Mixing ram generally isn't a good idea but they're from the same company, have the same speed and timings so it shouldn't be any problem.
If you're lucky they just used the same memory modules for both models and just charge an extra $10 for the dhx cooling.
Considering the rebate it's a good move to get the cheaper ones, you shouldn't have any problems.
[editline]15th July 2011[/editline]
Also no that cooling won't make a lick of difference unless you overclock them to hell and back.
Okay great thanks I'll go with the cheaper ones then!
And another question. I'm also looking to get a nice monitor, is there anything I need to look out for is it really just a matter of what size/price range I want?
There's always exceptions and corsairs primary market is enthusiasts. CM's primary market is people who like ricer shit.
if their primary market is "enthusiasts" then why is it all of their ricerish products are recent, suggesting that their primary market has changed to "whatever sells"
oh wait aren't you the moron who thinks if a monitor isn't IPS it's not worth buying regardless of budget, nevermind I'm wasting my time

Depends on your budget and how much you prioritize quality.
If you're able to spend/save up to about $300 I say get a Dell U2311H (or U2211H if you're poor, same monitor just an inch difference in size). It uses IPS technology (in plane switching) which is as opposed to regular TN (most used today, shit color accuracy) or VA panels (slow response times I think).
The difference is really quite amazing, I've been using two U2311H's for something like a year now and I could never go back to TN monitors. It's like listening to a pair of great quality speakers or headphones. Everything sounds like shit afterwards when you have a point of reference for real quality.

Hah, timing.
Has Nvidia fixed the GTX 460 crashing issues?
I'll be getting a EVGA GTX 460 but upon google search I've found out people have been having issues with the card.
I heard nothing of problems with 460s
you'll always find issues if you just google "[product] problems"
Okay let me correct that.
It's not ricer, it's just overpriced and shit.
wrong-o, the 912 is a perfectly solid case, with great features. Is your idea of ricer "anything that isn't matte black and perfectly rectangular"?
[editline]14th July 2011[/editline]
also is there anything particularly wrong with a drive that idles at about 68C? It passed the last few S.M.A.R.T's i ran with flying colors, but i'm a little worried about the heat. My graphics card doesn't exhaust into the case, and the internal temps are usually around 40C, so it has to be something wonky with the drive itself. How worried should I be?

Well the thing I found in common with it is that they were all either Gigabyte VCs or on Gigabyte MBs
Also, I have an ATI Radeon 3000 series card currently and I was curious to know if I would need an adapter for my screen which is a standard LCD screen 1440x900.
I totally admit I was in the wrong blanketing cooler master as ricer, and the 912 does look fairly priced but I stand by my opinion that the X particularly is overpriced and shit.

You shouldn't need an adapter, your graphics card should have VGA and DVI out and your monitor should have VGA in considering the low resolution.

Alright cool. And thank god for the lower Resolution, better AA and AF :v:
Although the games I play are back from 2007 and maybe a little more recent.
Can't wait to play World in Conflict on full settings!
Installed a new 560 ti (upgrade from 260), and the screen looks blurry. I did some googling and wound up with this guide. Only problem is Phoenix can't find my monitor's EDID.
ITT: Claim products are ricer without using the product

He likes it, let him like it. Stop being an asinine control freak who has to force his opinion on others.
Anyone got a good program to rename lots of files?
Need to do stuff like remove some characters at the start of filename, convert underscores into spaces etc.
On Windows.
Bulk Rename Utility
http://www.bulkrenameutility.co.uk/Main_Intro.php
Has all the features you need.
Most confusing UI I've ever seen.

Ah, figured it out now.

Cygwin?
Anyone know if a 5770 could do PhysX at all? If not, what would be a good, cheap, dedicated PhysX card be?

Geforce cards are relatively cheep especially the 8000 thousands.

you don't want to use amd cards for physx, they'll work but nvidia cards are much better for that kind of thing. get an 8800/9800 and slave it to your better card, it'll be great

uh it won't work at all, it runs on the CPU if you have an AMD card
getting an NVIDIA card to run PhysX with an AMD card won't work either unless you use custom drivers
Could someone recommend a decent set of computer speakers for $100 or less?

I believe GPU PhysX is Nvidia only, and it is disabled if you use a Nvidia GPU for PhysX while using an AMD card, unless you get modified drivers.

You will probably be better off getting headphones. Speakers don't shine through against headphones until you start spending high amounts of money.

You're comparing the HAF X to the Define XL?
HAF X is like 4x the size with 500x the cooling capability.
:suicide:
HD6850 with XFX Pro 450W, will it work?
the AMD site recommends 500w, but i believe that was a overestimate.

I'll get a cheap pair of speakers (Just until I am able to get a decent speaker set and a soundcard) and buy some decent headphones.

the only thing that matters is amperage
I'm getting a new laptop and I'm looking for good anti-virus software; recommendations?

You'll be more than fine.
I installed F.Lux but it insists that 21:00 (I installed it some time at 21:XX) so it's white during the night rather than the day.
What can I do to stop this?
How do Kindle's compare with reading a regular book?
Which do you prefer and which kindle is the best deal?
If I was to get an EBook online in a PDF format how well does it handle PDF's
I'm building a desktop computer, but is going to be located nowhere near my (Linksys E2000) router to connect to it via wires.
My question is which is better to connect a desktop to the internet wirelessly - a USB adapter or a network card? And can I get recommendations for quality ones under $50?
