Sounds like bad bearings. Backup your data immediately and replace it.
Sounds like bad bearings. Backup your data immediately and replace it.
oh shush everytime i boot up it says "HARD DRIVE FAILURE IS IMMINENT. PLEASE BACK UP AND REPLACE IT"
it's been that way for...a year
Ok, then don't. Don't give me shit
FurMark burn-in pushed my GPU to 86c at 1280x1024 and dynamic background, still stayed running, so heat isn't an issue :/
in regards to my graphics card worries, clearly I am the fonz because i back-punched my computer and everything began working again.
Hey I've got a question! Is buying a sound card worth it? My PC seems to make a crackling sound with my 2.1 channel speakers if I turn the system volume up past ~85%. Would getting one fix this?
Yep
A'ight, thanks. Anyone got some recommendations? PCI Express x1 and PCI bus types are both free for me, so no problems there. I've also seen a couple sound cards that require a 4-pin molex, I've got a couple of those free as well, no worries. :v:

Eh, preferably under $180, I've got money needs elsewhere as well.
Surely it could also be the speakers themselves, no?
And I'm not here to judge, but do you need your speakers 85%+? Anything past 60-70% with software at 100% is uncomfortably loud.
But card wise the Xonar DG is widely appreciated and of a good price, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829132020&Tpk=Xonar%20DG although I believe they're more oriented towards headphones.
And I wouldn't spend anywhere near $180 unless you have a very good set of speakers to boot.
I'm positive it's not my speakers, I've had several sets of speakers that all had the same static crackle when I turn the volume up (in Windows) past about 85%. But that shouldn't be a problem anymore, I'll order that card right now. Thanks, David Tennant!
Merrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry Christmas.
I want to delete some of Steam games' files from free weekends e.g. Brink. Brink's files take up multiple gigabytes, but I can't delete it's files from Steam because I don't have the game in the list anymore. Is is safe to just delete steamapps/common/brink to remove all brink files or is there anything special I have to do?
How would I go about increasing my 5670's voltage? Afterburner doesn't show anything for the voltage even after enabling it.

Ah okay. I've read that it would fix the stability, but if not I'm not going to touch it. Thanks.
oh I figured you were asking because you wanted to overclock
increasing the voltage will increase stability if you're having issues, more than likely
I don't know how to for AMD cards, however, apparently afterburner has a lot of issues with them
What would be a good tablet to get for $700 max? It's for my dad, and he's going to use it for teaching and presentations and such.
