Which is the best virtual machine program? I have Oracle VM Virtual Box. Is it a good choice?
Which is the best virtual machine program? I have Oracle VM Virtual Box. Is it a good choice?
VirtualBox is great.
Virtualbox or vmware are pretty much the standard VM programs
What does 6GB of used DDR3-1600 CL7 1.65V ram go for these days? Specifically, I've got 6GB of OCZ platinum 1600 MHZ DDR3 in my computer (OCZ3P1600LV6GK). I want to replace it with a 12 GB kit (I only have 4 DRAM slots on my motherboard), so I looked into selling my current ram. Since OCZ pulled out of the RAM market a while ago, this specific ram is understandably hard to come by. I got the kit new for much more than similar kits cost today. I checked amazon, and the 12GB kit of this same stuff is listed at $400 or something. So some of the price inflation comes from the unavailability, but I'd like to know how much, because CL7 at DDR3-1600 is still high-end.
Virtualbox or vmware are pretty much the standard VM programs
Okay. Thanks to both :) I have problems connecting to the internet with my virtual machine, any good tutorials?
I got a free Siemens W340 today. When I hooked it up to my TV via VGA and to my keyboard using USB and installed Ubuntu from my flash drive everything worked perfectly fine. But when I managed to crash Ubuntu I had to force the power off, didn't think much about it and turned it on again and now it can't even get into POST. After keeping it turned off (on the backside of the PSU) it worked once for a few seconds but after I finished configuring the boot order in the BIOS it turned off again and now refuses to do get to POST. Any ideas what I could try?
Ordered me some Arctic Cooling MX-4, benchmarks and reviews convinced me to get it over AS5. Better temps, non-conductive, more of it for the same price. Also a Class 6 8GB MicroSD to replace my failing class 2 8GB in my phone.
Usually.
Can't install Internet Explorer 9 on grandmother's crapola Windows Vista computer. All updates except IE9 are installed, because I get error "Internet Explorer did not finish installing", and in true Windows style, it doesn't tell me shit about why. Googling told me about how having betas or release candidates installed can interfere: there were none, however. I even fricking uninstalled IE8 to see if it'd help but it doesn't.
Install chrome instead.
Not sure if this is the correct place to put this, please direct me to the right part to put this if I'm right. Well, I have a problem that's been going on for months now. Whenever I try to install Killing Floor through Steam, it gets to the "Creating Local Cache Files" screen, and then stops. When I try to close it, Steam freezes and I have to close it from the processes in the task manager. I only have this problem with Killing Floor. When I tried to install Half-Life and Left 4 Dead, as an example, they downloaded and installed perfectly well. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Steam no less that six times, so that won't help. Can anyone help?
Install chrome instead.
I already have doofus. Firefox too. I'd like to have the Internet Explorer that's installed be the most recent version though. Seriously, I don't see much of anything wrong with IE9. Good browser, in my opinion. Good Web standards (finally). If someone wants to use it, let them. It may be in a subfolde.r

Does the i3 2100 come pre-applied with thermal compound? if it does, would it be best to purchase my own as opposed to intels stock crap?
Does the i3 2100 come pre-applied with thermal compound? if it does, would it be best to purchase my own as opposed to intels stock crap?
on the heatsink, no its not really worth replacing - but it's good to have thermal paste laying around.
Fair dues then, guess I'll just grab a tube of arctic silver as well then. [editline]23rd December 2011[/editline] Also, I was looking at this: http://www.ebuyer.com/166269-cisco-linksys-wireless-n-dual-band-pci-adapter-wmp600n-eu is this a bit overkill for a wireless adapter or is it suitable? as sadly my girlfriend's mother won't let me run a cable through the ceiling and trunk it..
ok I have a 3 way SLi board with a gtx 560ti on it and I plan to set up an Sli in the future. tell me, would it be better buying another two 560 ti's (3 560 ti's in SLi) or buy a 590 to go with my 560ti.
Just overclocked my i5 2500k. 1.35 volts is ok right?

While 560 Ti's are a great value, the moment you get a game without any SLI support you're playing on a single GPU. But that's usually rare now days unless you're playing a specific game that won't support it like RAGE. [editline]23rd December 2011[/editline]
Just overclocked my i5 2500k. 1.35 volts is ok right?
As long as temps are fine, yea 1.35 is fine. What frequency though? I'm on a 2600k at 4.5 at 1.34 i think.
Every now and then I keep having random freezes/lockups, and this morning it wouldn't run for more than 2 minutes without just freezing, and event viewer shows me nothing. I did a driver sweep of my GPU drivers (ATi 5850) and that seemed to fix it, until just a moment ago while during a game it froze and did the repeating noise effect. Could this be my GPU dying?
Have you checked all your temperatures? If it's overheating the GPu driver cans top responding as it tried to reconnect to the hardware.

Edit: Gone down to 1.3V, going to try and go lower when I next boot.
Have you checked all your temperatures? If it's overheating the GPu driver cans top responding as it tried to reconnect to the hardware.
I'll keep a eye on it while I play a game in a moment, and report back with what ATi's tempreture tool says.
Have you checked all your temperatures? If it's overheating the GPu driver cans top responding as it tried to reconnect to the hardware.
Temperature was around 60*C so nothing dangerous, it just froze again and event viewer is showing sod all. So I'm not quite sure what the issue could be but I have just looked up and all of my components are out of warranty so no RMA if there is a fault. I was planning on doing a upgrade soonish anyway.
1.3v for 4.5 will crash under load. Boots up =/= stable.
Thanks, I'll take it up a bit, Intel burn test times has increased so I guess that's not good. 1.33 seemed ok.

Bleh I want to order my 560ti now, but Amazon says it'll come in around Jan. 4th with Free Saver Shipping... That sucks so much. I'd get One day if it weren't $25. Does it really take that long around Christmas? It makes sense, but do you guys know if items actually end up showing up sooner?
