how long have ivy's been out / why are there only 3770 reviews (and not 3570)
What's the best bang-for-buck Intel CPU/MoBo combo to replace a Q9450? I'm fairly out of the loop with processors.
I plan on getting a 3570k this summer (well, hopefully) to replace my Q8200. Dunno what mobo but depends on how fancy you want it to be I guess. Do you want ARMOR and little tiny fans INSIDE THE ARMOR or just a regular mother board?
Also if you have DDR2 ram you're going to need to get some DDR3.
Does this build look OK?
NOTE:
I want a single core CPU
I want the PSU to be SeaSonic
I have a GPU already

I'm well aware of requiring DDR3, I'm just a little perturbed that most of the motherboards for 1155 Ivybridge appear to be ASRock, I thought those guys were a budget spin-off of ASUS unless things have changed?
Any ideas from experience when the next price drop will be for the GTX 680's? And how much they will drop by?
I've just watched videos of it maxing out Battlefield 3 and Crysis 2 no problem and realised i need to have it.

they'll be cheaper at the end of the financial year I guess.
Actually, i think the 670 might be a better option. It's $100 less and only gets a few less FPS than the 680.
the GTX 670 would be a good choice.
G500 has 3 thumb buttons
Not really related to his question, but I've never used the third button. It doesn't even work in most games.
I'm getting tired of my old CRT piece of shit TV. The audio is eh and it's too dark to play any games so i was gonna ask where i could buy cables to hook my PS3 up to my monitor and one so i could use my headphones?
Also, How exactly do i do burn in?, do i just leave my headphones on for three days straight blaring rap music or pink noise?, Can it be done in sessions while listening to them?
Is it possible to use a 4870 for a primary graphics card and then have a second graphics card for more display outputs? I have this 4870 lying around and want to use it in my dad's computer, except he wants to use 3 monitors.
EDIT: The second graphics card would be from a DIFFERENT generation, ie 6450 or 6670 or something. The second card doesn't need to render anything, just function as an output. If that won't work, can we get a suggestion on a cheaper graphics card that supports 3 displays? Most he'll be doing is Flight Simulator X.

headphone break in is a made up term from the folks at head-fi. There is no such thing.

:effort: you are bad, assign it to a key if it's not working in your games.

yeah, real burn-in is your ears getting used to your headphones sound

I'm pretty sure I asked a few months ago, but this is now and i'm like a week or two from buying.
How does it look for the price?
really bad, go with intel. A i3 is better for gaming, cheaper, and leaves upgrade room for the future.

Plus I'm not sure how that gpu is, try getting a 670
This is in playback devices in Windows 7.

That happens to be my monitor. I didn't install NVIDIA audio drivers (I don't remember exactly what it was, but my monitor is HDMI, but it doesn't have anything with sound so I didn't install that).
I used to have an ASUS Xonar DG but after some issues with drivers I decided to go back to on-board sound. That's when I noticed this. It was probably there before, too, but I didn't notice it.
So my question is, how do I get rid of 9 times my monitor in playback devices, when it shouldn't even be there in the first place?

They'll drop when GK110 (675, 685) release around September.

Also are PCI slots being phased out? None of the higher end '77 boards seem to have them, which is a shame because the Essence ST is a PCI and slightly better than the STX (PCIe), along with having the H6 expansion.
I got a sapphire amd hd 6870
it won't turn on, except for the fan
with the 2 provided mole to pci-e connectors or the one pci-e my psu has and one mole to pci-e
i have a 470w psu, which should be enough

So my problem is this exactly:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/cannot-connect-when-using-lg-hbm520-bluetooth/f78584cf-6b26-4dcb-b169-fc8609ac233f?msgId=98ba290d-18f3-48b4-b761-53686627b850
Except I'm not using a premade Dell. What I've assumed is that some update to Windows 7 in the second half of 2011 redid how Bluetooth works, or something, and that's why I can't get my headset to work.
I've tried reinstalling my bluetooth adapter drivers, and that didn't fix it like it says in that support thing. What do?
Can someone tell me the difference between AMD and Intel and nVidia and ATi? I don't want a biased opinion.

AMD owns ATi
[editline]11th May 2012[/editline]
different strokes for different folks, not much difference in the cards released around the same time, nvidia has a lifetime warranty i think
In my experience, AMD is the cheaper alternative and great on a budget build. You can get an AMD card with the same performance as an Nvidia card but a little cheaper in price. You do miss out in things like PhysX and stuff. I always prefer Nvidia and my next processor will probably be an Intel.
Anybody know of anything compatible with the Asus transformer that allows for video input? (Such as from a standard composite connection via RCA)
If not, I have a USB video input device that works in linux - Maybe I'll dual boot ubuntu on this thing.

I map the middle thumb button to my middle mouse button. Since clicking on the middle mouse is a pain on a wheel.
And makes opening new tabs easy.
So is there a big difference between nVidia and ATi or is it just opinion?
So is there a big difference between nVidia and ATi or is it just opinion?
Mostly opinion, as far as gaming, although nVidia does seem to be doing better right now. That's likely to change, though - they've traded places many, many times over the years.
When it comes to non-gaming things, there are differences. AMD (it hasn't been ATI for years now) cards are apparently much better at bitcoin mining, and nVidia cards are really good at floating-point GPGPU stuff.
One other thing worth mention is AMD's integrated graphics, on the Fusion processors. Since they're literally taking their dedicated-card designs and putting them on the CPU die, they get *much* better performance than Intel's integrated graphics.
Actually, even Intel has one advantage - Linux support. On Linux, AMD's and nVidia's drivers are *shit*, and the open-source replacements are often worse. Intel's the only one with really good support.
I need a wireless adapter for my desktop, I'd like to buy just a solid cheap one at Best Buy or Microcenter or something, does anyone know which would be a good one to get?

Buy this.

I bought mine years ago and the signal is incredible. Super easy to use utility and drivers install and work in like 15 seconds on Windows 7.
I bought this but Brt's looks better.
