Is there any way to backup my Steam games category settings? Because I finally have my categories exactly how I want them and I know it doesn't save between computers.
I would assume it'd be saved in your client.blob file.
Would it be safe to run my system with This
AMD Phenom II X4 955 BD @ 3.8GHz
ZALMAN CNPS9700
GIGABYTE 770T-USB3 MoBo
Corsair XMS3 2x2GB DDR3 1333Mhz
GTX 480
Corsair Nova V32 32GB SSD
WD 250GB
It is the only spare PSU that I have and I would also run my CPU at stock clocks for the switch
its fine
its fine
The 480 is my main concern, and Do you think I will be able to keep my overclock?
OH, it's a 480. Didn't read that part. I dunno then, there's half a chance your computer will blow up.

Okay yeah it won't work.

only 430W of the claimed 600w on 12V rail, questionable OEM, and riced up
I wouldn't risk it

Well I am going to give it a shot and if it crashes Ill stop
Oh god don't do that. It won't "crash", it could blow up, push huge amounts of electricity into the machine and break everything.

I understand this, but doesn't at some point a modern power supply will shut itself off
Plus I have been using it for the last 15 min and no sign (or smells) of a problem, plus this is just to test and see if my old power supply is causing the crashes I have been having
Also the power supply is staying cool as a cucumber
What's a good keyboard with USB 2.0 slots on it? Mine died.
Most people (myself included) will tell you to get a mechanical keyboard and the only mechanical keyboard with 2.0 USB slots I can think of is the steelseries 7g, albeit it is expensive.
Depends on your budget really, "good" is a pretty varied term without a budget.

has usb 2.0

a 480 running 2D clocks uses less than 200W, it's fine if he isn't going to try and run games
Well there you go, never heard of the keyboard myself though.

That's because parts don't use nearly as much power when idling. Try running Furmark and Prime95 together, and prepare for a loud pop.
I doubt it will pop, most likely will just shut off or limit wattage on the 12v.
You guys have really warped minds when it comes to PSU's, yeah a quality one is definitely necessary but not every power supply not made by seasonic will just pop.
So I have literally tried everything to prevent these Crashes I have been having, I started having random crashes where the computer will freeze and audio will loop, Now I have had these crashes sense mid 2010 and at that time I had my Core 2 Setup but now with a completely new system minus power supply, Fans, and my optical drive. So I thought it would be a good idea to remove each of the older parts one by one to see if I could find the problem but no dice. Still had crashes with a different PSU and Disk drive, I never switched out the fans because I mean really could it be the fans?
Here is a picture of the Error (from Event Viewer) Same error over 163 times

Sometimes it will Blue screen and sometimes it will just freeze and have an audio loop
Now these crashes happen at any time when either browsing the Internet, listening to music, or playing games
I have done everything I can possibly do for I all I know.

Shit I forgot to mention I even Updated my BIOS
I had this brief idea in my head that after some thought I realized was a kinda bad idea, but I still want an opinion. I was talking with a friend, and I thought of building a wooden arcade cabinet, and turn it into a giant PC (not put a PC's case in the cabinet, more like the cabinet is the PC case). Though there would be obvious problems (mostly spiders) but it would have been kind of a neat project (which knowing the grim boredom of the internet, as probably been done).

At this point either the power going into your computer is fluctuating (or something, I don't know) or it's a software level problem. Was it a clean install of Windows when you got your new HD or did you use some HD cloning tool?

Been through five fresh installs of windows sense the problem started happening
well what the actual fuck
I'm stumped
I am looking for a new graphics card for my laptop. The card i have now is an AMD Radeon HD 6310 and it cant run much, does anyone know where i could get a better one thats not too expensive?
5770? IDK if it will fit in your laptop though.
The dimensions of my laptop are 15" x 9.9" x 0.98" - 1.3" Do you think it will fit?
[del]my computer won't do anything after booting it would just stay in a black screen with a flashing cursor
it isn't installing Windows 7
what do?[/del]
fixed it
So we got a free emachine from early 2000's that was used for nothing more than a glorified DVD player. I got the nifty idea to turn it into an emulator box meant for old games of all kinds because it looks rather old and it is.
It has an Intel Celeron process, 256 megabytes of ram, 40 gig hard drive, a Geforce 440(I literally mean 440 not a GTX).
My question is, would it be better to just flash the hard drive and install a small light weight linux kernal on it or just keep the Windows XP install already on.
Just bought a phenom II 955, XFX pro 450w and a Sapphire HD6850.. feels good man.
heres that amazingly late speccy screenshot of my newly built comp that someone asked me to do
What's a good wide-screen monitor for gaming/movies?
Between 19-25" preferably, budget £120-180.
