What is 'ricer' hardware?

Basically means to try making your asian import car (hence rice, cause asians) look cool/high performance when it clearly isn't
Which is funny when applied to computer hardware because it's all manufactured in asia.

have some examples:

and specifically:

Examples of things that aren't ricer:

http://fractal-design.com/
http://www.silverstonetek.com/ (for the most part)

This is by no means a conclusive list but should give you pretty good idea.

looks cheap and tacky, generally does perform well
So are pretty much anything nowadays.
I want to overclock my CPU from 2,8 to like 3.0-3.2 ghz (i5-760 quad).
How would I undergo this? All google searches have led me to extreme overclockers aiming for 3.8 and stuff which means(?) they had to do a ton of changes in BIOS
I have 4 fans and a stock CPU cooler
Anyone know if the Coolermaster 550 Silencio has got the room for a GTX 580? Read reviews, often don't say.

just go into the BIOS, unlink RAM freq and CPU freq and bump up the base clock a bit until you get ~3.0
you shouldn't have to make any changes to the volts nor get new cooling I think
Is thisa good build? Everything compatible and whatnot? Also, would I be better with my current processor or with a Sandy Bridge i5? I'd just upgrade to i7 but I'm on a budget.
Someone disagreed but could someone elaborate?
Can someone recommend me a good Sound/music editing software. I want to create snippets for HLDJ to play in game.
Is Audacity good?
What mouse would you recommend, i'm looking for one that is built for constant use, a lot of movement and has a good lifespan, i'm using a basic Microsoft Comfort mouse, but since i'm upgrading soon i'm taking the chance to upgrade peripherals as well!

No. :colbert:
My Coolermaster heatsink is far from ricer as is my Thermaltake V2 case.

I personally don't think of those two companies as ricer.

Ricer.
you need to learn the difference between ricer product and ricer looks
http://coolermaster.com/category.php?category_id=3584
Ricer.
ricer implies the product sucks
ricer implies the product sucks
Indeed it does.
especially since you say nothing corsair makes is ricer, and yet there's gamer series PSUs, corsair link, vengeance RAM, RAM fans, this
I would define ricer as things like the LEDs in a fan. They're unnecessary acessories that's just for looks and doesn't have any important function.

There's always exceptions and corsairs primary market is enthusiasts. CM's primary market is people who like ricer shit.
Indeed it does.
ok so I hope you realize calling any HAF case ricer is incorrect

Red LED fans, HAF printed diagonally across the side to look gritty, pointless ribs all over the place, over priced and over styled.
rrrrrrrrrrrrricer.

I see you still don't understand the definition of ricer
someone who joined in 2010 wouldn't understand anyway, the HAF 932 and Antec 1200 were the two most popular cases on the market mid-2008 to mid-2009
Okay let me correct that.
It's not ricer, it's just overpriced and shit.

You really have no clue what the fuck ricer is. Go look at fucking NZXT cases. Fucks sake.
Also, "NO ONE CAN LIKE THE THINGS I HATE!" Is all I've seen in these posts.
Someone disagreed but could someone elaborate?
I assume it's fine.

It's overpriced thus bad. The fractal design define XL is loads cheaper with nearly the same features and isn't trying to appeal to cod playing 12 year olds.
How we judge the quality of products is largely dependent on price. My Sennheiser HD558's are shit compared to the HD800 but you don't go around saying the 558's are shit because in their price range they're a good choice. If the Creative fatal1ty headset was $5 people would be praising it as an excellent budget choice.
Haf cases are overpriced, thus shit.
Hey facepunch! Is it okay if I mix these two RAM's? I built a computer using the RAM on the right a few years back and I'm looking to do a bit of an upgrade.

The only difference I can see is the "DHX Cooling" stuff for the more expensive sticks. I do game some, and more importantly do a lot of video editing, 3D animation, and other computer intensive stuff. Is that cooling shit worth the extra 30 bucks?
Has Nvidia fixed the GTX 460 crashing issues?
I'll be getting a EVGA GTX 460 but upon google search I've found out people have been having issues with the card.

Mixing ram generally isn't a good idea but they're from the same company, have the same speed and timings so it shouldn't be any problem.
If you're lucky they just used the same memory modules for both models and just charge an extra $10 for the dhx cooling.
Considering the rebate it's a good move to get the cheaper ones, you shouldn't have any problems.
[editline]15th July 2011[/editline]
Also no that cooling won't make a lick of difference unless you overclock them to hell and back.
