EDIT: Nevermind, sorry.
I had a similar problem with Age of Empire 2, Explorer causes the colour problems, try using a batch script:
taskkill /F /IM explorer.exe age2_x1.exe start explorer.exe
Just put this in a text file (with .bat extension) in your fallout directory and replace 'age2_x1.exe' with the name of the main executable. This will kill explorer, let you play the game, then restart explorer when you quit.
For Fallout 1 and 2 there is a "better" way - their respective High Resolution patches. I want a new graphics card that can play GTA 4, ARMA II, and Battle Field Bad Company 2 at high resolution (1920 x 1080)and high settings. My computer right now: I don't think it is half bad just the 5450 is kinda bottle necking my computer I think. EDIT: sorry, my price range is about $100 - $175 I could go more but I need a PSU also. So any suggestions?
Can someone quickly help me with this? Where does this connect? (circled in light blue)

That's basically the whole thing and I don't know what kind it is, it's very old. But considering the length of the cable I thought it was the slot right under the power cable in black (diagonal from the sata cable) but it doesn't fit.

SATA cables have an L notch. Try flipping it around.
I have a 2.5" laptop hard drive that I need to get access to. I've read around a bit and it sounds like I should be able to plug it into a desktop and it will either work flawlessly or fry the drive. Is there a "safe" way to do this such that the second situation can be avoided? And if I fuck up and the drive is broken, could the data still be recoverable? It would suck pretty hard if I lost all the data. [editline]10th July 2011[/editline]
Best Linux distro for a guy wanting to learn more about Linux? [editline]PENZ0Z0Z0Z00Z[/editline] Mint looks good, any thoughts?
If you actually want to learn, Arch. Installing and setting up a system requires a lot of reading (on the wiki and forums) if you're new to Linux. But once you do get your system up, you'll have a pretty solid base of Linux knowledge.
working on a compaq computer, the motherboard gives me one short beep, and one long beep apparently it's a memory problem, but I tried booting with 1 stick, and swapped it for another working stick, still doesn't work so what could be wrong? I'm guessing the motherboard is at fault here.
. Are you sure? SATA cables have an L notch. Try flipping it around.
Ok it fit into one of four colored slots. Now when I start it it's loud as fuck and shuts down after I log into a user account.
Best Linux distro for a guy wanting to learn more about Linux? [editline]PENZ0Z0Z0Z00Z[/editline] Mint looks good, any thoughts?
I tried Ubuntu first and now I'm using Mint, and Mint is essentially a more complete Ubuntu. Either one of those two would be good I think.

[editline]PENZ0Z0Z0Z00Z[/editline] Mint looks good, any thoughts?
mint is nice if you dont want to dedicate a half day to setting up your system, but if you can, i suggest arch, or if you want to spend the full day setting it up, gentoo
I use a TV as a second monitor, and for some reason the screen is offset by ~20 pixels or so to the right. [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/AD3xz.jpg[/thumb] I can change the settings on the TV to adjust it, but it's awfully annoying to do this, it keeps resetting. I don't know what kind of info would be needed to help troubleshoot this, so I hope this helps: It uses VGA but my video card (GTX 460) only accepts DVI and HDMI, so I have a VGA/DVI converter on the VGA cable from the TV. I'm using Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. I have no clue what is causing it, none of the settings in windows seems to be causing it, and I don't know if the converter could be the cause. Does anyone else have any ideas?
I just got Fallout 3: GOTY from steam and in the past 2 days it's frozen 5 times. My GPU drivers are up to date and my temps are just fine. CPU is around 55-60C and GPU is around 45C. Specs here. How can I fix this?
Anyone know whether the screens on a tablet PC is resistive or capacitive? Or it can be either?

My birthday is coming up and I want to upgrade my graphics. Is it worth buying another GTX 460 and an SLI motherboard + new CPU and RAM or for the same price as all that should I get a GTX 580? Alternatively should I wait for the next gen stuff? I'm less keen on doing that since my birthday is just over a week away.
I need a simple program, something that sits in the task bar and shows me how much I've downloaded in a given time frame which also doesnt reset on shutdown, recommendations?
Laptop recommendation: Looking to spend at most £1000 (but less is preferable). Want to play games (like World of tanks, HoI3, Men of War). Will be doing computation/numerical simulations using IDL. Would prefer Sandy Bridge. Screen size is not important, nor is weight but just want a good quality screen and keyboard. I have found a few potential laptops: Acer Aspire 5750G Acer Aspire 5951G ASUS N53SN-SZ085V SAMSUNG NP-RF511-S01UK ASUS N73SV Thanks in advance.
Is there a way, in Chrome, to have the "alt" attribute of an image show up when the image itself cannot be loaded? Currently it just displays a "broken image" icon there.
Have you tried looking in the settings of the nvidia control panel?
I just went through it, and the only thing I could find that might affect it was this: [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/D2lfL.jpg[/thumb] But if I tried moving it to the right, it acted as if the black space was the edge of the screen, when it's not. I'm starting to think it's an issue with the TV, and nothing to do with the computer.
Thinking about buying an SSD for my computer. If I bought one, and ran my OS off of it, and then had my games on another hard drive, would the games load quick? Or normal?
If I was to take my current HDD, remove all the drivers off it for things like GPU, motherboard etc, put it in an entirely different computer, and install new drivers would this work? I understand a format is preferable but can't be fucked with that at the moment.
Can anyone recommend a good capture card for recording HD gameplay?
if you are willing to spend, Blackmagic intensity pro
Should probably mention it needs to have HDMI input, lots of ones I've found seem to only want component for some reason.
