Will I be able to move my steamapps folder from my old computer (32 bit) to my new computer (64 bit) without any problems? (I just don't want to have to re-download everything)
I just bought 8GB RAM from Frys (2x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz, and my computer won't boot with it inside. It starts up for 2 seconds, shuts off, then turns back on, and does nothing (or at least visibly, the monitors show "No signal".). I force shut it down with the power button, and then tried again but nothing different happened. I then removed the RAM and started up and everything was fine. What do I do?
Yes, the Power Supply was in the off position.

I already have 8GB (2x4GB) of Patriot DDR3 1333Mhz, this new RAM is Kingston HyperX DDR3 1600MHz, motherboard has support for 32 GB (MSI P67A GD55). What should I do?
64bit?

it might be the speed mixing that it doesn't like

From what I've heard, 1600MHz RAM will automatically downclock to 1333mhz if that is the current speed. Will resetting the CMOS help?
i have a sapphire 5770 and a Samsung synchmaster b2430 monitor and whenever i turn my screen off the computer changes to a 800x600 resolution
but when i turn the monitor back on the normal resolution comes back
how do i fix this shit so my desktop icons don't get bunched together in the upper left corner every time i turn my monitor off?

yes that should fix it
I have an old hard drive from about a year or two ago. With my new build coming up I was wondering if my old hard drive would be compatible with my new build? I don't have the specs on me (different computer), but from what I gathered it should work fine.
If it is old, it'll be IDE, new computers use SATA, so it may not work.

You can also buy a SATA to IDE adapter.
So really, any drive will work

It is SATA. I remember when buying it.
What are the best headphones that I can buy as far as quality goes with a 250 dollar budget?
Is the Dell Ultrasharp U2312HM a good monitor? If not recommend a better one.

Are HDD prices really high right now? I've heard they're about doubled their price, and I am in need of a new one. I was looking into this one, but if the price will drop soon I'll wait.

The prices are meant to go down slowly until the end of this yearish.
It's funny that people cry over HDD prices and then don't give a shit about the people that died.
Now that I have had to replace my 570 order, do I get a 570 or an i5 2500k and a new mobo :suicide:
Current specs
9800GT
PII X4 970
12GB RAM
2x Spinpoint F3

I'm sorry but the people who died haven't affected us at all, the hard drive prices have though
It's like saying that people shouldn't have been concerned about the loss of the twin towers and the effect on the economy because they should have been thinking about the strangers who they didn't even know instead
It sounds harsh, but it's not wrong to think like that

You would be lucky to find a HDD only doubled in price, the F3's went up nearly 4x
Since this thread gets more coverage:
Ever since I've installed a new Geforce GTX 560, I've noted that not only have my games actually ran slower, (I recorded 30 fps in Batman Arkham city) I now hear static sounds from my speaker. Putting on headphones does not alleviate the problem, nor does reinstalling my sound drivers. I also have the latest drivers for the GPU. Has anyone experienced this before or have any fixes for or causes of it?

Replace your GPU, your processor should be fine for a while.

I replaced a 500w PSU with a 875 PSU in order to take the GTX. I'll try reseating it though.
Can someone please confirm that there are no performance differences/any major effecting variable between these?

The only difference is that the first has a displayport, HDMI and two DVI. the second has a miniHDMI port and two DVI.
