I want a keyboard that's both good for gaming (gaming related features), and typing.
I've been looking at the sidewinder X6 and the G110.
I basically want a keyboard around $50 with these features:
-backlighting (blue preferred)
-media keys
-durability (last at least a year)
+macro keys are a plus, but not required.
What would be my best bet? (not just the two keyboards I posted, those I'm just looking at now.)

g110? thats what im looking at.
Also, if I were to get the 560ti classified 448cores would I need a different power supply?
I was told that if I were to get the hawk I might not be able to overclock to near 570 performance because of my psu.
Is it even possible to get a static IP for a computer not wirelessly connected to a router (with time warner) ?

I would go Logitech.
What would be some good video capturing software, and maybe some editing software for music or whatever.
Free obviously. Fraps I know but I remember it lagged or something, so what would you suggest?

I have WEgame but you need an account and its a bit iffy, also xfire has in-game recording.

The paid recording software is worth it.
My friend said I need to benchmark my PC when I apply thermal paste to the cpu(when I get it all that is), for 5 hours or so. Is this true or is he just pulling this out of his ass? I just want to make sure.
It depends on the thermal compound. Some of them apparently have 'curing times' before they work at optimal efficiency, but I doubt you'll have much trouble either way. Do it if you like, I guess.

Stupid question, but wouldn't gaming a lot basically do it after a while?
Also, heatsinks come with it preapplied, right? Is it recommended not to only use that? I just like to be sure with these things, whether I sound stupid or not, being that it's my first time doing any of this.
I really appreciate all the help guys, by the way.

dxtory if you can get it to work
dxtory if you can get it to work
DXtory is such an abusive relationship.
I'm very intresting in selling my computer, but I have no idea on prices and stuff and wondered if anyone here would be nice enough and give me an estimate on how much I could get for a pc with these specs

Graph Card is ATI 4870
I can even play skyrim with most settings on high, crysis 2 on high with 30-40 fps, anno 2070 on max.

Okay so what would be the most easy to use and lightweight paid software that can record gameplay, put clips together and convert them to an appropriate form?

DXtory
About 43 USD
Can record microphone and game audio separately
Choose your own codec
Record into single files
Generally lighter than fraps
More screenshot functions like compression, scaling, watermarks
Real time video scaling (play at 1080p, record to 720p)
Unlocked framerates for smoother gameplay experience, and locked for smoother video
Better use of more cores
Loads other nice little features
Fraps
About 37 dollars
a little heavier
Option of RGB Raw or the default Fraps format
Forcably splits to 4GB files
Records microphone and game audio together but combines them into the same stream
Basic screenshot options like format
Really tough on lower end systems
Only Full resolution or half resolution
Locked framerates only.
Benchmarking tools for performance testing.
Overall, for someone looking to create lots of content easily, DXtory is better. Fraps has some advantages like the benchmarking options and is a few dollars cheaper, and also is more reliable.
For people on mid-range or higher end machines, Dxtory really can shine.
I've always found FRAPS' $37 price tag a bit steep. That's a large portion of what I paid for Portal 2, and almost as much as I paid for Batman: Arkham City. It's kinda ridiculous.
Still better than loads of the free software. So yes, it's steep for both of them, but it does have something of value for the purchase.

Alright so this Dxtroy, I've looked through the configuration and in the Movie-tab there's "Scaling" I wonder if I should choose Percent or Size, and if Size then what sizes for width and height? Right now I'm just keeping it Scaling Percent 100%.
Other than that I've set the directory for clips and screenshots (same folder)
Then I set Dxtory Video Codec to 'YUV24 - High Quality', Compress checked below. Framerate is set to 30.
Also what about the .NET Framework 4? What's that? Should I install it?
(specs; 4ghz i5-2500k, 4gb DDR3 ram, nvidia gtx 570, win7 64bit)
for size use a resolution smaller than what you're playing at with the same aspect ratio
those are good settings, and no, you don't need to install that
set the scaling to size; 1480 720 or something along those lines.. watched another youtube video for that :v: anyway ty for fast replies and shit
As for some videogame clips.. if i manage to accumulate like a handful of BF3 gameplay clips, how should I proceed to put them together, and then upload the thing?
Also I don't think I'm gonna edit anything. I'm just gonna have raw gameplay, shortened or even fastforwarded parts where I might prone around being suppressed as a sniper.
1280x720 should be it.
Best 120-128GB SSD (with TRIM support)?
[editline]8th December 2011[/editline]
I think I want TRIM support, I hear it's good.
Whats a good p67/z68 board. My cousin is looking for one with to go with a 2600k. He doesn't have an ssd but plans to get one soon and is not sure if he will benefit from the extra cost of z68.
Stupid question, but wouldn't gaming a lot basically do it after a while?
Yeah. I personally wouldn't bother if you're not doing anything that requires the thermal paste to be working at its best.
Also, heatsinks come with it preapplied, right? Is it recommended not to only use that? I just like to be sure with these things, whether I sound stupid or not, being that it's my first time doing any of this.
If the heatsink comes with pre-applied paste either use what's on there only or clean it off and use your own. You want to be using as little as possible while still making sure it fills all the gaps you have.
Best 120-128GB SSD (with TRIM support)?
I'd personally recommend any of the Crucial M4 or Samsung 830. If you want to spend as little as possible then the Corsair Force 3 could be an option.
And yes, you definitely want TRIM, but few of the latest generation SSDs don't support it.

pretty sure http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227766 is very good too, IIRC one of the best performers but I don't know how reliable it is
DXtory, Fraps
I've tried a couple of these but have always gone back to Fraps. I don't know but I prefer Fraps, maybe because I've bought it.
I bought both. Much prefer DXtory unless you want it for the sort of standardized benchmarking stuff.
I downloaded the free trial of DXtory and I could never get it to record at a solid 30 frames.

I never really got it to work =/, I would like to buy it but I never got that "oh this is so much better than Fraps" feeling.
Maybe I should give it another chance, seen a couple posts now recommending it. Will never stop using Fraps though <3.
Is it possible to upgrade/replace a video card in a laptop, particuarly acer?
