Your telling me thermal PASTE makes that much difference? PASTE? And don't rate me dumb, i explained i'm not experienced in this i wouldn't come here otherwise...
It fills the microgaps in the material that you can't see, which eliminates air pockets, which improves heat transfer. And then there's the fact that the paste is extremely good at transferring heat. So yes, you need thermal paste, you can't just have the sink on top of your CPU/whatever.
Until then im planning on getting a q9550 for 100€ to go with my AMD 6950GPU. Does annyone have any experience with this CPU running BF3? Or any idea if it is gonna be any better?
Q9400 @ 3.6GHz with a GTX 570 is running it great (max settings, 1080p, ~40 FPS), the Q9550 should most certainly do better
My family wants me to put anti-virus software on all their computers. Suggestions for a good program to use, preferably free? Got this but want to get some other opinions.

It can run without but it isnt reccomended. Get some new paste (artic silver or something) apply about a rice grain seize to the top of the core and spread it with the other side of the heatsink. Then press them together and remove the excess. After that run prime 95 for 10 minutes and use HW monotor to check if your cpu reaches 70+ temperatures. Hey, I'm running Prime95, is it safe to let it do a stress test over night at 97C?
Something rather strange happened, while I was just surfing like Facepunch, my mouse and keyboard just jammed. Both have some lights and this keyboard has lights on every button, and when they jammed the lights went on and off, like flickering but not so fast, and neither mouse nor keyboard worked. So I shut down the PC with the normal on-switch and back on and frankly, it worked again obviously. So what's up with that? Got win7 64bit solid specs. Mouse and keyboard are not wireless either.
Sounds like your drivers just crashed. Lots of things can cause that but if it keeps doing it you should reinstall/update them.
Hey, I'm running Prime95, is it safe to let it do a stress test over night at 97C?
If you have clocked it so it becomes 97C you are doing it wrong. It will get trough the night but at 97C it will wear down very quickly.

My 850W crapped out 2 months after I got it, and took my mobo/cpu with it.
When is Bulldozer coming?
If you have clocked it so it becomes 97C you are doing it wrong. Today is a sad day in hell lol.
I'm a newb when it comes to OC, but I did some tweaks and came up with this.
Not really a fan of XFX. My 850W crapped out 2 months after I got it, and took my mobo/cpu with it.
I was expecting this, you always have problems with whatever anyone suggests there's nothing wrong with XFX, just because you have problems with one unit doesn't mean they're all bad, every brand will get bad batches and no product can be perfect if you've got a problem with seasonic's work for XFX then you won't want most of the corsair units that match what you need, or a lot of good units from antec, so maybe you should start looking at spending 2-3x as much on enermax
I was looking to get one of these cards later this year: (XFX Radeon HD 6870 Black Edition) I'm looking to run BF3 and Skyrim with smooth framerates at high settings in 1080p. Will it do the job? A friend highly recommended the 6870. Other specs: AMD Phenom X4 3.4Ghz (Quad core) 4GB RAM DDR3 MSI 790FX-GD70 (Mobo) 500W PSU
I've recently been wanting to get a tablet, but I'm not sure which one. I like the iPad because of how smooth all the scrolling and animations are, also because I'm already familiar with it. But I also like the Android ones because of their performance and customization. I mainly just want to go on the internet, draw with the Sketchbook Pro app, and listen to music.Any suggestions?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125384 Costs something though so if you dont mind the noise.
What is the best of these two programs? Open Office or LibreOffice?

And which one of these cards would make more sense to buy? This one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130593 Or this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130613 or is there a better one that's not like 11" long?
Does anybody else here use JDownloader? Is there a way to open files from within JDownloader? Like you download the file, click its entry in the list, and it opens?

Really quiet and fast card. Right now it's idling at 32c and it goes up to like 56-57 in games while still being silent. Great fans. Can anyone recommend a program like Siri for the iPhone 4s, but for you computer instaed? Thanks.
What is the best of these two programs? Open Office or LibreOffice?
If I remember correctly, the OpenOffice team left Oracle and made it into the LibreOffice project. It's a more updated version. Switch to LibreOffice.
Can anyone recommend a program like Siri for the iPhone 4s, but for you computer instaed? Thanks.
Closest I can think of is Dragon Dictation. It should probably suit your needs.
Does anyone know when the 6xx and the 7xxx series are coming out?
