uh huh, native resolution is 1280x1024, anything more is a waste of resources since it would be downscaling it to 1280x1024, which is the highest resolution your monitor can do
Okay, thanks <3
Yeah, it's a Dell 1905FP But I would immensely prefer 1600 x 1200
I actually have an 1800FP which is 1280x1024. It actually has a really good picture, though, so I'm not in any rush to replace it. Those Ultrasharp IPS monitors are fucking great.
I got an average 65-68*C inside my laptop (more particularly from my CPU/Motherboard, according to HWMonitor and Speccy) when playing games. Is that okay or a bit too much? When just doing simple tasks though, I got barely 30-35*C (40*C at worst).

CCC can adjust fan speed just update your drivers and crank it up to 50
Best gaming laptop for around £600-800? Currently looking at the M14x (Since £300 voucher off), XPS 17 and Toshiba Satellite P770 [editline]27th September 2011[/editline] How's this look? Can you mix AMD cards cross-manufacture? I'm not sure if what I'm saying is correct, but say I want to crossfire an XFX HD 5870 and a Club3D HD 5870, would that be possible? Is there anything to note about it? What about if one of them has 1 GB of memory and the other has 2 GB?
hey, hey! Tennant! http://www.bit-tech.net/news/gaming/2011/09/23/battlefield-3-recommended-specs-only-good-f/1
"Matros went on to say that if you were aiming for that level of detail from the Frostbite 2 engine, then you’ll probably need two GeForce GTX 580s in SLI configuration." How can that possibly be, unless the beta has only a 1/3rd of the graphical 'detail' the released game will have that's surely a fabrication, I can max the beta on my 6870 and dual core for christ sake (albeit at only 30-35fps, dual cores are bad), unless they're referring to that thing Shadaez was talking about, something to do with shadow resolution or something. And if you have a £300 Alienware voucher you should probably go for a modest m14x (or sell it for £250), where did you get a £300 Alienware voucher anyway?
Is there a way to change the right click menu in Opera? I'm used to right clicking on links and picking the first option to open a new tab in the background from Chrome. In Opera this just opens the link in the current tab (WTF Opera? I would just left click if i wanted to do that). It's driving me nuts, and if I can't change it I'm going back to Chrome right now. I noticed you can just use the middle mouse button or ctrl + left click. But the middle mouse button on a G9 requires a sledgehammer to be pressed, and i never have my left hand near ctrl when I'm browsing. I'm not completely sure about the 1 and 2 GB thing, but I'm assuming this works, since you can get even more crazy and mix a 5870 and a 5850. Edit: Fuck it, back to Chrome. Buttons on the Youtube player are laggy.
That will work just fine. So any 58XX card will go in crossfire with another 58XX card. But then again, will it work properly with different amounts of memory.
I read an AMD support dude from some AMD forums' response to something similar and he said you can mix any card from a series. You'd probably loose performance if you paired a 5870 with a 5770 or something.
It is possible to crossfire a 1gb 5870 with a 2gb 5870, although both cards will use only 1gb of the vram so the 2gb one will use only 1gb (crossfire mirrors the data between cards). And you can only crossfire with the same family and sub-family, 5830 with 5870, 6950 with 6970 etc.
I don't think that's quite right. You'd probably loose performance if you paired a 5870 with a 5770 or something.
That one came out a bit too quick. I just edited my post.
I don't think that's quite right. You'd probably loose performance if you paired a 5870 with a 5770 or something.
yes you will LOSE some performance if you for instance use a 5870 and a 5770 in crossfire, the result will be the almost same as using two 5770 in crossfire.
It is possible to crossfire a 1gb 5870 with a 2gb 5870, although both cards will use only 1gb of the vram so the 2gb one will use only 1gb (crossfire mirrors the data between cards)
Ah, that's bad news. Thanks for the help.
Ah, that's bad news. Thanks for the help.
Keep in mind unless you're running a higher resolution than 1080p there will be no or very little difference between a 1gb and 2gb card, so you'd lose almost no performance at 1920x1080 or lower, although there are exceptions depending on game and whatnots.
it's as if no one knows anti aliasing exists [editline]27th September 2011[/editline]
I said there are exceptions, some people think double the vram means double the performance, ofcourse more vram will help (to a certain extent).
which is better 2 GTX 590's or 3 GTX 580's?
3 GTX 580's = 9gb of VRAM = $1,770 2 GTX 590's = 6gb of VRAM = $1,500 The two 590's is more cost effective, but if you're a 9gb of VRAM kind of guy, go for that. Just make sure you have a mobo and case that's big enough for that.
3 GTX 580's = 9gb of VRAM = $1,770 2 GTX 590's = 6gb of VRAM = $1,500 The two 590's is more cost effective, but if you're a 9gb of VRAM kind of guy, go for that. But to answer the question, both setups are almost the same and it depends on the game really according to a few benchmarks, the Two 590's tend to outperform by a tiny amount (5%) in most cases. Two 6990's in crossfire actually out-perform both too albeit fucking loud unless you go water.
I need a way to switch audio sources between Speakers and a USB Headset.
Recommend me a good glossy LCD preferably a larger one.
I need a way to switch audio sources between Speakers and a USB Headset.
3.5mm and USB easiest way [editline]28th September 2011[/editline]
Recommend me a good glossy LCD preferably a larger one.
budget? uses?
budget is anywhere from 200-450. Gaming internet and movies are uses. [editline]28th September 2011[/editline] Really thinking about getting the HP 2509m. I love it.
2311, it's matte but the colors are great and the blacks are amazing, don't get the led backlit one
2311, it's matte but the colors are great and the blacks are amazing, don't get the led backlit one
I'd prefer a larger display.

It's Matte right? I would definatly get that if it wasn't but I've owned a matt screen since 03, and I'm sick of looking at AG coatings now... [editline]28th September 2011[/editline] It's on for 350$ here, and I do love the bezels and stand, and the inputs...

So i think its time to upgrade my GPU and im debating between crossfire or buying a better one. What do you guys think? Purchase another 5850 and do crossfire or buy a new graphics card all together. If the latter which one? i've been out of the loop for a while but i've heard the 6970 is pretty good.
