As I said I'm not very well informed about the 120hz monitor market but Dell and Asus make good monitors that I have experience of. For what you're looking for it doesn't really matter, just pick one at your appropriate price range. It'll all be pretty much the same anyways.
http://i.somethingawful.com/forumsystem/emoticons/emot-suicide.gif [editline]25th July 2011[/editline]
As I said I'm not very well informed about the 120hz monitor market
should kind of make sense that you shouldn't fucking post about something you don't understand
This one: http://globaldata.pt/index.aspx?p=ProdDetailRef&ProdRef=HD-695X-ZNFC Unless you really need 2GB VRAM for some reason. And, well, dual fans. Doesn't matter much with the fans as you can only overclock the 6950 a specific amount.
I really need 2GB VRAM
I really need 2GB VRAM
Why? And in that case get the Sapphire with Dirt 3 and dual fans. But I really recommend that you have a very good reason for that RAM.
This is kinda hard to explain, but w/e Basically, I want to run Windows in VirtualBox on Ubuntu 11 OR some way to run most if not all windows programs (eg not wine since the program I'm trying to run doesnt work with wine it seems D:) I already dual-boot with windows 7 (HomePremium), but that copy came pre-installed on this comp. You might say why dont I just run windows for the games / programs I'm trying to run but I need to ideally run those whilst having some shit running in the background on ubu (a minecraft server :v:) So basically, is there anyway to instruct virtualbox to use the already installed copy of windows, or will I have to procure a .iso for it?

Guys, if I unplug all the fans in my build and leave it running overnight, will it melt? I have i7-2600k, currently not overclocked. I wanna unplug the fans so I can actually sleep :(

heh. Even if the fans are off, the heatsink's decent.
http://techpp.com/2009/11/11/download-windows-7-iso-official-direct-download-links/ Here you go.
So I dl those ISOs and mount them with VirtualBox? [editline]25th July 2011[/editline]
heh. Even if the fans are off, the heatsink's decent.
So. The heatsink only works if theres a temp diffrence between itself and the air around it. After this air gets hot, it WILL overheat and turn itself off
Why? And in that case get the Sapphire with Dirt 3 and dual fans. IIRC metro 2033 uses more than 2gb itself (ask brt, he should know about this).

If I am using two 9800GT video cards in SLI would it be more beneficial to use say a GTX 460 instead of the two older cards?

Hey guys, I need some help. I'm currently on my new PC. When I first got it, I installed Windows and Linux Mint on there. Everything worked great, networking was excellent, and I had absolutely no problems. Then I tried to install Arch Linux. I fucked up and then I had to reformat my drive. After some hassle I got everything properly working and had Windows successfully dual booted with Arch Linux. But now I have a problem: Steam can sometimes see and connect to source game servers, but most of the time it does not. the chances of me being able to see and connect to my server seem to be completely and totally random. This is not the first time I've had this problem. The same problem happened on a laptop we own, and I fixed it but plugging it directly into the cable modem. Now it's happening on my main rig and I simply will have none of this shit. Here's what I know. -The problem is most definitely NOT caused by a firewall or antivirus service inside windows, because when I plug my computer directly into the modem, it works. -The problem is most definitely NOT caused by any ISP firewall or other issue related to the modem, because when I plug my computer directly into the modem, it works. -The problem is most definitely NOT caused by a firewall or otherwise inside my router because it was working perfectly fine before I re-installed Windows, and I changed absolutely no settings what-so-ever inside the router. -However, the problem IS MOST DEFINITELY is with the router. -The problem exists ONLY when I am plugged into the router, either LAN or WAN. -As I mentioned before, I had this same exact problem on a laptop. The problem did NOT GO AWAY WHEN I DID A FACTORY RESET OF THE ROUTER. -the problem DOES NOT EXIST ON ANY OTHER COMPUTER IN THE NETWORK. -the ports ARE PROPERLY FORWARDED inside the router. I could host ANY SERVER FOR ANY GAME and have people connect. -If I can somehow manage to connect to a server, it never, ever drops me unless I tell it to do so. When I disconnect, though, I will most likely be unable to connect to a server, same or otherwise. More info: Router: Netgear Wireless-G Router model WGR614v9 USB Wifi Dongle: BelkinN150 This current conundrum manages to completely confound me in every possible way. I desperately need help here. UPDATE: I tried another factory reset. Didn't work. UPDATE 2: It also appears to be a lot more reliable when plugged directly into the router. Could Windows wireless problems be to blame?
Why not just turn it off at night?
Downloads And to clarify, finally I did unplug some fans - I left only the 200mm ones going, as they're quieter. Worked like a dream, never went above 40 celsius. I dunno why I was worried.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811995016 the knobs get brighter the faster the fan is going, so it's a bit bright when you have all the fans at full blast, but since I turn all of them off, at night, except the cpu fan, its acceptable.
I am stuck between the Xeon or a Pentium 4. Whats the difference? Is it worth the Xeon? (Xeon 2.4ghx and a Pentium 4 2.8Ghz are the only choices)

I loved it. The HyperThreading wasn't ever super useful but still, it was cool to fake a dual core :P
It's from a dedicated server host. I wouldnt choice either of them if i REALLY had a choice.
If the Xeon is dual core go with that, otherwise go with the Pentium. The difference between the two cpus is mostly that Xeon was built to be used on servers that could handle multiple cpus. Whereas Pentiums were more for personal computers.
Does anyone know where I can get an iphone case that's a battery pack as well as a keyboard? There's no general discussion in the apple forum and I didn't want to make a thread. Thinking about moving from android to iphone soon, perhaps when the next one is released.
If the hard drives burn my hand when I touch them, is that bad? [editline]edit[/editline] There are two HDDs on top of each other about a quarter inch apart with little to no airflow, made by Seagate. I don't know the rpm though. [editline]edit[/editline] The rpm may be 7200.
Very bad. It's been proven that drives running hot break faster, by far the easiest way to protect your data and keep your drive running is making sure it's being properly cooled.
Yeah if your drive is running at >50c you should be worried. http://storagemojo.com/2007/02/19/googles-disk-failure-experience/
I even removed some of the 5.25" bay covers and electric taped a 120mm fan in the hole to cool the hard drives I have mounted there using a Nexus double twin.
Holy shit just got my HAF 922, THIS is a case. Now I know what I've been missing out on. Is there anyone here with one who's tried removing the HDD cage?
HAF's are awesome.
I've got this i5 2500K setup and I need to buy memory for it. (2x4GB) Which brand do you guys recommend?
