What would be a good tablet to get for $700 max? It's for my dad, and he's going to use it for teaching and presentations and such.
For your dad? The iPad. (I own an Asus transformer, I'm no apple fanboy. - The fact is your dad won't be eager to hack it to pieces and the iPad will prove more reliable for him in these situations. I find android on the tablet clunky at times (I'm hoping ICS will sweeten this a bit when it finally comes to my TF101))
jesus christ, my internet is slow as fuck what could be causing this?
You call that slow? That's about six times what I get.
it says "slower than 73% of EE" and "GRADE: D" I usually get about 120-130 Mb/s

According to Elions site, maximum is 100 down and 20 up. And you have to live in an apartment building for it :suicide: They won't give you fiber otherwise afaik. And Estonia ranks at 5-th place with internet speeds. Viljandi is supposed to be pretty good. With ~70Mbps And we have only one ISP, Elion, who has speeds according to Net Index, ~7Mbps over here. DAMN YOU ELION FOR TESTING WITHYOUR SERVERS!

Could you not just send a proper speedtest.net picture verification thing? Seems fishy. Not that I really care or anything just strange you'd take a picture..
so there.
so there.
oh wow, that sucks :/ [editline]17th December 2011[/editline]
Could you not just send a proper speedtest.net picture verification thing? Not that I really care or anything just strange you'd take a picture..
the problem is, that now my internet speed suddenly dropped, so I can't do a normal, and I had to use a old picture. on an unrelated note, what was the name of that application, with what you could block everybody elses internet connecting, providing, that they are on the same network?
How much wattage should I use to power my build? i5 2500k, z68, GTX 570, 1TB HDD, 80GB SSD, and CD/DVD drive? I'm currently using a 600W Corsair psu. I'm getting BSODs that get progressively worse on every boot up sometimes to the point where the computer just power cycles unless I let it rest for an hour. I've checked for viruses and no hits. I've tried reinstalling Windows, and it was a temporary fixed but BSODs came back. Thinking it was a psu issue, I disconnected the 570 and ran the monitor on Intel integrated graphics, but it eventually crashed again.

(I've had this power supply YEARS) Out of curiosity is it a CX series corsair? - We got a couple for some office computers and they catastrophically failed (And it seems I'm not the only one to experience this)
Wow, on the dot.
didn't even use any online tools, I'm too good
Out of curiosity is it a CX series corsair? - We got a couple for some office computers and they catastrophically failed (And it seems I'm not the only one to experience this)
No, Corsair GS600
Wow, on the dot.
It'll actually only run at about 325-400w on load, although I'm not saying everyone with a 2500k and a 570 should go for a CX430 as you have to take into account peak efficiency and breathing room for small or large upgrades. But either way your problem could be easy or hard to fix, first thing you should do if you haven't already is run a memtest. If it isn't the GPU nor memory it's most likely your SSD/HDD corrupting your data overtime (very plausible due to the temporary fix from reinstalling windows and already proven bad SSD firmware from some manufacturers) or if you are overclocking your 2500k, a non-stable overclock.
Then what is causing my BSODs? [editline]17th December 2011[/editline]
But either way your problem could be easy or hard to fix, first thing you should do if you haven't already is run a memtest. Now to hope I can get on and burn this memtest before I BSOD again.
I edited my post with more information, also what is your SSD? There have been quite a few SSDs shipped with firmware that had major corruption issues.
It's an Intel 80GB something or other.
I've not heard of any Intel SSDs corrupting data or causing any widespread problems at all really so hopefully it is your memory.
Right now I'm doing the memtest, and I don't know what I'm looking at but it looks like my memory is the problem because I'm at 100,000 errors and rising.
100,000 errors? Sounds about right. But seriously, that's probably the issue, test with one stick each to isolate which stick it is and if you have warranty on the RAM just cash in on it, if not find out which stick and replace it. And just to confirm before spending money, once you isolate stick is faulty via memtest use the non-faulty stick/s as normal for a few hours under normal stress, just to give yourself some peace of mind if it's costing you.
Okay, I'll do that. But after posting that, I walked back to my computer to a BSOD. Here, let me get my list of common BSOD errors. The one I just had was: IQRL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and that was the first time I got that one. And the others I've gotten in order of occurrence are: SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTIONS CACHE MANAGER MEMORY MANAGER and BAD_POOL_HEADER I'll take out a stick and get back to you on the testing.
Just test each stick independently in memtest to isolate the faulty stick then double check stability by using the non-faulty sticks for a few hours.
Are you sure you've set your RAM timings, speeds, and voltages to the correct values they're supposed to be at?
One stick in, I'm getting 500,000 errors and rising.
Are you sure you've set your RAM timings, speeds, and voltages to the correct values they're supposed to be at?
Well I haven't manually set anything and I don't know what they're supposed to be set to.
I'd take a stick of RAM out and write the timings, speed, and voltage down (timings should be numbers like 9-9-9-28 and voltage should be around 1.5v, speed will bee 1066-1600 most likely) get those and then go into your BIOS and look for RAM / DRAM settings and set the numbers there. The most important thing is probably the voltage, if it's not set to high enough it could be causing errors, that or the speed or timings could be set to high. You could probably put the voltage up .1 or .05 extra volts to maybe make it more stable, or set the speed lower / timings a little higher than what they're meant to be. That, or just RMA them.
Does anybody know what a "tdownEvent," is? Windows Defender was kinda spamming me saying that I'm getting them. Whenever I cleaned them up, more would take their place. They've finally stopped showing up, but I'm not sure if I should be concerned or not. Edit: Nevermind. It's back.
