I tend to always buy cheap cases just because they don't add to the computer's power. He could add $80 to the budget if he bought a Haf 912. That build can have pretty much everything improved. [editline]14th June 2011[/editline] I'll just do a quick build
Okay, so, better GPU brand, less RAM, faster hard drive? GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127510 RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145261 HD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136533 How's that? Went with a cheaper GPU, a generation behind, with better ratings. EDIT: Oh, and my case alternative: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129042
Don't forget the whole CPU/Motherboard thing. Either get the 2500 and an H67 or a 2500k and a P67, don't get a 2500 and a p67, that's just a waste of money. [editline]14th June 2011[/editline] don't forget combo deals.
Okay, so, I'm a little torn between the GTX 400 and 500 series. I'm sure I want an NVIDIA card, however. My last ATI card was fine, but ATI drivers are a consistent nightmare for me. So, what are some better graphics cards? My total budget for this computer is around $1300 maximum.
I would recommend getting a K CPU and overclocking Overclocking on an MSI motherboard is literally pressing a button on the motherboard I'm at 4.2 GHz on the stock cooling with that sort of setup

Better build so far: snipped EDIT: OP wanted a change
Better build so far: snipped EDIT: OP wanted a change
Leave it up, I'm open to suggestions. EDIT: Okay, so, current questions: H67 chipset and i5 2500, or P67 and 2500k? Will the ability to overclock be worth the extra price? NVIDIA GTX 400, or GTX 500? Again, is the extra price worth it?
Leave it up, I'm open to suggestions.
It was P67/2500k opposed to your H67 choice. I'm optimizing it at the moment [editline]14th June 2011[/editline]
It was P67/2500k opposed to your H67 choice. I'm optimizing it at the moment
Alright, I like this build. I don't think I need to overclock anyway. Thanks for the help.
Alright, I like this build. I don't think I need to overclock anyway. Thanks for the help.
You could possibly squeeze in a GTX 570 if you wanted too
I wouldn't get the red RAM, there's others near the same price that are black/blue like most of the rest of the build.
I put together a build for you $25 off if you use these codes EMCKDKA22 EMCKDJF27 If you really wanted you could change the 570 to a 580
Right now I'm trying to connect my Bluetooth headphones to my PS3 so that I can hear the audio through em, but the PS3 is registering them as a microphone. I can't figure out how to and google has only led me to videos and guides for using your Bluetooth headset as a mic. What do I do?

I got my laptop last week and it's great and everything but I've been keeping tabs on temperature. I've noticed that my mobo's been getting up to the high 70's on rare occasions, and staying around 60-70c whenever I use the dedicated GT 540m for more than a half hour. Highest I've seen the processor get to is 65c. On normal use, the mobo's at 50-54c and the proc's at 46-50c. Mobo is an Asus N53SV, processor is an i7 2630QM. I've heard conflicting reports whether my temps are alright or not. Some things I've read say anything higher than 60c drops the life expectancy, while I've also been told that as long as it doesn't hit past 80c it's alright. Should I be worried about my temps, and if so what's a decent cheap (maybe $40 max) cooler I can get for a 15.6" laptop?

Also, I wouldn't buy a laptop cooler if I were you, they're pretty much a waste and you could build one yourself - if you're into that. [editline]14th June 2011[/editline] make sure you dust the heatsink fairly often - weekly maybe. Buy a can of air.
Ok, im about final on these parts since I'm going to order it tomorrow.. any last thoughts on it?

I've heard about using compressed air, I'll look into that.

A friend of mine once told me, many years ago, that it was possible to run both Windows programs and Mac programs on a Linux computer if you "knew what you were doing". Now, this guy was incredibly smart, so at the time I didn't doubt him. Is what he said true?

RAM? or PCI?
Wine? [editline]14th June 2011[/editline] Both, I guess? You should have two expansion slots open (the one for PCI-E and the one right by it) but I was talking about RAM. 2 slots? RAM? or PCI?
Before I try it. Does hot-swapping ps/2 keyboards still not work, or did they fix that?
Maybe a stupid question, but I don't know how to turn on the software radio for wireless on my ASUS G53Jw laptop. I disabled it somehow, but now I can't enable it, and the hotkey to do so doesn't work.
I've got a Mini-ITX (A MS-9803 more specifically), an Intel C2D T9300 2.5GHz (mobile), 4 GB OCZ DDR2 RAM at 667MHz, this PSU, and a Sapphire 4830 that I used my self for two years. The GPU overclocks very well. I got the PSU from my friend, as he got an Antec when he got his GTX 580, but it has powered a GTX 260 before. I would want to ask how much I could sell this for (with a case and OS that I'll have to buy for full price), I'm in Denmark, so prices are pretty high as a standard. My second question is if I can test the components by just placing the motherboard on a non-conductive surface (like a book or something) and short the pins for the startup button. All help is appreciated.
