Crysis 2 on ultra [editline]16th August 2011[/editline] I'm just gonna send it back to the retailer. Edit: I tested my old 4850 and it works fine. Now I'm sure it's just the new GPU.
Temperatures are pretty good, no problems there. Sure drivers and so forth are in order? And what's your PSU?
Temperatures are pretty good, no problems there. Sure drivers and so forth are in order? And what's your PSU?
BIOS and drivers are up to date, my PSU is a Corsair HX 750W [editline]16th August 2011[/editline] I sent it back to retrailer and they're gonna test it, if it comes back positive (faulty) they'll send me a new one.
quick question (or maybe not, all depends..) is it worth looking into quad core cpu's with up coming games like skyrim and battlefield 3 and all that jazz or are dual core still capable for those type of games? thinking mostly intel's i3's and i5's i mean yeah, we would all love to have the godlike PC's that can run... 24 applications of crysis at the same time (at max settings naturally. ) but i'm still looking at mid range specs, withen the 500 - 900 range your guys thoughts?
if you're allocating 900 for a complete build, then go for an i5 2500k. If that's just for the CPU, and you're just doing gaming, still go for the 2500k, you do NOT need to spend 900 on just a CPU if you're just gaming.
Almost no games support hyper-threading right now. 2500k will be plenty of bang for your buck for a while. .
I also thought about going 1366 thoughts on that?
I also thought about going 1366 thoughts on that?
there's pretty much no reason to use 1366 at this point, the 2600k is better than most if not all i7 9__s and most people have no use for hyperthreading and will do just as well with a 2500k not to mention 1366 is dead and waiting for socket 2011 to replace it as the enthusiast/workstation platform 1155 is the current mainstream platform, that's what you should be using

Get a GTX 460, LGA1156 is pretty much dead, go with an AMD Phenom II X4 955. Didn't check the motherboard, but you should probably get someone to choose for you.
That goes over $400 by $15 which is kinda pushing it since even $405 was a bit high for me.

And I wanted the GTX 550 Ti since a friend is sending me his old one once he upgrades so I can just SLI it once I pick up a new PSU.

You'll have to be sure that the motherboard is SLI capable, and overall it might end up being cheaper going single-card.
Both motherboards in the two wishlists were SLI compatible. I just wasn't sure which one to get between the i3 and the Phenom II x4 970.
Gmod is crashing on startup for some reason. I get to the loading page, but after a few seconds it crashes and I get a message saying "hl2_osx quit unexpectedly" How do I fix this?

[editline]16th August 2011[/editline] No, seriously. It's broken for the Mac at the moment. Garry needs to fix it himself.

How do people get like 16 processor cores? I assume it's by multiple motherboards. If this is the case, how does it work? If it's not, can someone explain it to me?

I have a greasemonkey script that I would like to not run on a specific fp page, because another script takes its job there. I have the breadcrumb for that page, so what do I need to add to the script for it not to run on that page.
Me and my dad want to make either a glass window on our PC case, or a plastic sheet. Anyway, to cut the hole, would it be best to template a hole onto the case side, or should we do something as a better alternative?
I have a copy of Windows 7 for a Toshiba laptop, and I was wondering if it would work with the new rig I'm building. On the case it says "For Toshiba computers" but I'm still unsure.

Anyone think I can do better on a $400 budget? Motherboard needs to support SLI/Crossfire though. Might be getting a GTX 550 Ti or a HD 6770 free from a friend.
avoid the 550 ti, if he does give you one just sell it and put it towards a better gpu
Well I'm working with this PSU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817702010 what would be a good single card solution?
I was just wondering about my PSU and NZXT Phantom case. My current PSU takes air from the back and blows out from the fan, what would be the best way to place it? as it can be placed both ways, the cable management is ALOT easier and better when the fan is facing down and the air is blown out beneath the case. And i was thinking maybe this could cause some overheating to the PSU as there's not alot of room for the heat to escape beneath the case? But I guess it doesn't matter which direction the air is blowing, just wanted a quick opinion on this.

Is there anyway I can swipe the entire hard drive on a 2008 macbook, without having to bring it to a store?
