Normally I'd say that's something checking for updates at an interval but every 2 seconds would be too short of an interval for something like that

Plus it says that it does not ship with an OS, so that's going to be annoying. Plus if anything goes wrong, Vibox doesn't look like a very nice company to do customer support with

I guess it'd just be better for me to build it, but it's pretty likely I'll fuck up somehow that's why I was looking at pre-builts.

Or maybe it's the motherboards' fault. Not sure which of them causes the thing to be so difficult to push in that I fear I break something.
Tell that to Intel's stock coolers.
They aren't that bad, especially if you expect it [editline]10th February 2013[/editline] And yes, building will get you a FAR better PC than that, Myalt22.
Tell that to Intel's stock coolers.
what is everyone's problem with the pushpins I've been on this forum for like four years and this is a recurrent topic that still baffles me [editline]10th February 2013[/editline]
I've got a budget of about £700. Windows media player just launched for no reason. Am I screwed?
Windows media player just launched for no reason. Am I screwed?
You probably just hit some media button, like "play", on your keyboard (or a key combo that maps to it - Fn+DownArrow does it for me), which by default launches WMP if it isn't already open. Happens to me every so often. If your keyboard has such keys, that's probably what happened.
Windows media player just launched for no reason. Am I screwed?
You have a virus, delete System 32.
So I've bought a new monitor last week [Asus VS248H] because my other one is pretty screwed now and I thought I'll buy a 24" screen this time. Now my other monitor is CCFL backlit, and since I hear all the praise about LED screens I decided to give it a try. Now that I've got it, I got a couple issues with it. For one, it's really fucking bright, and the colors aren't really what I expected, compared to my other monitor [Asus VW195D]. I've obviously tried setting it, but then I either get washed out colors, or I get like a dimmer screen which is still uncomfortable to look at. So now I'm planning on returning it and getting some other monitor. I come here to ask, is this high brightness specific to LED monitors? (Are they meant to be this bright/Are they usually this bright?) After I've looked more thoroughly through the reviews of this monitor, it looks I'm not the only one that's getting this issue, so I plan not to give up just yet on LED monitors altogether, so I'm looking at the following for a replacement: http://www.amazon.co.uk/BenQ-GL2450HM-Widescreen-Multimedia-Monitor/dp/B005OPLG0O/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top http://www.amazon.co.uk/BenQ-GW2450HM-inch-Full-Monitor/dp/B0081VNAUM/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1360428343&sr=1-1 Or else a fallback to CCFL: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-24-inch-VH242H-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B001TH8OYW/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1360533506&sr=1-1 Any ideas/suggestions/help ? Basically I need a good monitor to replace my old one, and because I'm going to get a new rig soon so I just replace everything. I'm focused on games so I need good response times, something around 24" and around 150 quid. Suggestions to any other good monitors than those specified above are welcome.
I've got some photos that I deleted off my iPod but are still showing up in iTunes on that little bar that shows what's taking up space, any better solution than restoring it?

Also if you are buying a monitor, there is a good chance the panel is an LG, so why not just go straight to the source. Samsung also makes panels, but they charge a good bit more.
I'm tired of my shitty laptop microphone and everyone is saying how they hear static. I want to get a decent microphone that I can buy that won't have those annoying static. I'm just buying the microphone separately. I do not currently have a budget, but low cost would be nice. I'm not using for singing and stuff. I can't sing for my life anyways.
So I've been looking into getting a new router for myself. I don't know much about them but I heard that the Asus RT-56u was really good. Link: http://www.dabs.ie/products/asus-rt-n56u-black-diamond-dual-band-wireless-n-gigabit-router-7F06.html?refs=50626&src=3 Just wondering if anybody has any experience with this sort of thing. Also what are the advantages of having a good router? Currently my internet knocks off when I refresh a lot of servers, which I read is caused by having a bad router so I guess this would fix that, but what else? Improved speeds or anything?
I've had a lot of good experiences with D-Link routers. They're very stable and have nice features. Also aren't very expensive either so I'd recommend them to you. I have a D-Link DIR-655

It has dvi and d-sub. If you need hdmi, I believe there is a version with it.

I'd definitely recommend it.

Only thing I'm wondering is will there be a big difference from a stock router I got off my provider? Does it improve speed or is it just better for range and allowing more connections to me made at the same time? Which is what I'm assuming is what causes my internet to die when I refresh server browsers
Whats the quietest low height socket 775 heatsink available?
what case and what height? You could possibly get one of those closed-loop CPU water-coolers.
Guys do you think 128GB RAM is enough for a video editing PC? Or should I get more?
Guys do you think 128GB RAM is enough for a video editing PC? Or should I get more?
First I must ask, is this a serious question?
Guys do you think 128GB RAM is enough for a video editing PC? Or should I get more?
32GB would be plenty.
32GB would be plenty.
Even then it's probably far more than enough for someone that seriously pondered on that question :v:

So it can handle many many requests all at once. So maybe think of it as a single cpu versus a quad core cpu. It won't die when you throw it a bunch of bandwidth.
