Install windows once without a CD Key, then install over it with the upgrade key.
It 'just worked' for me, without having to install over it I mean.
Final checks on this build? Literally just if everything is compatible, I don't want suggestions for changes.

Don't start another fucking shitstorm. You fail to understand that not all NZXT cases are automatically bad. I agree the majority are, but this case has been given consistently good reviews. I also know a guy who has this case, who let me take a look at it last night.
What good products, cases in this case, has come from NZXT besides the Phantom?
None as far as I know.
I don't see how I'm failing to understand anything, it's well known that they make low quality overpriced cases, you're just trying very hard to pin this on me as usual
the zalman cooler is likely to block half of the RAM slots because they make the fins closer to the motherboard than other large coolers
even regular sized RAM are unlikely to fit underneath
it also performs worse than coolers that cost less but hey we've already established all you care about is wasting money
would far prefer a TX750V2 but again you seem to get off on wasting money so
why not go the whole distance and go with bulldozer, really you're halfarsing this whole waste of money thing by using a 2500k

Haha wow. You still fail to understand. Just because the majority of NZXT cases are low quality, does not mean this particular case is low quality. You're generalizing just as much as saying all black people are thieves. (Which is blatantly not true.)
The Dark Rock PRO I had before wouldn't fit. What's wrong with the Zalman, performance-wise? Reviews I read said it performed comparable to the NH-D14.
TX750V2, I couldn't find. Also the Toughpower XT is reliable.
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/750w-psu-corsair-enthusiast-series-cmpsu-750txv2-85-eff-80-plus-bronze-sli-crossfire-eps12v-quiet-fa try looking harder

8 minutes in he shows you that regular size RAM and heatspreaders will not fit under it
what reviews are you seeing of it matching the D14
knowing you it's the first result from google that shows positive results regardless of credibility
it's the same as most recent zalman coolers, looks pretty and doesn't perform on par with other coolers in its pricerange
[editline]16th November 2011[/editline]
if you want a quiet build, change the case to a define R3 or define XL and use a dark rock advanced or something
I don't understand how you think an old NZXT case will be quiet
I'm looking for a universal power brick
Is this any good?
If not, what is the best one?
It needs to be 120w+

he would care more if he wasn't spending his parents' money
CPU and RAM most definitely pass, but I'm surprised you're even running Win 7 OK on Intel graphics.
If it's a desktop, go pick up a video card from somewhere (preferably Newegg because better deals). Hell, even a Geforce 9400 would be better than what you have now AND it could run Oblivion at high (possibly Ultra if they had it back then, can't be assed to check now.)
thanks sadly my laptop has it built in the motherboard and cant be removed for some reason.

What's wrong with these?
That Thermaltake is only £80 for 775W, whereas the Corsairs are £95-100 for 750W so I fail to see how it's overpriced.
Why is it in some games my monitor says the game is not running at the monitor's optimum mode, which is 1920x1080 60Hz, when my games are set to that. It mainly happens in Crysis 2, GRAW 2, and sometimes Skyrim. Anyone know what's going on? My graphics cards are two XFX 6870s and my monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster SA300.

Yes, but make sure to take the guide's advice of following up with your own research.
Is it possible to build a decent server computer for somewhere around 350 - 420 dollars?
Yeah. Infact that's a good start aslong as you've got a case, PSU and a small HDD already.
I'm starting off with nothing.
That's gonna make things a little harder.
What's the purpose of the sever?
Hopefully to run a basic website / a game server or two.
[editline]17th November 2011[/editline]
But on the topic of cases, I know where I could get one for next to free.
Okay that makes my job much easier.
I'm almost done compiling a list from Newegg.

= 307 without shipping costs for the i3
that's with no monitor/keyboard and mouse. If the i3 ins't good enough you can get the 2500k.
Wow, thanks a bunch.
[editline]17th November 2011[/editline]
Are there any risks associated with getting a really shitty case other than overheating?
that's $56 for shit RAM, just get this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231314
What are your opinions on the Logitech X-530?
thanks sadly my laptop has it built in the motherboard and cant be removed for some reason.
In that case, kindly hit yourself with something for even thinking about gaming on a laptop in the first place
What are your opinions on the Logitech X-530?
Amazing speakers for the price.
Have them myself
How much can I overclock my CPU without additional cooling systems?
Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU E2200 @ 2.20GHz
Core Speed 1200.0 MHz
Multiplier x 6.0
Bus Speed 200.0 MHz
Rated Bus Speed 799.9 MHz
Temperature 36 °C
And the PSU is 450W max iirc. It's a shitty computer, but I don't see myself getting another until next year so I'd like to boost this computer until then. At least I could open the side of the computer and put my portable fan in it as if it'd help.
Uhh, how long have you had the thing? I mean if it's like 5 years old I wouldn't touch it. I'd rather have a working computer than a dead one with no replacement.
Three years, does that really make a difference?
So guys, I plan to upgrading my computer soon. New motherboard, new processor, and going from 6GB DDR2 to 16GB DDR3. So I want to know if there is anything I should do before it.
Can I use this install of Windows 7, or should I reinstall?
If reinstalling is there any recommended things to make getting everything back to normal, such as registry stuff so I don't need to reinstall all the already installed games. (I know how to do it with steam games so that won't be hard, junction points )
why 16GB of ddr3?
Unless you're using it for heavy editing, heavy compiling, VMs or heavy rendering you won't need it.
If all you're doing is playing games 6GB is all you're going to need.
What's the best codec for virtualdub?
