Yes and such is life with laptops unfortunately, only option is to brave the temperatures and burn your legs or get a laptop cooler.
well I mean is running at 80c for a while going to damage it? It's bullshit that they advertise this can play games, playing black ops on low graphics results in deafening fan noise and 80c cpu temp and a whopping 83c mobo temp. might send it back and get a different laptop.
As long as it doesn't go over 80 degrees, it will stay within operating limits. But just barely.
I mean like, are they compatible? [editline]12th August 2011[/editline] Or is anything missing?
Looks perfectly fine to me, pretty much perfect, although I would say get a 700w+ power supply so you can crossfire two 6870's in the future more comfortably.
Could someone tell me if an upgrade to this from this is going to be significant or even worth it? I would mainly be doing it because of the sub, but I'm not sure if I'm going to notice much of an increase in sound quality.

[editline]12th August 2011[/editline] Also, all I have is a VGA monitor. I need an adapter for the motherboard, right? [editline]12th August 2011[/editline] Come to think of it, how would you connect a monitor to the motherboard, anyway?
One last question before I order it, does it come with a heatsink, or will I have to buy one of those as well? [editline]12th August 2011[/editline] Also, all I have is a VGA monitor. I need an adapter for the motherboard, right?
It'll come with a heatsink but I strongly suggest getting a hyper 212+ if you can spare the extra $30: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103065 And I assume you'll be plugging the monitor into your graphics card right? Unless I'm missing something, if so you'll need a HDMI/DVI -> VGA adapter. Also one last thing, you may aswell spring for this 6870 instead: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150521 $7 more than your original one but a rebate gets it down to $166, which is cheaper and better than the one you were going to get.
Is there anything specific I should bear in mind before I create a watercooling-based build? Like, should I get a graphics card pre-built for watercooling or a reference one and buy a backplate? [editline]12th August 2011[/editline]
[t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13038989/1280457652723.jpg[/t] [t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13038989/1280457652724.jpg[/t] Has anyone seen these photos before? [editline]11th August 2011[/editline] If you have, do you know where they're from?
Looks rather like Swansea, but I doubt that's possible since you're from the US.
And I assume you'll be plugging the monitor into your graphics card right? Guess I am mistaken.
I was under the impression that you had to install drivers for graphics cards before you could use them at all. Guess I am mistaken.
No you do not, they'll automatically install the windows ones on first boot, then you just install the specific ones you'll download from the website. [editline]12th August 2011[/editline]
Is there anything specific I should bear in mind before I create a watercooling-based build?
Nothing really specific, just make sure you get everything you need, anti-kink coils can be a life saver sometimes, make sure your radiator can fit in your case (it's important to note that some radiators larger than 120mm (240/360mm) can have spacing between the two fans where as some cases will or will not have spacing, make sure to check before you buy one).
Ok, I have upgraded my pc sucessfully, although I encountered 1 problem. The HD6850 has 2 DVI slots, and I have 2 VGA screens using VGA to DVI converters. However the second DVI slot on the videocard appeared to be digital only, hence I am only able to use the top one which is both analog and digital. What is the cheapest solution to get my 2 screens running?
Repost.
HDMI -> VGA?
I don't suppose there is such a converter, but would you think a DVI>HDMI converter bundled with a VGA>DVI converter work? Edit: Somehow VGA> HDMI are extremely expensive. Makes me wonder if it would work. Nevermind, it's because I swapped them. Making analog digital is expensive.
So I built my computer and it won't start, all I get is the stand-by light on the top of the case. All the cables are connected and I am at a loss here. Do you hear any sort of beep sound?
No sounds whatsoever. [editline]13th August 2011[/editline] I took out the GPU and RAM, still got the same effect. I don't know what it could be, the 24 pin sits tight, the CPU fan cable sits tight, the 8 pin sits tight as well.
no one here has experience with a lenovo thinkpad x1 do they?
IT LIVES! Fucking power button connectors, lying with the color coding. [editline]13th August 2011[/editline] But now I cannot connect to the internet due to a missing Local Area Network connection Shit

I asked in FT, but I think here is more appropriate. Does anyone know of a converter that can take 256x256 .bmp and convert that to the vista vector .ico?
You should not be using VGA anymore.
Works fine tbh, I know I can get better by buying this and that but the truth is, I have no money left for a new monitor.
Is there a way to get rid of these stupid dotted lines around clickable images in Chrome? Seeing them in posts all the time, especially around emotes is getting awfully annoying to look at. Also is GMABooster any good? I want to play Spiral Knights on my netbook at something better then 10 FPS.

So, I bought a female to female CAT5 splitter for my PC and PS3 to share a wired connection. Is it going to split my connection in half, or will the bandwidth actively be shared as needed? I just want to stream netflix while I'm on my PC and whatnot.
It'll be shared as needed. Reminds me when my sister bought a HDMI splitter switch for her consoles and asked if she'd get half the definition since it splits it.
