Because that's how bad his computer is.
I have a feeling your friends computer isn't bad but the speakers are plugged into your microphone port on the motherboard. [editline]11th September 2011[/editline]
My desktop's hard-drive recently died and I've been looking into purchasing a replacement. I've been considering buying an external hard-drive instead of an internal one for the reason that I could more easily move documents between my laptop and desktop. What I'm wondering is, are there any significant differences in performance between say a USB3.0 external drive and SATA3.0 internal drive? Also if there aren't any differences I would appreciate any recommendations you might have for external drives.Thanks.
So what you're saying is you want your boot drive on the desktop to be an EXTERNAL drive? I don't recommend that.

Booting from a USB HDD would be pretty dumb, if this is just for extra storage: USB 3 shouldn't bottleneck most drives, or will just barely (assuming it is a good enclosure that doesn't suck). Make sure you actually have USB 3 ports.
An easier method would be to buy your hard drive for your desktop and either use dropbox or FTP/SSH between the two machines to transfer files.
FTP/SSH
How about no, NFS or Samba.
Edit
How about no, NFS or Samba.
How about, sorry, I don't know these things. I just use those two because I know them. And besides, I can't do anything from outside the network. Bastards won't let me port forward...
Hey, I just bought GTAIV, and Steam occasionally has the mouse cursor appear in game, on top of the game. How do I prevent this?
Alright cool. Second question. What's the best laptop I can get for about $600 to $700? It's just for school and light/medium gaming use. Selling my MacBook and a few old coins I found that some dude who owns a coin shop will buy for an insane amount of money (one coin is worth $277 holy shit) so I'm thinking of getting a 15.6" laptop and pocketing the rest.
Repost.
So I installed F.Lux... Is it supposed to make my screen a yellowy-orangish color at night?
So I installed F.Lux... Is it supposed to make my screen a yellowy-orangish color at night?
Yep.
So I installed F.Lux... Is it supposed to make my screen a yellowy-orangish color at night?
Did you install it without reading the page or something? :suicide:
If I Install an OS on my SSD via my optical drive and set it as the boot drive then delete the Windows folder from my current spindle drive, will everything on the spindle (programs and whatnot) work as intended? I was under the impression binaries were saved somewhere within the windows folder and if I delete the OS from that drive I'll have a bunch of problems with most programs.
I think my ATI drivers updated and I cant find ATI over drive to turn the fan speed down, help
Did you install it without reading the page or something? :suicide:
To tell the truth, yes. :v:
To tell the truth, yes. :v:
Well that was stupid wasn't it? Why did you install it?
Hi, my computer doesn't have a case due to it having a shitty, shitty fan. Now, I have an off-case fan which is constantly fanning the computer when it is on. But obviously when the computer overheats the computer freezes. Now I tried CCleaner and it removed 9.9GB of shit just wasting it's time on my computer and I'm sure it's helped it. Now, I have a broken computer which has a perfectly good fan in it, would I be able to just put any old fan into my computer?
How do I add my correct Steam ID? If I copy paste the one from the site I only get errors.
How do I add my correct Steam ID? If I copy paste the one from the site I only get errors.
It's the "Custom URL" part you need.
It's the "Custom URL" part you need.
Splendid, thanks a lot.
Well that was stupid wasn't it? Why did you install it?
Because I knew what it was and what it did.
Anyone know something to convert a folder of MP3's to OGGs? (on Windows)
...no you didn't?
No, I knew it changed the screen brightness depending on what time of day it was. I did not, however, know it turned the screen a piss yellow color.

Safe to overclock a 2500k with a 650w PSU? Will probably get it between 4 - 4.5ghz http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171052 This one specifically.

If you just have a i5 2500k hooked up to the PSU then I don't know if your computer's going to work right. :v:
