no this is incredibly dumb
umm well let's see the first 3 are all corsair all with over 2000 ratings and 5 eggs
so??
Okay guys, I bought a XFX Radeon HD 6950.I put it in all went well until I realised that It requires Two six pins to power it.My Power supply only has one six pin and is a 650 W.So basically I need you to recommend me a new Power supply that has two six pins and a good amount of wattage, also for whatever reason my friend says I need an 800 W with two six pins.
So please recommend me a new Power supply.
If the power supply is actually decent (tell us what it is) just get a molex to 6+2 pin and you're set.

I don't know of a single PSU worth buying that's 600W+ and doesn't have at least 2 PCI-E powers

newegg reviews are made by morons
corsair is not always the best option
somehow I doubt those 2000+ people have access to the equipment you need to properly test a PSU
[editline]26th December 2011[/editline]
haha the top three are corsair's old mainstream line
and 7th is a 350W rosewill IED
are you seriously telling someone to use this as a reliable method
If the power supply is actually decent (tell us what it is) just get a molex to 6+2 pin and you're set.
True.
I run my 560ti off two of these adapters because I know it has enough power (And dedicated rails for graphics cards, it had two dedicated molex outputs for old AGP cards that used them) - As long as you know how to distribute the load across the different rails you are fine.

I've seen a few.
is it safe to plug in 3 pin and 4 pin case fans into a motherboard while the computer is on?
i have several old fans and i need to test which ones make loud noises
Comparing two SSDs:
I want to know what to get. This one: http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-2-5-Inch-Solid-State-CT128M4SSD2/dp/B004W2JKZI/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1324857781&sr=1-1

I'm leaning towards the latter. Your thoughts?

This is my power supply.
Although I have no idea where to get a molex to 6+2 pins.
The power supply was about double the price when I bought it.
Yeah I wouldn't recommend doing it with that power supply. It might decide to take up a new career as a firework.
Can someone post the Facepunch Smiley userscript please?
I can't find it anymore.

I did it Yesterday and it worked fine though,You see my brother brought over a molex to six pin but he needed to bring it back for his own computer. He told me to get a new Power supply though.
Budget is under 100 euro.I'll go 110 at most.

that's really too much, the 550W or 650W versions would be fine but they're not on dabs ie
if you know of any other sites you can use, check them for the xfx 550w or 650w
@juicelayer
step 1: newegg.com
step 2: search power supplies
step 3: order by best rating
step 4: choose one of the first 3 within your budget that fit your requirements
This wasn't my question, actually. I had written out a response on my phone, but it didn't go through I guess.
I thought it was weird that no power connectors came with his card, I just got the HD6950 by Sapphire and it came with both of the 6-pin connectors that transform to fit the 4-pin connectors.
Could he not just buy one of these Molex adapters?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812887001
Gonna get this http://goo.gl/m187X
Is this too costly for a 570 or should i go for it?

if a PSU is shit no amount of adapters are going to make it good
Im planning to upgrade my motherboard only, which only has a 4-pin cpu connector, the new one im looking at has an 8-pin connector but is seemingly compatible with my cpu, my power supply only has a 4-pin connector but since my cpu worked with the 4-pin will i just be able to plug it in the new motherboard and keep the other 4 pins unoccupied?

My thoughts: save your money, wait a year or two, spend half as much on a faster, more spacious SSD.

I don't recall him saying it was shit, I was just offering a possible alternative.

Thanks for answering my question. It's for my dad, it's his Christmas present. It's a big surprise too. He thinks I'm getting something for myself

Really? One person in another thread suggested that the ocz was faster.

Oh, well it really depends on how much you're willing to spend and how much you're planning to put on it. If it's just for Windows and a few programs (photoshop / office / business stuff / whatever your dad does) then a 64GB should suffice, maybe if you have the funds bump it up to 128GB. I suggest the Crucial M4 after reading some stuff on AnandTech a while back. Pretty interesting reads on SSD's there. They're in their infancy though, so you might drop $220 on one today and be able to get one twice that size and a bit more stable about a year down the road. I've wanted one for quite a while though. Hope he enjoys it.
the m4 is more reliable, the ocz just has a slightly better write speed, which writes don't matter much
Buying the crucial, then. Thanks guys.
I was wondering why the logon screen took longer than it should... Anyone know how to fix this?
