where can I find those?
Probably a TDP limit I guess. I set mine to like 300W. I'm told it limits your max overclock.
Where would I find that option so I can change it?
Finally built the computer. Only one problem though. Would anyone know why every audio device I plug into the integrated audio ports, and case audio ports(headphones, speakers etc) make this buzzing/interference sound?
If this problem exists only when you're fully booted up to Windows then download and install the latest software sound drivers. Tinker around in the sound options and try to pinpoint what it could be. If not then the issue is caused by the motherboard having interference with a connected device. Try and isolate the issue by disconnecting all non essential devices connected to the computer (including hard drives and dedicated graphics card if your motherboard has an integrated video solution) and see if it still makes this noise. If it doesn't then try safely connecting one device at a time to pinpoint what's causing it. Be sure to re-route and keep all wires that can act as an antenna away from the sound chip on the motherboard. If the problem is limited by an IDE device then make sure you're using shielded cabling for it. I had the same problem and couldn't find the cause of it. In the end I bought a cheap dedicated sound card and all my problems went away with it.

I'm using my external sound blaster since I couldn't be assed to do it tonight. I have no problem with using this if I can't fix it, but I do plan to get a dedicate card sometime.

What CAN I use on USB 3.0? Some things seem to crash my computer as far as I can tell.
Well a friend of mine says that my Modecom Premium 340w psu can run i5 2500k, gtx 570 and msi-h61 just fine. I really doubt this. It can't possibly be true, right?
no where did he even get that idea, it's completely bullshit
Right. Would a XFX 550W Core Edition at 60e be good?
Right. Would a XFX 550W Core Edition at 60e be good?
its fine but the price seems a little high what site are you using
its fine but the price seems a little high what site are you using
I'm betting Jimm's PC Store. http://www.jimms.fi/tuote/P1-550S-XXB9
its fine but the price seems a little high what site are you using
^ And that's the cheapest 550w I could find and I searched various other sites too. I think I'll go with this one.

nah it's fine, I was just expecting the price to be closer to €50 as it can be found for £45 here
I used a Fatal1ty OCZ 550w PSU at one point, it may be ricey but the price is good, it's modular and reliable.

So I have a dilemma. With that new SSD I'm going to get for Christmas, it's 500MB/s read speeds, and SATA II only supports 3Gb/s or 300MB/s. Do I upgrade my "old" motherboard so I can continue to use my (dying brand) AMD Phenom II X4, or do I get a sandy bridge i5 and a new intel motherboard? Sure the AMD option is cheaper, but AMD is not doing so well and I don't foresee them doing any better any time soon.

Ok, this is how I have DXTory set up. I'm downscaling 1080p to 720p, what codec should I use, or what settings should I fix?
Do I need a special 6Gb/s SATA III cable? Will my motherboard come with one? Will the SSD? Do I need a special one?
How do I unwrite protect a sd card, when the switch is broken off? [editline]14th December 2011[/editline] nvm, fixed with a piece of scotch tape over the switch.

So, I was attempting a fresh install of windows 7, everything worked fine until it tried to create a windows.old file as well as the new one, and that caused my boot drive to run out of storage. How can I make it a 100% clean install (as in format EVERYTHING and fresh install windows 7)
also, how big is the difference between i5 and i7?
