I have a Corsair XMS3 1333 MHz 4GB RAM stick (whose model is CMX4GX3MA1333C9) and, without doing proper tests, I thought that the RAM stick was borked (MemTest86+ threw some bad results for me) when I realized that my MOBO only works properly with a single RAM stick when it is in the second slot from left to right. To make it worse, I ordered two 2GB RAM sticks, also Corsair XMS3 1333 MHz (whose model is CMX2GX3M1A1333C9) and now I'm wondering if they will work together or not. Also, my MOBO is a Asus Sabertooth 990FX.
I need to make sure I have everything for building my new computer tomorrow!
I've got:
HDD x2
PSU
CPU
Mobo
RAM
Case
Peripherals
Anything I'm missing?
Operating System?

Cables for everything, and very probably a graphics card.
I got the graphics card and the HDD from my old rig, OS is pre-installed obviously.

Even though that's my default approach, i'd reccomend reinstalling the OS if you're changing so much hardware.
What he said. All your old drivers will mess up with the new hardware.
Sometimes it won't even boot. I changed just the motherboard (From a VIA based one to an nForce based one) in a rig I built for my dad (The board died) and windows flat-out refused to boot, not even into safe mode.
Is it possible that a memory leak in a program is caused by bad ram? Or are memory leaks always because of bad coding
Is it possible that a memory leak in a program is caused by bad ram? Or are memory leaks always because of bad coding
Code only, from what I understand.

See for yourself, check if there's data leaking out of any faulty welds on the chips
My family has a really old computer, and my old computer has compatible yet slightly better hardware. I was thinking of taking the hard drive out of the family computer, and putting it in my old computer, and then installing my old hard drive as a secondary storage whatever. Are there any major problems I can look forward to when trying this?
Change of plans.. Got another 50 bucks so now I'm looking at the gtx 570.
Will my 550watt psu be able to handle it with a 2600k, 2 hd's, and 8gb ram?

I think you will be fine, assuming it's is a decent make.

Sry. Forgot to mention.
It's a 550 watt antec truepower trio. The card would be some reference/stock 570 as I am limited to 330.
EDIT:
Can someone recommend me a 570 that's 340 or lower including shipping?
I figure I might just go with the evga superclocked as it has a lifetime warranty.
EDIT EDIT: Holy shit there are 3 different superclocked cards.
This probably isn't the right place to post this, but I just got a Hauppauge HD PVR and it's failing to record my SNES gameplay. By failing, I mean when recording with ArcSoft ShowBiz, roughly every 10 seconds for about 2 seconds my TV loses the signal. This translates to the recording by completely skipping those sections. This makes gameplay impossible and recording ever more so. I'd really love some help. Here's my speccy:

1. Is it normal for my computer to randomly shift from its normal theme to the classic, barebones theme without any warning and without me opening any applications?
2. Is it normal for my computer to start having bluescreens and random crashes after blowing out the dust but it fixes itself after I manually adjust all of the capacitors (it was a last resort thing)? :v:
3. How can I lower the idle temperature of my GPU? It used to idle around 42 C but now it hangs around 48 C, even though I just made sure it wasn't dusty (this is unrelated to the incident mentioned in #2).
1: not that i know of
2: you blowing dust and handling parts may have loosened something
3: take off hs/fan, put new thermal goo on (i recommend AS5 or MX4)

Formatted and reinstalled windows. Still Freezing and bluescreening, but not in safe mode w/networking.
This HAS to be a driver problem somehow, maybe all my ailing gpu can handle is very basic vga drivers :/
I'm on a fresh new install. What codec pack would you recommend me to install?
I'm on a fresh new install. What codec pack would you recommend me to install?
k-lite
k-lite
Personally that's what I also planned to install but I wanted to be sure if there were better options out there. I heard that CCCP is also apparently very good.

CCCP sounds more likely to fail/collapse then k-lite.

Why is it every one of your posts makes me want to shoot you?

It was a joke.

I prefer CCCP. I don't honestly know the differences between K-Lite and CCCP though. I guess it's up to personal preference.

What's the best/least hassle way of getting rid of all ATI drivers and CCC?
I'm going from an ATI to an nVidia card (never done before), so I want to make sure there's nothing left lurking when it comes to install new drivers
I'm on Windows 7 64-bit

Remove them via Add/Remove programs first, then use that tool to get rid of the leftovers.

Okay, cheers

Guru3D says
The Guru3D - Driver Sweeper is fully tested on Windows 2000, XP and Vista. Both 32-bit and 64-bit versions are supported.
