I have around 688 dollars since birthday and stuff and I am considering making an upgrade. What graphics card should I get? And any other things I should upgrade? I mainly want to upgrade the graphics card so I want to put most of the money there.

I think I have a corsair TX 650W V2 Bronze as PSU.
Also I just bought a new keyboard, headphones (Waiting for modmic) and a mouse, so I don't need to upgrade that.

670 would be a good upgrade.

I know, but I am not sure which one to get. I can afford the most expensive one, which is around 700 dollars. The one with ~4GB memory.
Here's a list of all the 600- Nvidia cards at the internet store I want to buy it from Do not mind the ACIII campain thingy, that's not why I want one.

Hi
I'm in the UK, and I really want to buy a SNES, and the UK SNES looks weird, and looks more like the japanese famicom version
Will a UK SNES play US SNES games? because it looks like all the good rare games were made for american ones only, with weird cartridges

Personally I would buy the EVGA 670 (2GB or 4GB) {should be able to get a 10 year guarantee from their website}
The 4GB will only be needed if you play at really high resolutions (1440p/multi monitor) and/or love texture mods.

What's the difference between ASUS, EVGA and all those things?
What's the difference between ASUS, EVGA and all those things?
They customise the cards clock speeds, ram size, cooling etc. and then sell them.
I like EVGA cause most of their cards have a single fan which vents air out the back of the PC. Everyone else seems to just think moar fans is better, and you end up with like a billion fans on the card blowing air all over the place.
EVGA tend to have sexy looking cards aswell and you can't argue with a 10 year guarantee.
Alright. I'll get that when I've done all the things necessary first.

I have no idea how to read SMART data, so is this good?
Reason I ask is because recently my hard drive specifically has been balls slow. Accessing stuff not cached in RAM has taken an absurdly long time. Opening a new tab in Chrome after not touching it for a few minutes took up to 30 seconds.
Before defragmenting, that random read speed rate wasn't even reaching 2 MB/s. (After defragmenting I haven't done anything intensive enough yet to notice a difference, but I will soon)
I'm just wondering if it's fine now or there's something more I should be worrying about.
I still really need an answer to this. Because if I need a new hard drive, I have to know now.
Also I've been doing some hard drive intensive stuff and it's still rather slow. Faster than it was before, but still painfully slow.
P.S. I prop up my laptop on a wii remote when I'm not using it so it doesn't sit on this nice wood table in front of me and cause heat damage. Sometimes I bump it as I get up and the wii remote flings out from under it and the laptop hits the table. One time it happened really hard and it's never been the same since. (Even though it has fall protection that should keep it from getting damaged.. You know, like the head(s) parking whilst not in use)
However, aside from mass slowdowns, I haven't experienced any other symptoms of hard drive failure, like corrupted/missing files, strange noises coming from it, etc.
Alright. I'll get that when I've done all the things necessary first.
I have that same EVGA card, don't get it.
It gets loud as hell when playing games, get something that doesn't have a stock cooler like the Asus DCU II version.

Okay now I am confused what to get.
[editline]21st January 2013[/editline]
Also should I get the TOP or OC?
It's using a reference cooler, those are known to run louder and usually hotter than non-reference cards.
And there's really no point in getting TOP or OC cards, it's more than likely you can get better overclocks on your own. The only reason to really get one is if you want to spend the extra money for a slight but stable OC, which really isn't worth it imo.
Why are you answering my question with another question? It's because I need a card that produces 1.07 billion colours instead of one which pretends to. This not for a gaming rig, my GTX 660 ti already handles that. It's for a Maya workstation which also does compositing.
Because there are a lot of people who ask that question thinking that a Quadro is just an extra-powerful GeForce, planning to use it for gaming. So whenever anyone asks about Quadro (or FirePro) cards, I make damn sure that they actually know what they're getting into, and aren't just some dumbass gamer who thinks expensive = better.
Anyways, I'd lean towards the 4000. Even though the 5800 has a lot more raw power, the Fermi design is a lot more efficient so I would expect much closer performance than the raw numbers give you (I couldn't find any specific benchmarks in my brief search, but I found some anectdotal evidence in favor of the 4000). Plus, the price is a lot lower (on the sites I checked) and the 4000 has double-precision compute. The only downside is the RAM difference - do you think you'll need more than 2GB on the card? If so, the 5800 might be your best option - the only other 4GB+ cards are the K5000 and 6000, both of which are much, much more expensive.
Hey, if I have CS5 legally on disk, but its for mac, do you think I could get it for PC?
My mac is full up and slow and old and I would want to get my nice adobe software on my P.C.

The PC and Mac versions are sold separately, sorry.

I don't really need more video RAM, as the resolution is only going to be 2560x1440 not 4K
If Speedfan doesn't control my stock case fan, but can control my GPU fan, if I install a case fan that has customizable fan settings would Speedfan change the speed? It has a 3-pin that connects to the motherboard and a 4-pin to the PSU.

I've never heard of such a thing. I would say you should only need one or the other, but they usually just make fans 3-pin and include a 4-pin molex adapter, so it's only possible to hook it up one way.

This probably belongs in PC building, but it's only a small (and very important) question. Would I be able to upgrade to an Intel i5 3570K with this motherboard and setup?

And if not, what's the best thing I can get for that board?

Ok, given the 3-pin only has one wire and the page says "Custom Made Cable For Fan R.P.M Detection", you're not going to be able to control the speed using that 3-pin connector and hooked up directly to a PSU, it's just going to run full speed. You need a hardware fan speed controller.

No, not without modification at least and even then I think some games will still moan and complain if it detects the lockout chip being disabled. You will also need an adaptor for American snes games because of its different shape whether modified or not.

Plus NTSC runs at 60Hz whereas PAL runs at 50Hz, meaning some US games played on a UK console will run slower.

Plus you will have borders because 576i (Often referred to as PAL) has 96 more lines than the 480i (NTSC) system. I hate poor conversions in older systems.
I've been looking at cases around the size of my current one (HAF 922) with carry handles, and I recently found the Corsair Vengeance C70. Do you think it'd be a good buy? Also, do you think the Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 2 would fit in it?
When the physical memory reaches 50 %, it automatically changes the Windows theme from Aero to basic.
I even told it to never change it if it reaches too high memory.
Why is this happening and how can I prevent it from happening?
My set-up:
Intel i7 2700K @3.5 GHz
8 GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce GTX550Ti

Surprised no one has replied or rated this post.
That motherboard is a AMD one, meaning that you cannot put a Intel CPU in it.
You can put a FX 8350 in it though, which is comparable, and some times can out perform the 3570K.

Eugh I hate when windows decides to switch to basic for no damn reason.
[editline]22nd January 2013[/editline]
I've don't see why it would change based on your ram usage though.
Well I think that is why, it's been very close to 50 % when I've looked right after it happened.
