Well seeing as newegg power calculator has NO IDEA what the fuck it's talking about (recommended 630w for a 955 BE, 2x2gb DDR3 sticks, 2 hard drives, and a 6850 at the time, it now says 464 but I still don't trust it), will I be able to run a single 6970 on a 600w Corsair Builder Series PSU? I won't be able to use the second 6970 until i get a sufficient power supply but i'll be damned if i'm not using one of them.

600 is fine, imo.
My father bought an Acer A500 tablet PC for himself. Good buy? He had to decide between that or the Ipad 2, I think the A500 is the better choice.
Ok I am honestly confused. If there is no way please tell me. Thanks.
Now that the motherboard I was hoping to buy does not support SLI can anyone reccomend me something that supports it?
Opinions on Akasa Venom cooler anyone?

I'm not really sure what you mean by sockets
is it something like AM3 or whatever?
Yes, it's your CPU socket type, of which AM3 is one of them. You looking at AM3 mobos then?
I'm thinking about getting a 560 ti. Is an i7 860 going to be holding it back?
[editline]3rd July 2011[/editline]
And would 500w need an upgrade for it?
i7 wouldn't hold it back.
And 500w might be enough, depends on the power consuption of your other parts.
Close call, you might need a 550w.

automerge :byodood:
uh why would you pay more for a worse brand
and he's in the US
Why pay more for the KFA2 than ASUS?
Overclockable more, gives about 10% better performance than the ASUS.
Quite noisy though.
I ran through Newegg's power calculator, and it said 470w. Should I still get a 550w?
Power calculator is very inaccurate.
If you can, get it with your current PSU but be prepared to get a 550w if you need to.
Its a stock gateway PSU by the way.
[editline]3rd July 2011[/editline]
Damn automerge

pay more for something you can do in 10 seconds by moving some sliders in afterburner? ok

Probably 40-50 bucks would be good. 60 if I have to.
Is the EVGA brand good for the 560 too?

Stock clocked, it's about 1fps behind a stock 570 and 3-4 fps behind Gigabyte's SOC version of the 560TI - which costs £25 more.
'Caus the cooler is good, the KFA2 can still be overclocked about 15% - beating the Gigabyte SOC and the stock 570.

There's no particularly bad ones, it's just figuring out the good ones.
Gigabyte's SOC is the best for performance, ASUS DirectCU II the quietest/coolest. The KFA2 is a good combo of both.

are you the sort of person who would actually buy Sparkle cards
and no stop recommending KFA
Why should I? They're a good brand.

do you really think 5Mhz core and 10Mhz shader overclocks are going to make a significant difference
and who the hell is Sparkle?

Well newegg doesn't even have the ltd oc edition, so this entire discussion is pointless ;p

sparkle is the proof that your statement of there being no bad GPU brands is false
sparkle, like galaxy/kfa, have to make niche products like low profile/single slot versions of high end cards because the only way they can get above the competition is by having none, regardless of how bad the cards are
[editline]3rd July 2011[/editline]
galaxy made a single slot 470, sparkle made a single slot 570
both are shit ideas and I hate to think of the temps of both
and kfa = galaxy under another name from anything I can actually find on it (very little)
KFA2 is the europe brand of Galaxy.
Also the KFA2 one is the lowest 560 ti for temps that Hexus has reviewed.
Q:What's the difference between VGA and DVI?
Q:What's the difference between VGA and DVI?
vga is analog and dvi is digital
vga is going to look awful at anything above 1920x1080 because of signal degredation while dvi looks perfect no matter the resolution
Can a ATI Radeon 3000 shared video memory(UMA) be replaced with a Ati Radeon hd 2600xt gddr3 512mb? And would 512mb still make it better than sharing 2gb or 4gb?

where are you getting this garbage that a very slightly overclocked 560 is better than a stock 570

yes yes
they're both horrible, horrible GPUs so don't expect anything
