I guess this is as good a place to ask as any. I have this picture, same resolution as my monitor, that looks fine on it's own. Nice quality, no visible artifacts, etc. But when I set it as my wallpaper it drops in quality so much that it keeps bugging me and I don't know why it keeps doing this. Anyone have an idea to keep the same quality? Or at least explain why it loses quality in the first place?
One thing I have observed, was that when you set a .png file as a wallpaper (through the context menu), it will compress it as JPEG, complete with artefacts and such. You can use Paint.NET or something else to convert it to JPEG with better quality, and set that instead.
What motherboard should I be looking at for a Phenom II X4 955? I know that I need an AM3 socket, but I don't get the 800G, 790G and so on chipsets.

Mainly because their one of the few which has sites that don't auto-crash on me, but for all the shit I've gotten so far... Stay away from the Crosshair IV. I had to go through manual bios shit too disable a an ATA controller so that I could access audio, fan control, and other shit.

Don't just right click on it from a browser or your desktop. I've had issues until I selected it from within the wallpaper tool window.
I wouldn't bother honestly, that will be all you can fit on it with all the temporary files and things my Windows 7 installation takes up around 25 GB
Windows 7 ultimate only takes up 16.5GB for me, including User data.
Can anyone recommend a good wireless network adapter. I use Windows 7 64bit and an 802.11n radio type.
Would I be able to use an LGA 1156 socket CPU (i3) in the motherboard for this computer? http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/inspd530/en/OM/HTML/appendix.htm I've installed a 600 watt PSU so I should be able to use that processor. Do I necessarily need a new motherboard?
You won't be able to, that computer has got an old 775 motherboard.

Would this mobo, case, processor, combo have any problems if I were to transplant any of these parts over from my old PC except for the processor? Protip: scrap everything in that PC except for the graphics card and optic drive and make a thread in Pc building. Also the link to new egg is broke. [editline]3rd June 2011[/editline]
piece of shit HAF 912 is cheaper and far better
Will the HAF 912 be enough to cool 2 570's?
Protip: scrap everything in that PC except for the graphics card and optic drive and make a thread in Pc building. Also the link to new egg is broke.
Simple answer: Money. The PSU is new, the Ram is enough, the Hard drive functions as it should. Why should I need to scrap that stuff? But could anyone answer the original question?

It would not really be worth it, I'd just save up for a quad core or something.
Yes, but why would you want that one? It would not really be worth it, I'd just save up for a quad core or something.
Dosh. I've been waiting for two years and I've been stuck with an Intel Celeron at 1.9 GHz. It bottlenecks my GPU to the point where I can't even play HL2 EP:2 on max settings. I'm waiting until Christmas for a new build but for now I'd rather stay in this price range. Do you have any suggestions for a better CPU in that price range of about $60-$80?

With the money you save you can get nicer parts for christmas.

Say I was going to upgrade to atleast $150-$200 price range for the parts I Specified before. Do you have any good suggestions? I already have: -2GB of DDr2 RAM (240 pin) -600w PSU -Nvidia GTX 460 -2 perfectly functioning optical drives -360GB hard drive. What sort of Case,CPU, and Mobo would be optimum for this setup?
You'll probably want to just build a new computer because you'll need DDR3 RAM and you'll almost certainly want a bigger hard drive. And holy shit your processor and RAM must be bottlenecking your gpu like crazy, I mean :damn:.
What is a 40GB PS3 worth with GTA 4, Fifa 10 and Mirrors edge? In £.

I'm getting RAM now that you suggested.
I've been using my GPU for pooled mining recently, and was wondering when I should give it a break/ if it would have any long term effects. It runs at about 76C and has been for about 20 hours now. It's a 260 GTX by the way, so I'm not getting that many mhashs(40 or so avg), right now I have about a tenth of a BTC :v:.
Hey, how can I fix my mouse? It's a logitech G5 with the latest software, but the mouse software doesn't boot with the computer and I have to turn it on manually. Also, steam appears to crash the driver or something, and if I change DPI while in a game, the driver resets to default G5. It also doesn't recognize Mouse 4 and Mouse 5 ingame
Asking again since it's been a few hundred posts. What's the easiest/ cheapest way to get a third monitor hooked up? I currently have a GTX 460 with 2 DVI ports.
Asking again since it's been a few hundred posts. What's the easiest/ cheapest way to get a third monitor hooked up? I currently have a GTX 460 with 2 DVI ports.
You can't do triple monitors with a single Nvidia card.
You can't do triple monitors with a single Nvidia card.
I think you can but one has to be displayport or have a active adapter from displayport, but I don't think you can use 3 monitors for gaming without 2 cards or a dual GPU card.
