ohhhhhhhhhhhh
Now it makes sense

What needs replaced the most? I mainly use this PC for gaming and audio. My budget is about $200 for now.

For now, I'd start with the graphics card. You'll probably want to do a full system overhaul at some point.

Or you can always crank them all the way up to max and watch your graphics card hover! :v:

Someone recommended me this

Well, multiple people.
Biostar motherboards are bad, avoid them.
God damn it, what can I do with $200 to make this piece of crap play games? TAKE MY MONEY!
Keep saving until you can replace mobo/ram/cpu and gpu
After some thought that seems like the most logical option.
Ok, recently my computer has been blue screening. It's very rare that I am able to actually get to the login screen, it just goes in an endless loop unless I'm lucky enough for it to progress far enough for use.
I know relatively little about computer hardware. I've never bought or installed another component before for fear of fucking something up somehow.
I managed to take a picture of the particular Blue screen, the error was IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Using the power of google, I found out that the most common causes of this particular error is either an overheating CPU or bad RAM.
I installed SpeedFan, done some tests, but the CPU appeared completely fine. The temperature rarely exeeded 50c. It's running at a healthy 40c right now.
Which meant that it was probably bad RAM.
That is where my problem lies. I have no fucking idea what RAM to get. I don't know whether to get DDR2, DDR or whatever the fuck it is. I don't even know where to put it, or how to even install it. Do you just put it in or what?

Thought I best post my specs:

Help would be appreciated.

I think you're best off just building a new computer. You can move your hard drive over to the new computer to get your game saves and what not but don't expect it to boot from your old drive without tinkering.

No, not possible. Can't spend more than £50/$80, and even that's pushing it.
AMD Phenom II X6 1090TBE/AM3 3.2GHz
or
AMD PHENOM II X4 980 3.7GHz
(Both are Black Editions)
Which one should I buy? Both have the same price.
x4 955
[editline]17th July 2011[/editline]
980 isn't worth the price, and the 1090t isn't either.

X4 955
the X6s aren't great and anything over a 955 is just an overclocked 955 (sortof)
[editline]18th July 2011[/editline]
with the price difference between the 955 and 980 you can buy a good heatsink to overclock the 955 with and go higher than the 980s stock

The store I was thinking of buying it doesn't have the 955, but it has the 965. Should I buy that then? The price difference to 980 is ~50€. The 955 would have like ~60€ I quess.
[editline]18th July 2011[/editline]
There's another store where I could buy the 955, but I don't own a car and I'm too lazy. :v:
[editline]18th July 2011[/editline]
Oh, and the reason why I'm gonna update my processor, is that I have a extra ATI 5870 waiting to be put in Crossfire. My current dual core can't handle it.
So I quess an overclocked 955/965 could handle it just fine?
[QUOTE=myalt22;31185895]No, not possible. Can't spend more than £50/$80, and even that's pushing it.[/QUOTE]
Try running Memtest86, and see what results you get.

Well then start saving up to build. Because that level of hardware is [b]not[/b] going to cut it anymore in the land of today. Doesn't matter if it's Crysis or MS Word.
Yes, you do need to buy RAM for this computer now, I get that. Hit that with your $80 and start your computer savings fund with the change from that. Throw in a way for us to wire money, I'm sure most of us have a couple bucks floating around we can throw at you, and I'd give you a bit of money soon as I get paid.
I'd say Speccy would tell you what kind of RAM you have, but evidently it doesn't know either. Which is very odd.
Would anyone know of a logging software for Windows that would log e.g. every 5 minutes the current top 10 network using software?
nice interesting and very informative post, thanks for sharing.

[QUOTE=MasterFen007;31159056]I installed F.Lux but it insists that 21:00 (I installed it some time at 21:XX) so it's white during the night rather than the day.
What can I do to stop this?[/QUOTE]
Quoting since I need help badly.
Try explaining it a bit better than "It insists that 21:00". Is it always on 21:00 or what?
(UK): I'm going to university soon, and I've been allowed a new laptop. My budget is a max of £900, and I think I've brought it down to this decision (though I don't mind external suggestions):

Oddly, the T520 is about £50 more but seems to have much lower spec (no dedicated graphics, only 2GB RAM etc). Any help would be appreciated.
Hello. I recently updated the drivers for my SLI'd 7900GTXs. After doing this, the Nvidia manager opened. It simply asked if I wanted to enable SLI. I just automatically though "but of course!" and enabled. Later, when I tried to start a game, the screen flickered and I went to BSOD ChkDsk. I just immediately shut the computer down(after chkdsk) and opened the case to check the temp of the graphics cards. For some reason, graphics card 1 felt extremely hot, and graphics card 2 felt as if it had not even been on.
Any help? I am too afraid to run a game.
JUst was playing minecraft, and it started lagging like mad. Checked GPUs, and heat was the same- one cool, one really hot. Shutting down to avoid BSOD
Another EDIT; Checked temps in RivaTuner, GPU 1 was running at 48 degrees, GPU 2 was at 40-41 Degrees. Fan RPMs were also markedly different.

So it's a laptop for school?
If you get those lenovos, you can enjoy all of 2 hours battery time.
Get something with AMD's new fusion APU's, a laptop runing E-350 will have up to 6 hours battery life and decent 3d peformance. Plus it'll save you a bit on money.
Also consider that if you intend on carrying it around, 15" and 14" (i have a 14" thinkpad L412, 3 hours battery life and heavy as fuck) laptops you need a bag for and are a pain in the ass to carry around anywhere. 13" and smaller you can basically just carry in your hand everywhere, and if you get a laptop with the E-350 APU, battery life will be so good you won't need to bring a charger.
I have 450 dollars to put together an HTPC for my parents. What is a good HTPC case for an ATX mobo? Something that sits horizontal, too. Cabinet top, i think it's called. It needs to be like 60 USD. And here is what I have so far.

The T520 usually get's at least 6 hours from the reviews I've seen. Size is fine, I currently have a 15" Acer (it's not very good, it overheats and runs out of battery in about 30 - 60 minutes) and it is heavy. I will be programming with it, so I would much like something which is at least a bit powerful.

Yeah I was looking at that, it looks the best I've seen. Thanks.
