Anyone know how hot a PS3 can get? The exhaust anyways. Like, hot enough to burn/melt anything?
Every time I play Armored Core: For Answer for extended periods of time, I can feel the heat radiating from it.
(What's funny is it got the hottest while trying to defeat White Glint... :v:)
My internet keeps dropping out, but its weird. The lights on the modem stay lit up and any current connections remain constant, but I can't make any new connections. Like if I'm playing a game, the connection isn't lost, but I can't load any webpages after the drop out occurs. Any one know whats up with that?

... Do you happen to be using a Linksys E3000?
We're using that here and I have the same problem sometimes...
Nope.
Can I get a decent graphics card for £50 - $80. Bearing in mind that I only play TF2.
Nah it's crap, see if you can go a bit over budget and get a 6670:
Well, it can't get no hotter than my netbook (67c whilst running Frozen Throne).
67c? My laptop was running at 92.
That was before I dusted at the exhaust thingy. :v:

that's not even hot by desktop standards
My old m15x topped at 117c on the GPU before the solderings melted and I could either do the ovenbake trick or sell it, I sold it.
Good old 8800m GTX, shit laptop though, we're all 14 once though and Alienware is so tempting at that age.
Would an ASUS HD5450 1GB play 1080p video?
very easily, yeah
[editline]s[/editline]
why the disagree? my radeon HD2400 could handle it so there's no reason why the 5450 (which is considerably better) can't
Right, I installed windows onto my new SSD and whenever it boots it says BOOTMGR IS MISSING, but if I have the Windows disk inside the disk drive it boot perfectly. I've tried the repair functions on the windows disk and they don't work.
Anyone know how to fix without having to reinstall?

Why MATX mobo?
Why SLI from beginning? And why SLI those old cards?
There is cheaper RAM. Stupid headspreaders.
There should be a cheaper DVD burners too.
Some 1TB HDD-s might be a bit cheaper, not sure anymore.
What is suggested for a gfx card for around 240? MSI has a promo going on for the GTX 560Ti Hawk edition.
Should I get this?

The Radeon HD 6950 is $260 at the moment. According to this list, it's the best option.

The cheapest I've seen is $140ish. The Thailand thing really jacked up prices.

Fixed it, in case anyone else has this problem I'll say what was wrong.
For some reason Windows Installer thought it was a good idea to put my boot manager on my normal 1tb HDD instead of my SSD so it failed trying to load the boot manager off my SSD. I fixed it by removing the 1TB HDD and doing repair in windows installer to rebuild the boot manager on the SSD.
I have not found any good sources or anything about the 7000 series. Will it come Q4 2011 or Q1 2012 or later? That are those two I can find.
Also. What is this new socked 2011 I'm hearing about. Is it any good in your opinion?

Gonna go with the hawk edition then cause it performs near the 570 and is cheaper than the 6950.
Fucking shit my Samsung 1TB F1 is failing and my warranty expired over a year ago
:suicide:
It'll be several months until supply is back to normal. Before the shortages I was originally thinking of upgrading to a Samsung 2TB F4 as secondary storage with an SSD. Only problem now is that a used 2TB HDD on Ebay can cost as close to a new one and they're both expensive. If prices stay the same around Christmas sales should I take the plunge and buy a new one as a one off? Or should I just stick to cracking open my old 60 gig external IDE HDD and use it?

As long as you pay for postage and send it back when you don't need it you can use my 500GB F1

Would you guys recommend a better monitor for equal or cheaper price? I'll be ordering a new monitor on Friday.
Also a cheap source for HDDs is going on ebay and looking for broken sky plus HD boxes
The 250GB ones have a normal desktop 500GB HDD inside.

That's really kind of you considering doing that, I don't want to put any burden on you or anyone though so I will find DIY alternatives around. Thanks though, it's only just a first world problem if anything :v:

I thought about this but I didn't bother to check prices since I figured they would be similar. Looking now they're selling 500GB SATA boxes for bargain auction prices. Awesome
[editline]13th November 2011[/editline]
Fucking brainwave. I just remembered I have a broken regular Sky+ box with something like a 200GB IDE HDD. Time to crack that open and test it for failure

You're welcome.
The only problem with sky box HDDs are they are a bit slow
This is more of a duct tape solution rather than a permanent one.

Brilliant storage drives though.
What is the overall best monitor I can get for $160 USD
1080p and HDMI would be nice, but are not needed
What's the best NAS enclosure on the market with USB print server support. I have a pair of SATA drives floating about and I want to pu them to good use.
Ideally as cheap as possible too. Any suggestions?
Are all of these parts compatible?

Feel feel to critique my choices, none are ordered except the video card. My budget for the CPU, RAM, mobo, and power supply are a measly $300.
