Okay, but what is the actual change?
uh it's just more bandwidth (I assume you're talking about SATA III?) it's not really beneficial unless you have a very fast SSD.
It's a newer generation, Phenom II X4's are still good for the money, but it's behind a generation.
Mine doesnt run like a generation behind. I'd buy another one again.
No I'm asking what the actual difference is between Sandybridge and the older stuff. Not just "It's newer." I figured out the other stuff myself.
What's a good case with good airflow and cable management? Looking at a budget of $120usd and my current case is a Lexa S is isn't too great with either one.
Are proxy servers worth setting up, and if so, what is a good tutorial?

Who make better p67 mobos, Asus or gigabyte?
Are proxy servers worth setting up, and if so, what is a good tutorial?
Do you have a need for it?
Who make better p67 mobos, Asus or gigabyte?
I am currently on a Asus P8P67 Pro and it's pretty good. I'm not a fan of their own UEFI BIOS though. MSI is better at that.
So I've been trying to rip the season one disk of The Simpsons onto my computer with handbrake but it is fucking up. How can I fix this? Is there a better DVD ripper out there? If so, I'd like it to be able to export so it can be played on my phone (htc Inspire)
Install DVD43 then try Handbrake again.
If you guys would post what laptop manufacturers you prefer, I'd really appreciate it.
here we go. The four laptop manufacturers I've experienced are Asus, HP/Compaq, Dell and Toshiba. I will not be discussing the OEM installs of Windows provided because I'm in the habit of leveling the laptop and installing Linux on them anyway. I will discuss two things - build quality based on my experience, and Linux compatibility. I'll also bold the manufacturer so you know when I've switched trains of thought. Asus: Never had a problem with Asus. The hardware's nice, most distros of Linux "just work" on my Asus - I don't need to do fancy shit to get something to work right or anything. Well, except Quake 3 but I think that's just because I tried it on a netbook running at the weird ass resolution of 1024x600. On an Asus with a standard screen resolution it will probably be fine. HP/Compaq: Solid hardware, haven't had a failure yet, but my laptop got really fucking dusty. I was having heat issues and I couldn't crack it open to do the usual cleaning routines, so I told my buddy if he could get it fixed he could have it. He got someone to crack it open (somehow - I couldn't find a good take-apart thing on Google for it) and it turns out there was no air in there at all - just dust. v:v:v But ignoring that they're otherwise good laptops. Gentoo, reputed to be the most complicated Linux distro to install, was easy to set up on it too - in fact my first Gentoo install was on this very same Compaq and the most I had to do to get it working was Google what processor family I had. Dell: Dell's alright. I'm aware that they have a reputation of not being great, but the hardware's actually halfway decent and to be honest most of the problems with Dell are software related - easily solved by formatting the drive and installing Linux (or even installing Windows using the OEM key!). The last Dell I actually owned died before I knew about Linux, and the last Dell I was able to use wasn't mine so I can't say anything about Linux functionality here. Toshiba: Pretty much the same review as Dell except Toshiba has slightly better hardware.
Who make better p67 mobos, Asus or gigabyte?
Gigabyte's are good but expensive (I'm still not sure which is the cheapest they have with 8x/8x PCI-E because I end up finding MSI and asus boards so much lower in price) and don't have EFI MSI have good prices, P67A-G43 and G45 are probably the boards that get recommended most because of their price range and the features you get for that price Asus are a bit more expensive than MSI but have better EFI (and possibly better quality and/or support, haven't had enough experience with either to confirm) [editline]6th June 2011[/editline] in terms of pure price for features MSI usually tops out but between just asus and gigabyte, asus
Do you have a need for it?
That's sort of part of the question, what would be good parameters for getting one?
So, how does the forum know what browser you are using, again?
user agent
Thanks.
What is so special about Sandybridge, why is an i5 so much better then a Phenom X4?
Sandy Bridge is pretty efficient, doing more per clock. And also clocking much higher. [editline]6th June 2011[/editline]
Who make better p67 mobos, Asus or gigabyte?
Asus has a good following for the 1155 generation, I find their boards rather ugly except for the Maximum IV, same goes for MSI. Gigabyte makes the most well built boards from my research and have much nicer color schemes. Gigabyte UD series seem to have a cycle booting issue, but it's being cleaned out. So I'm going for a Z68 UD4.
Are there any benchmarks comparing an overclocked 560 ti to an overclocked 6950 1gb @ 1080p?
Also, is it possible to merge a RAID 1 mirror from my current mobo to a future mobo. I got two 2TB greens in RAID 1 right now with like 1.2tb of data and I'd like to simply take both and enable to raid again on the new mobo. Is that not possible? Do I need to swap it all to another backup drive somewhere? Edit: I'm thinking I should buy a 2TB externals and copy a copy to each then install both drives and dump the data back on incase it doesn't work. I may buy two of them since I'm worried about losing it.
What is the best to use? 1 single 6990 or 2x 6970 I mean for gaming then. Not planing to buy...yet.
What is the best to use? 1 single 6990 or 2x 6970 What will work best?
2 6970, but you can't do quad CF (Why would you even do that?), unless you've got a very nice motherboard.
is a gtx560 the best 200$~ replacement for a 9800GTX+? and is it worth the upgrade?
is a gtx560 the best 200$~ replacement for a 9800GTX+? and is it worth the upgrade?
Definitely worth the upgrade. Make sure your PSU can handle it, though.
http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1094095-Pc-performance-droping-or-something.?p=30260247& I need help with this.
Definitely worth the upgrade. Make sure your PSU can handle it, though.
tx750w, i think i'm good. [editline]7th June 2011[/editline] is there a better ati card for the price?
I just reinstalled Windows 7 64 bit this afternoon, and deleted my old partition. But since the unallocated space is to the right of the partition I can't extend it.
tx750w, i think i'm good. [editline]7th June 2011[/editline] is there a better ati card for the price?
If you can find a 6950 for the same price or 20$, sure, it's a good deal better.

But they will both run faster and cooler and probably cheaper than a 6990. Think of the 6990 for people who want the 'Single' fastest card, it's not for everyone. I went for two 580's for a variety of reasons but one was that the 590 wasn't really well put together. Lack of Vram, overheated unless underclocked to hell, etc.
In Windows 7, am I able to put an option for 'recycle bin' in 'Computer'? As in
