does anyone know why Intel doesn't simply release some of these CPUs at 4GHz stock I know it's something to do with percentage of chips that pass the test, but it seems extremely common for them to do AT LEAST 4 GHz or better yet, why not release the k series as higher clocked chips (the ones that pass the test) with unlocked multipliers as a bonus

It's in their best interest, fiscally, to cadre to businesses not individuals. I think... In other news, can someone recommend some good 120/140mm case fans? I'm looking for somewhat silent operation but decent performance as well.

7zip or Winrar?
winrar

7zip, unless you buy winrar you get the message noone talks about, like Voldemort but more taboo.
Good or bad card?
Not bad, but you don't need that much power unless you're going triple displays so it's a niché market, mostly for insane overclockers or people with more money than brain cells.
You can remove the dialogue box from the winrar exe with a resource editor.
I tried installing the latest Adblock Plus on a friend's computer who had Firefox 7.1.0 (or was it 7.0.1?) and it didn't do anything. I downgraded his computer to Firefox 3.6.23, which worked perfectly fine with Adblock Plus on my old computer, and it still didn't do anything. The addon was enabled and everything. Anybody know why this happened?
If you get the right motherboard, ALL you have to do is press a button on the motherboard, then it does a stable overclock to around 4.2 GHz. I did that and it's SO fast.
And that's the problem. See that little flag to the left? It explains why am I considering getting i5-2400 along with MSI P67A-C45 B3 mobo instead of something better (and more expensive).
I overclocked it to 3GHz, stock cooling and no voltage changes. Never had any problems with this.
I have a stock cooler, went to 3GHz but it started to be a bit unstable. No BSOD-s but it got reallly slow sometimes. Temps were normal too.
I have a stock cooler, went to 3GHz but it started to be a bit unstable. No BSOD-s but it got reallly slow sometimes. Temps were normal too.
I think (but I'm not sure) it might be caused by motherboard. Or maybe because the cooler got dusty.
SNIP, realized how dumb I was.
can you guys recommend me a good USB wifi adapter? I've been wanting to get rid of my PCI wifi card for a while now but i don't know which one to get.
Should I clean my computer? I have never ever cleaned it before (in 2 years), but Defraggler says it's in good condition.
Problem is, it won't cook breakfast or dinner for you.
considering it's fermi it probably would also if you're buying at the ultra high end you're gonna have to take out a mortgage on your house to afford it then have it be superseded in a month by a more powerful card
Why is firefox eating 1.3 gigabytes of my ram?
Has anyone else noticed that Ninite removed all of Piriform's products such as CClenaer, Recuva, and Defraggler?
Why is firefox eating 1.3 gigabytes of my ram?
because firefox has always been a system hog, especially with a lot of addons switch to chrome
because firefox has always been a system hog, especially with a lot of addons switch to chrome
Can't live without NoScript and Chrome's ABP is terrible.
Can anyone suggest a decent SSD? I don't need a huge amount of storage, just speed mainly. Possibly use it with intel's SRT.
Can't live without NoScript and Chrome's ABP is terrible.
never understood the love affair with noscript; for every malicious script that you stop from executing you have to whitelist half a million legitimate ones [editline]24th October 2011[/editline]
Can anyone suggest a decent SSD? Ok, if not a 590 then what should I get?
Ok, if not a 590 then what should I get?
Single monitor? GTX 570 if you're responsible with your money, 580 if you just don't give a fuck.
Should I get the regular 580 or the super clocked one? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130587 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130590

So, I have a bit of a conundrum. My only PC was provided to me by my school, because I do school online, and I will eventually need to do an actual delete of my hard drive. Now, I know CCleaner has both an entire-wipe and a free-disk-wipe option, but I would like to know the effectiveness of it. Is the 1 overwrite pass sufficient or should I go for the 35 wipe pass? I was just messing around with it because I want to clear all of the overwrite-ready data still stored on my HDD but the free-disk wipe alone will take nine and a half hours.
