Could anyone help me with this please? It sort of got buried in other posts
It's a matter of opinion, but I wouldn't want 1080p on a 27".
Is there a way to do this is if my BIOS doesn't have a fan control option?
I'd expect there to be some kind of 3rd party software that let you do it, but I'm not sure.
Hi guys got a quick question. What do you think of these? Acer AX1935-UR20P Gateway SX2370-UR10P The instances I might use it are not limited to being a file server, game server, test player in gmod, or a media center. I'm just generally looking to find a small computer that I can mount to the side of my desk and has a mid-range CPU and GPU. [sp] or APU[/sp] Any inputs?
Would it be smart to have a 256gb msata installed with an ssd that has the os installed?
Blower cooled GPUs or Dual Fan?
You should go with the blower coolers if you don't have as good ventilation in your case.
When my laptop is off, every time I flip the lid up, it turns itself on automatically, is this to do with the fact it's windows 8? It's just pretty much rendered the power button and power off option useless
When my laptop is off, every time I flip the lid up, it turns itself on automatically, is this to do with the fact it's windows 8? It's just pretty much rendered the power button and power off option useless
I'm not familiar with how windows 8 handles system shutdowns, but I assume that the power button you're using is set to put the PC to sleep mode or hibernate and opening it is waking it. You should be able to change the settings in the control panel or power options somewhere.
Can you run an ITX system on battery power, if not is there any way to get a laptop board with a laptop CPU without pulling apart a laptop?
Can you run an ITX system on battery power, if not is there any way to get a laptop board with a laptop CPU without pulling apart a laptop?
Yes, with something like a pico PSU, but you're going to struggle with longevity if you are limited for space. My calculations for an ITX laptop (in a pelican case) were around 1 hour ish with the biggest capacity Li ION battery I could find for sale that would fit. A car battery on the other hand would be great, but hardly portable :v:
Carry an UPS with you.

It's just pretty much rendered the power button and power off option useless
Windows 8 (by default) doesn't fully shutdown the system, but does a sort of hybrid-hibernate where the user session is closed but the kernel is hibernated. It (supposedly) speeds up the boot process because the kernel and drivers doesn't need to be loaded again, just resumed from hibernate. To stop this, you might want to disable 'Fast Startup': http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/6320-fast-startup-turn-off-windows-8-a.html
Is this thing worth anything? http://www.panelook.cn/LB065WQ2-A11B_LG%20Display_6.5_LCM_overview_3807.html because I have two. How would I power and give it an input through the little golden ribbon cable? is there some sort of adapter for it? one site is selling these for $198 so there must be some sort of way to use it
so I have a coolpix s6100 and i plug it in and nothing happens. trying to upload pictures for my lost cat and it just doesn't even show anything. is the cable broke or something? i checked it and it doesn't look like there's any frays or any of it's bent
What do you think about the stock cooler on the 3570k? I'm not going to OC it so temps should be fine but what about noise?
What do you think about the stock cooler on the 3570k? I'm not going to OC it so temps should be fine but what about noise?
Why did you pay the extra money for the overclockable version if you're not going to overclock it? And the stock cooler is fine unless you really need it to be as quiet as possible.
Why did you pay the extra money for the overclockable version if you're not going to overclock it? Any answer to my question?
I have no idea how to read SMART data, so is this good? Reason I ask is because recently my hard drive specifically has been balls slow. Accessing stuff not cached in RAM has taken an absurdly long time. Opening a new tab in Chrome after not touching it for a few minutes took up to 30 seconds. Before defragmenting, that random read speed rate wasn't even reaching 2 MB/s. (After defragmenting I haven't done anything intensive enough yet to notice a difference, but I will soon) I'm just wondering if it's fine now or there's something more I should be worrying about.
If Speedfan doesn't control my stock case fan, but can control my GPU fan, if I install a case fan that has customizable fan settings would Speedfan change the speed? I am kind of scared to test it because it's really really loud and I don't want to sit next to a jet engine while I try and troubleshoot
Is the power cable connected.
found the problem :downs: apperantly if you put the cpu in the wrong way shit happens. my memory is completely blacked out of that place though, so I can't remember if I did it or not.
Does anyone know how to create keyboard shortcuts in Windows? I have Windows 7 64bit. I sometimes want to save a screenshot, but I don't want to bother pressing the print screen key and copying it into Photoshop and saving it. So what I want to do is create a command that automatically takes a screenshot and saves it into a specific designated screenshot folder. I'm thinking about making the command ctrl-shift-print screen. Is this feasible? If so, how would I go about doing it? (I apologize if this question doesn't belong here)
you have to use another app for it. try puuush, don't know if it supports it though, go check it out. also zscreen or smth should have it.

If it's just hooked up the the power supply, there's no way of controlling it and it'll just run at its designed speed. But if it is plugged into the motherboard, then you should have a settings somewhere in the BIOS to enable automatic fan speeds, but if not then I'm not aware of any quality software that lets you control motherboard-connected fans because I've never had to (and I'd just get a hardware fan controller if I was interested), I run all my fans at full speed (but they're all also only 1000-1500 RPM so they're still quiet enough for me.)

Is there any decent way to convert .mkv files to play in iTunes?
Which would be better, Quadro 5800 or Quadro 4000? [editline]21st January 2013[/editline] What do CUDA cores do and are they important?
Is there any decent way to convert .mkv files to play in iTunes?
VLC media player has a converter tool built in, you could use it to convert it to mp4 (ios supported)
Why are you considering a Quadro card? And CUDA cores are what the card uses for GPGPU code and shaders.
Why are you answering my question with another question? It's because I need a card that produces 1.07 billion colours instead of one which pretends to. This not for a gaming rig, my GTX 660 ti already handles that. It's for a Maya workstation which also does compositing.
