Wouldn't this mean my max download speed is 3.30mB/s? Because in my bitorrent client it won't go higher than 330kb/s. No download for .torrent, or in broswer will go higher than 340kb/s. I don't know much about speed, although I wish I did. I understand I could Google it myself, but I just thought someone here could answer my question and I could learn a thing or two. Thank you. :v:

One Byte is 8 bits. So you are getting the speed you should get with 3.3Megabits/s.

Thank you, I didn't think about it that way. I feel pretty stupid now actually. Thank you again.

Hmm, hardware problems :suicide:
I was re-doing the cable management of my PC earlier.
When I turned it back on the main fan for my cooler stopped working. (The 4pin one.)
I'm still idling at 35C, but why is this? How can I fix it?
[editline]31st August 2011[/editline]
It appears as if 2-3 of the 3pin fan connectors aren't working either, but if I plug the fans straight to the PSU using a molex adaptor they work fine.

oh and a smell of burning.
Firefox has been really clunky lately, and a look at the active processes tells me that it uses more than a gigabyte of RAM. Got any clue as to why?
Is there a dedicated 'router' linux distro with like a web page activated by default for port forwarding and stuff?
i mean a distro for a PC not a distro for a router or something :V
I think I have heard some stuff about this

How do I set the BIOS up to boot from an iso on an SD card/USB drive?
Thanks
What's the difference between PCI Express 2.0 and PCI Express 2.1? Would I be able to use a 2.1 card in a 2.0 bus?

there's your problem
good luck with that
What's the difference between PCI Express 2.0 and PCI Express 2.1? Would I be able to use a 2.1 card in a 2.0 bus?
You can use any PCI-E card in any PCI-E slot, it's all backwards compatible, but very few 2.x cards won't work with 1.x.
i have a windows 7 home premium cd key but only the install disk for the 32 bit version
where can i get my hands on a 64 bit iso? i hear torrent versions usually add crap you don't want to the OS
PCI-E 2.1 is just some of the features of PCI-E 3.0(unreleased as far as I know), integrated into the 2.0 revision.
Any PCI-E 2.1 card will work in a 2.0 slot.

Credit to Shadaez for finding this before.

Just wondering, my family gave me an HP Pavilion Elite HPE-500y, and I need to replace the graphics card in order to play anything semi-decently (it came with a Radeon HD 6450, plan on replacing it with a 5770), and it needs a new PSU as a result. Now, can I go about replacing these parts, and how difficult will it be (for a first timer)?

I can't see the graphics card as being much of a problem, but it will probably be a pain in the ass replacing their PSU with yours because they might have really weird cable management which would be difficult to undo

Such as?
Also, I'd like to do this myself for free, rather than having it taken to ShitSquad for $10,000, the latter of which my parents prefer for some odd reason. Might anyone have some compelling reasons, other than the cost?

I'm not sure, I don't know how they might have arranged it and stuff
It's definitely doable yourself, but the PSU replacing might be a bit fiddly
I recently bought CoD:WaW, and am getting really low FPS.
I'm playing 1440x1080 maxed settings.
CPU: Pentium D 945(Best CPU that can go into my shitty motherboard)
GPU: 768MB GTX 460
RAM: 2.0GB Single-Channel DDR2 @ 266MHz (4-4-4-12)
I overclocked the Pentium D 400mhz, and in game I only get about 80% CPU usage in each core. GPU usage doesn't really go above 50%.
Would this be caused by my horrible, horrible RAM?
Wouldn't that CPU bottleneck the hell out of the 460?
I don't think it's a problem with the CPU bottlenecking the GPU in this case(although, I know it IS bottlenecking it).
5 years is ancient in computer tech
you need a new CPU and new RAM

What should I use instead that I can still hook up to my iPod then?

most media managers can mount ipods in this day and age, please stop using that as an excuse for using itunes thanks

It wasn't an excuse, I seriously didn't know that there were other programs that could sync with iPods. I thought Apple would be "evil corporation" enough to prevent something like that, guess not.
Thank you for the recommendations. I think I heard of foobar before so I'm going to try that.
I don't think it's a problem with the CPU bottlenecking the GPU in this case(although, I know it IS bottlenecking it some).
That's a massive bottleneck actually. The Pentium D was a terrible series, and should be forgotten.

Yeah those usually cause fuckups with me.
Plus at some point I intend to use iTunes' "Make a 128kbps copy of all higher bitrate songs" button, soon as the as-is copies fill up my classic (which could be any variable length of time from now).

what exactly are these "fuckups" you mention, i've had nothing
what exactly are these "fuckups" you mention, i've had nothing
It varies.
Sometimes half the songs I tell it to copy don't copy. Sometimes I get corrupted files (anywhere from a few seconds of static or other garbage to it not reading at all). Once I managed to brick the thing entirely.
I know this sounds like a bad cable, but with the exact same cable in the exact same port, whenever I sync with iTunes, it works.
How durable are normal hard drives? I have an old 160GB one which has been sitting on my desk and has probably been dropped once or twice and I'm wondering if it's still functional?
