One pass should stop pretty much everyone except the FBI/CIA/etc. [editline]...[/editline] 2-3 if you want to be extra sure your nasty stuff is gone for good, you sicko. :)
Nah, it's not nasty, just something things that my school frowns upon (IE cookies from Facebook and stuff that we're not supposed to use). I also read on the guidelines of use that they could monitor my e-mail and network usage... is that even possible or is it just a scare tactic? The only way I could see that being possible is if they had a program installed... and that program should get wiped if I do a complete 35 pass wipe I'm assuming.
Well, there was that school that took pictures of their students from the laptops they gave out: http://news.cnet.com/8301-17852_3-10457126-71.html So, probably not a scare tactic. They probably installed keyloggers or something on it before giving it to you.
Wonderful... is there any way to detect these? [editline]23rd October 2011[/editline] Found something in their Terms of Service saying any software they put to monitor the PC is not able/allowed to track internet usage, only software and etc, so I don't think they'd be able to do anything with that regardless as long as I had a wiped hard drive. Less worried, thanks windwakr.

So I have two msi 460s in sli and both of them run in Stalker:COP but just now I noticed only one was being utilized for BFBC2? Do some games just not use two? or is it a problem?
BFBC2 definitely works well with SLI, look into it and see if you can figure out why yours isn't.
I just put duck tape over the camera's aperture. [editline]24th October 2011[/editline] Which is better overall, Livestream or Justin.tv?
I'm not even concerned about that, I don't want them to track my internet history. I couldn't care less if they snapped a shot of me shirtless. What's that going to prove? Welp, he has man tits, let's get him. Also I'd say livestream is more accessible but either work.
BFBC2 definitely works well with SLI, look into it and see if you can figure out why yours isn't.
Hmm it was disabled for some reason... well it works now. thanks

So my two HDDs appear to be producing 'interfering' vibrations or something. I asked the same question a while back but resolved it by disconnecting the power from one. However, I have decided that their must be a solution and I want two drives. When only one is operating there is no noticeable, or out-of-place sound, just the usual hum. But, when the two are on together one of them (The F3) makes a throbbing, vibrating, pulsing sound that is consistent (Called beat frequency I believe?). Now obviously people put two drives in their systems all the time with no conflicts. So what the hell is up and how do I fix it?! Setup: [IMG_thumb]http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh416/kydoes/100_1176.jpg[/IMG_thumb] Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB WD Caviar Blue 320GB I pulled all the empty drive bays and still no luck... Well I guess not all the blame should go to the 'beat frequency' that Spinpoint F3 is much louder than any WD I've had in the past. Wish I would have known that...
Can't live without NoScript and Chrome's ABP is terrible.
As far as I remember Opera has ABP too; I don't know about NoScript though.
Quicktime is shit, but it's good at converting files. How do I obtain the AVI codec for it?
Want to build my own PC. I made a thread for it in the PC building section; http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1134818 My question is, is this that build someone altered for me all compatible with each other? So when I put it together they won't blow up or just not work? I know that a few of the things will work together fine, like the DDR3 RAM will work with the motherboard and such. https://secure.scan.co.uk/aspnet/Shop/SavedBasket/Show.aspx?id=b2780908135b464a8d314133ee923cac As I said in the thread, I'm not really good with hardware at the moment, I'm trying to learn though, this is just a helping hand I need to build this. I appreciate all the help. Would be best if you post in the original thread. But here is cool as well :)
jesus christ I spent more than what you spent on 8GBs of DDR3 on 1GB of DDR1 jsut a few months ago upgrading archaic pcs really is a false economy
Quick question: What's the best Nvidia AGP card I can get?
Quick question: What's the best Nvidia AGP card I can get?
7950gt. If you're looking for one in the market now though and must have it, get an ATi 4670, it's many times faster.
7950gt. If you're looking for one in the market now though and must have it, get an ATi 4670, it's many times faster.
Thanks. Seeing as I'm using Linux, and my experience with ATI is that if I ask for it on christmas, I'll get a damn Sapphire card (No linux drivers, and I'm skint), I'll get the 7950gt. Thanks for the quick response Edit: 7950 seems to be unable to be gotten now, eBay or Amazon included :(
Just a random thought I got earlier this day. What is a good primary hdd? Not talking ssd here. Edit: Decent price (Whatever that is)
Just a random thought I got earlier this day. What is a good primary hdd? Not talking ssd here. Edit: Decent price (Whatever that is)
Spinpoint F3, or Caviar Black. Anything up to 1TB pretty much.
can you guys recommend me a good USB wifi adapter? I've been wanting to get rid of my PCI wifi card for a while now but i don't know which one to get.
I can recommend the one I have, it's a TP-LINK TL-WN722N. I got it after seeing lots of good reviews on amazon and it doesn't disappoint. It was only about £10 too.
how hard would this be to repair? http://newhaven.craigslist.org/zip/2662937277.html
I haven't really cared too much, but lately I've become concerned with my cooler. My cpu is an i7 2600k, running at stock clock (and always has). The cooling in concern is an asetek 550lc 120mm watercooler. The cpu runs just under 40 Celsius and 75 stressed @ 3.5Ghz & 1.2v. I hardly know much about a lot of this and would appreciate info on how to figure out whats causing it and how to fix it. The computer came premade, so my first guess is an incorrect (or lack off) application of thermal paste, but even still that only shaves a few degrees doesn't it?
I'm in a bit of a pickle here. I've done a lot of looking, and I can't decide whether I should upgrade my Processor or my Graphics Card. Current of each: eVGA GeForce GT 240 (1 GB) AMD Athlon II X2 245 ~2.9GHz What I can't make up my mind about: [undecided graphics card upgrade] or AMD Phenom II X4 965 ~3.4GHz Which do you think needs more attention? I'm mainly trying to get GTA IV to perform better, but just also generally upgrading for all games. I'm open to graphics card suggestions, though I prefer nVidia for PhysX support.
I'd say graphics card upgrade. You've already got a decent processor. Try a GTX 460/560 Ti/570 (depending on how much you're willing to spend).

I'd say get a Phenom II x4 955 and save up for a 6770.
A better card will give him better performance on 90% of games, but if he really is only doing this for GTA4 (which is silly in my opinion but whatever) a quad core will help more.
Am I retarded for feeling like my video card is going to bump into that? [editline]24th October 2011[/editline] The chipset [editline]24th October 2011[/editline] or here
I'd say graphics card upgrade. You've already got a decent processor. Try a GTX 460...
That helped me loads. Found a 2 GB card for $200, and it has very positive reviews. I'll save for it first. In the meantime, out of stock.
VRAM isn't everything, what card is it?
Already ordered it. I didn't order it BECAUSE of the VRAM, but it was a version of an already good card with more memory. Card I ordered: GeForce GTX 460 2GB 256-bit GDDR5
where would I go about finding a good headset that has a mic for less than 70$?
