I'm just worried over temps since my room is the hottest one in the house and I'm never sure of what's good or what's bad.
Just curious, what cooling are you on? Because I want to start overclocking but I'm still only on stock.
[editline]2nd August 2011[/editline]
Fuck it, I just went ahead and did it anyway. I'm idling at ~53 C in a 35 C room when I OC'd my i5 2500K to 4.2 GHz.
I'll keep an eye on the temps but this seems like it will be fine.

This is fine, I forgot to "unhinge" the CPU-fan cables that were going around the fan.
The temps on load were like 85.
Ok, I'm RMAing my motherboard and I can't seem to find my plastic CPU cover, I don't know where I put it, is there anything I can use instead to protect the CPU socket?
Looking at a new phone from Verizon. I have an upgrade credit, and I've narrowed it down to two phones. The Samsung Continuum or the HTC Trophy. Which would be the better bet? I have an LG Ally at the present time.

If you cant find it wash out a milk jug and cut a piece of it to fit the socket.
Make sure its washed

yeah I was thinking about cutting a CPU holder up to make it fit, but I'd rather wait a little and pay to get one shipped to me so they can't find a reason to charge me their $30 fee if something's not right.

I'd say get one dedicated to being a media center, like boxee or XBMC

I JUST ASKED THIS QUESTION AND THEN I FOUND THIS SECTION...
I can not get to my bios, my mobo wont post or display anything and hasnt beeped any errors. i need help. ASUS mobo M4A78LT LE AMD board.
http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1111588-The-Finale-of-My-950-Build
It's my first build and I've been trying to get it to boot. The only things I swapped out of this build was ram and used a EVGA 360, also a different HDD. So far I've been able to boot the thing up horizontally, I've seen it boot up the buttons on the case work and the lights and fans all start. I found the 24pin main connector a bit loose.
EDIT: Looks like it is the 24pin, whenever I close it case it bumps it out of the socket. The PSU is also making a small but noticeable sound. But I think the sound is normal, it's that stinging/ ringing sound the kind that you hear in movies when a bomb shell lands close to a person. You know were everything is slow motion.
EDIT: Actually the sound is like a tea kettle blowing out steam.
Sounds like capacitor whining or whatever. I'm pretty sure that the fact that a capacitor makes that sound doesn't mean impending for your computer, but you should probably look into getting a new PSU. What power supply have you got?

It's probably Dead on Arrival, last thing you could try is clearing the CMOS.
I'm planning on building my first PC just something basic, something that can run source game server for 2-3 people & run as a web server, and i've found a bare bones kit, but it doesn't come with a hard drive, can i just boot from my network hard drive or from a live linux USB? I'm thinking it's possible until my dad (whos pretty literate) mentioned about where it would store the boot sector, would it be easier just to buy a 40gb Hard Drive?
Is there any notable diffrence between Dual-Channel and Triple-Channel?

no

Save yourself the trouble and get a hard drive. They're dead cheap.
This is like the third time I ask this, but I never get a solid answer.
I have a computer, a LED and a home theater. I want to get 5.1 sound. How do I do it?
I connect the computer to the LED with a VGA cable, but, obviously, I get no sound. I can't do HDMI-HDMI connection because I don't get signal (probably because only my motherboard has HDMI output, my graphic card doesn't).
So, I was wondering if a HDMI-DVI can do the trick. Am I going to get 5.1 with that cable?
Buy a receiver, problems begone! If your MB has optical, just use optical with the receiver and voila.
VGA doesn't carry sound, neither does DVI.

Fuck. I was going to buy that cable. And I can't buy a receiver.
Let me present this as a problem:
I have:
1.- M3A78-EM Motheboard (supports HDMI).
2.- HD 4670 (doesn't support HDMI).
3.- VGA cable.
4.- HDMI cable.
5.- Home theater (dvd player).
I want: 5.1 sound.
What kind of speakers are you using? HDMI to TV doesn't work?
You could enable your onboard GPU as your main GPU if you're not gaming with it and just want to watch movies, or you're going to have to get an optical cable. It's also possible that your GPU can do HDMI (with audio) through DVI if it came with a converter that allows for that.
He wants a straight answer but doesn't provide enough information and then just gets up and leaves..

I don't really know how to answer that. I got a LG HT305.

And no, it doesn't work. When I connect the HDMI output of my motherboard to the LED it says "no signal".

Is that going to work?, as it seems that doing hdmi-hdmi doesn't work. I'm such an ingorant about this stuff anyway, so who knows.

Actually, I was too afraid to check the thread because I was expecting "how don't you understand you dumbfuck get out" or something like that.
Yeah, you might have to remove the 4670 entirely to get onboard working, though, but go grab a optical cable asap, they're really cheap online.
Can't find anything on the speakers, what kind of connectors does it have?

That wouldn't happen unless you insulted most of the community here.
also quit calling it an LED it makes me think of an HDMI cable connected to a tiny LED
just say tv!
