for what
we're talking about in relation to this guy's situation, not in general, don't try and play semantics with me
sure, an i3 2100 + mobo costs the same as a 955 + mobo but here's the thing: he doesn't need a new motherboard
sorry, I wasn't really following that he already had the motherboard, still you can't argue that somehow AM3 has better upgradeability, and you don't even know if the motherboard will support the TDP of the CPU.
for what
Trying to build a gaming pc, if that's what you mean.

if you're building a computer make a thread in the pc building section

Intel is generally better for gaming. Generally.
Should I wait for Ivy bridge to upgrade my Phenom II 965?
I doubt you'll really need to upgrade for a long time anyway.

Then I will just OC it.
What's the best place to learn about PC hardware and shit?
I'm paranoid that a TAFE course in it is gonna be one of those silly things where you go there, give them money and attend a few classes and you get a certificate without actually learning anything.
Then get laughed at by people who actually know what they're doing.
Depends what you mean by 'PC hardware and shit'.
yes, it is, easily

Since he wants to get atleast a bit of performace quickly, can he use the 955 with the Ace 460W PSU?
I have no clue about hardware. Sorry if this seems like a stupid question.
Skyrim's minimum requirements are for a video card with 512 MB of RAM. Will I still be able to run it with 256? And how well? (I meet all the other requirements)
Can anyone make this QR code readable?

I found it while watching Community S02E08 and wonder what it says.

Is there a way to remove the fucking dotted outline around images in Chrome?
It's ugly and it's pissing me off.
Something's up with my uTorrent. Before everything was downloaded with decent speed, but for some reason now download speed only goes up to 10kbps instead of previous 500kbps. Why would that happen?

I didn't even notice it before you said it.

How do I clean a LCD screen?
I have used tissue paper with water for all my life, but I have been reading that this is the worst way to do it.
I need simple things, I can't buy a "clean your computer" kit.
Maybe the liquid I use to clean eyeglasses?
help.
Do you have a port open for uTorrent?
I should have. At least uTorrent shows that the network is OK.

yeah
Make sure it's isopropyl alcohol (90+ recommended) not acetone, or you can buy specific thermal paste remover if it makes you feel better, Akasa tim cleaner or something.

My Cooler Master 650w runs everything there + 1 more hard drive, a 2500k and a 6870. So I would say yes. But it's loud under load.
