I've bought this build (hasn't arrived yet though) but I have a few questions, here's all the parts: Is there anything I should worry about? My room is usually very hot, but the case does have 3 big coolers. What do you guys recommend to get maximum performance? Any applications/system tweaks/overclocks?
I don't think you understand even basic thermodynamics. Your pc generates the same amount of heat regardless if you have 2 or 20 fans cooling it. The fans just carry that heat away from the computer so it doesn't overheat. Basically a well ventilated case means it just transfers the heat from the pc into your room faster while a poorly ventilated case keeps the heat inside the case, meaning your room is a tidbit colder while your pc overheats. Fans don't cool air, if anything they heat it up because they expend energy as heat. All fans do is move heat from one place to another.

My point stands. Should I be worrying about anything at all? My 4670 already idles at 60c-ish so should I bother with more case coolers or not?
Well, one of my RAM slots has decided not to work[1], and and the same time the computer is claiming I have a floppy disk drive installed (which I don't)[2]. Could it be something to do with the RAM, motherboard, or something else. I suppose more importantly, is it fixable without buying replacement parts. I could probably afford to replace the RAM, but I don't have the money for anything else.
1) This could be a dead stick of RAM or a dead slot. If it's the slot you need to replace the motherboard. 2) Just go into the BIOS and tell it you don't have a floppy drive. Don't ask me why it suddenly thinks you do.
Could I get anything for a Intel Pentium 4 540 @ 3.2ghz? (Such as if I sell it)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814134121 Why is this card so cheap when a 460 is like $200?

How about a new question - How much of a performance increase will I see upgrading from a GT 240?
How about a new question - How much of a performance increase will I see upgrading from a GT 240?
upgrading to?
The card I posted prior. Forgive me if it's a stupid question, I never claimed to know what the fuck I'm talking about. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814134121
That's more of a downgrade if anything.
Yeah, looking at the benchmarks it wouldn't be worth the money, thanks.

So I have an interesting question for you. My main desktop computer is having problems with the mouse under Windows. Occasionally the mouse will stop registering movement, and any button I'm pressing when it happens will remain "held down" even if I let go of it. It never lasts for more than a couple of seconds, though that is enough to make me walk into a pit of death in some video games (I use Mouse4 for forward). However, when I'm booted to Linux this problem never happens. I can play Quake3, Postal 2, Prey, any Linux game for days and not see it happen once.
Hey, I recently tried to get a program and it downloaded all this crap (Which I thought I deleted) and was bored so I went to my browser which was closed by the download. When I opened it my homepage changed from google to a site called startnow and whenever I type something into a searchbar a link with startnow in it pops up in the searchbar like so Also I cant delete its folder
Change your default search engine by rightclicking the address bar and clicking "Manage Search Engines." somewhere in the main preferences is the homepage settings.
So while at work today while unloading some boxes a whole shit load(hundreds) of unopened copies of Windows Vista Ultimate came out, after asking if I could have a copy for my computer I got the OK. I just got home and opened up the plastic wrapper thinking it was just one 32bit disc but It turned out to be a 32bit AND a 64bit copy. So my question is, Would I be able to install 64bit on my computer? It's 32bit XP right now, and if not what would I need to use 64bit?
Backup data, format that shit, then install 64 bit on it.
I'm not sure if i should buy more ram, it lags pretty bad while running alot of programs.. Currently i have 4GB, 4GB more is about 50$. I have too much money. Y/N?
If the physical memory limit of a 32-bit system, in gigabytes, can be described with the following formula: Wolfram|Alpha Then the physical memory limit of a 64-bit system, in gigabytes, can be described with the following formula: Wolfram|Alpha Am I doing it wrong? Because it seems very... unrealistic.
Asking again: I can't see any images hosted on tinypic, and I haven't been able to for a month or so now. I can view the tinypic.com main website. How do I fix this?

Can someone recommend a good, current gaming laptop with hdmi output?
A budget would be helpful.

does anyone here own a thinkpad? specifically anything t-series, i'm getting a t40 for $65
does anyone here own a thinkpad? specifically anything t-series, i'm getting a t40 for $65
I've got a more modern lenovo thinkpad L412. It's decent, good build quality and all but battery life is terrible. For that price it seems like a fair deal though I think it would struggle even with XP. If this http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Category:T40 is what we're talking about, i mean.
Wow, RAM is that expensive in Sweden? I don't really think everything is so expensive here in Sweden. But maybe my 6950 2GB was a bit expensive though, 417$ for it. But it's doing it's job great, so I'm happy with it. Better than my 4850 512MB.
