my music in the Music folder on Windows so it would be nice to get all the correct artwork for everything in that too since it looks pretty nice when scrolling through. So a program that I can import the Music folder into that will get all correct information and album and make those changes to the files in the folder instead of just in the program itself.
Anyone else having problems with Chrome since the last update? Tabs keep randomly freezing and refreshing/loading them again/opening them in a new tab doesn't work either. This happens on both my main PC and my laptop.
Hello again, guys. I know I'm being very annoying with these questions, but I'm disappointed that I bought a SSD and I'm getting no good of this, so I remembered FlubberNugget's (I think) advice and saved for a PCI Express SATA 3 card so I can fully use my SSD. I've searched around and this site seems good and sells one for a pretty fair price. What do you think of it?
http://www.camera2000.com/es/pci-e-pci-express-to-sata-3-0-esata-3-0-adapter-converter-card.html
Thanks.

Also, more important question, will it work at BIOS level? I mean, will I be able to boot it (the SSD connected to the PCIe), manage it, etc.?
Guys, I recently got a new case, the thing is the cable for the front panel USB 3 connectors is different to the connectors on my mobo, a quick search on scan seems to show that the USB 3 connectors on my mobo are out of date.
This is my case.
