CPU's underclock when not utilized, try give it something to do while checking, Prime95 will work.
im famous!
Okay my Bios and CPUZ says my CPU multiplyer is 9, but my nvidia control panel says it's 9.5. What the hell.
I wouldn't worry
Yea I'm trying to OC my E8500 to 3.3 ghz for now. I'm setting my FSB(qdr) to 1466.6 so my speed will be 3.3ghz almost exactly. I'm not sure what my FSB:Memory ratio should be, by default it's 800mhz when my FSB 1333.3 mhz. Should I do a 1:1 ratio? Sorry I'm really new to OCing.
Do you have a P35 motherboard? It's a known issue displaying 9x multiplier when it should be 9.5x if so, don't worry. And yes you want the ratio to be 1:1, although if you want a 3.3ghz overclock on a 9.5x multiplier you need 347mhz on the FSB, you should be able to handle 4ghz on a P35 with little voltage change assuming you have a decent cooler, the E8500's are champs, I have my E8200 at 3.3ghz on a P31 with stock voltages, see if you can go higher.
I'm using a nforce 780i. If I have just a 9x multiplyer I should have the FSB at 366 mhz right?
Yes, multiplier x FSB = frequency. 366x9=3294, basically 3300.
Think I'll need to increase my voltages at all or can it just stay on auto? Thanks for all the help, I gotta go to bed now. Peace!
Wireless signal shows as a full five bars until I connect. Once connected it stays at five bars for a few minutes then suddenly drops to 1 bar and the internet slows to a crawl. Windows 7. Using a signal booster on the floor below. Brother in the room next door to me is running the exact same specs as me but does not experience the issue. What's going on?
If my motherboard doesn't complain that there is no hard drive connected when I test boot with RAM and CPU, is it broken? Like, should I try and add the blank hard drive and OS installation boot disk or is the motherboard dead?
Got a new laptop recently, and the antivirus trial on it ran out, any suggestions on good antivirus software? Inb4 navashield

Want to install Chrome OS on my netbook, have a spare hard drive can I just swap out my one with XP then install Chrome OS then be able to switch back and forth just by changing hard drives?
CPU's underclock when not utilized, try give it something to do while checking, Prime95 will work.
Hey I explained that already :(
Is there a way to increase my desktop PC's sound volume higher somehow? Volume is maxed out in the drivers, on Windows, and the volume wheel on my headphones is maxed, but it's still too quiet.
Is it possible to upgrade the video card on the HP DV7-6178US Laptop? If so... How?
Well, I don't normally post in here, usually to avoid looking like an idiot, but I'm having trouble with a REALLY simple problem that I just can't figure out. I'm trying to host a small Killing Floor server for a few friends and myself. Considering the fact that I'm not used to port forwarding at all, and this was the first time I was going to do it, I decided to use portforward.com to do it, thinking it would go smoothly (Here's a link to the page I used for my router). I followed all of the directions correctly, but it ended up not working right, giving me a "UDP Port Conflict" error message, while I have no idea what's causing it. If anyone could help my retarded self, I would be incredibly thankful.
Recently I had a new disk drive appear randomly, labelled Local Disk (Q:). I have no memory of creating this, nor do I know how it was created. When I try to access it, I get a message stating "Q:/ Is not accessible. Access is denied." Shouldn't be any access problems, as I am the only administrator (only account for that matter) on my PC. Also, it says it is 0 bytes and contains nothing. What do? Which fans should I get? I'm replacing my case fans 2-3. I want it to be as quiet as possible but still move enough air. I have a pci bracket fan controller. OC'd to 3.3 GHZ from 3.16, late 30s to early 40s C idle and 64C on intelburn test, and somewhere around 50C when playing video games. This is only when it's nice and cool in my room, it gets really hot in here during the day. I can't wait for winter to come already... Should I go to 3.4ghz?
I'm going into depression because my first damn computer build is failing The motherboard doesn't boot up, and I'm not sure which part is faulty. I replaced the RAM, still didn't work. Now I'm sending the motherboard back to Scan to test it, and if it isn't faulty I have to pay them 20 quid. And if it isn't faulty, the problem is the processor and I have to do everything all over again with returning the processor etc. whats the point of life

[editline]7th September 2011[/editline] Oh, and I read somewhere that if I took my CPU voltage off of auto and lowered it that I can get a decrease in temp. Does lowering voltage on your CPU too much damage it?

Well I just learned to use google... 1.30v under load... 1.320v idle? I'm sure I could set this all to 1.25v and get a few degrees less on temp right? I'd really like to avoid resetting my CMOS.
I didn't want to make a thread, and I don't know how much you guys do on mobiles, but heres my question/query. My friend got the HTC Galaxy HD, and loved it, and so did I, it's awesome. So I've been thinking of getting one, but what with so many phones are being released all the time, I was wondering if there was a newer/better equivalent. I like the size of the screen, the android and all of it's great features, so I'm looking for the same kind of thing but like I said, possibly better. You guys know anything of the sort?
I am moving my desktop PC from Russia to Canada Will a european desktop work with lower voltage, or I can already dismantle it?
