not enough for a 3D system, sorry. PCs running in 3D need to be really powerful so that they can actually run at the required framerates, I think, and I don't see you getting more than 500
Well I'd at least want enough money to be able to build a superior system.

You could probably sell it for more if you put some LEDs on there.

I put on of those massive antec fans in it with the blue leds :D
What are some good computer pranks? Only lightheaded, simple stuff, like the prank where you take a screenshot of the desktop then set it as the wallpaper and hide all the icons.

Switch to root and delete your friend's password from /etc/shadow so when they come back and try to unlock the screensaver, it yells at him because he's giving the wrong password.
We have a Linux class at school, the classroom is full of Ubuntu machines, they have an account called administrator that's in the sudoers file and all machines have the same password on that account.
tape under the optical mouse is my favourite
Tomorrow I'm going to try to remove a torpig trojan on a friend's computer. I've read quite a lot about it on the internet and it's clearly not something that a regular anti virus will remove. If it doesn't work, I'll just format it.
Anyway, I was wondering if there's a way to see if the trojan is still on the pc? I mean I'm going to try a few tools, and I would like to know if the tool got rid of it or not, because the isp has disabled access to the internet there because of the trojan and they won't change it until you got rid of it (the isp says the only way is formatting and deleting and remaking the infected partition, but it's worth trying to remove it myself first)

Has anyone bought PNY Video Cards?
I'm think about getting that one or the EGVA. I know EGVA has good support, but last time I submitted a mail-in rebate, I never got the rebate back.

EVGA and MSI are great for nvidia, go with one of them, I suggest you get a 560 TI, it's not much more.

it's not msi or evga but go for it, or http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=458652&CatId=3669 if you can afford a bit more again

wow i hate tigerdirects misleading prices - that was after rebates.
[editline]25th August 2011[/editline]
also you have to be very careful of rebates, make sure you copy everything you send in and read the instructions 10 times and follow them 100% or they will be liek 'lol u didnt do it right' and always watch the rebate trackers if they have one.
It's as if galaxy cards try their best to be as ugly as possible, you get what you pay for I guess.

I won't have enough to get those. I barely have enough to the GTXs. My brother is willing to pay the 50 short I'll be.
Also, is a 560GTX THAT much different from a 460 GTX? I've seen benchmarks and there seems to be a 10%. However, the 460 GTX were OC'd.
Get a 6870 if you can't afford a 560 ti, better price:performance than the 460 or 560, faster and cheaper than both, even scales better than a 560 ti.

Does this Graphics Card come with a VGA adapter: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102948
It looks like it in one of the pictures, but I wanted to make sure before I bought it.
It does, two reviews say it came with a dvi/vga adapter.
http://puu.sh/4Na6
A review says it does, if it somehow doesn't I'll ship you one, I have like 20.

wow
I'm just that fast.
Sorry to bother you guys with these questions, but would it be compatible with this motherboard?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128510
The fact that the video card says "GDDR5" worries me.
It is compatible, and good choice of motherboard.
It is compatible.
Thanks.
I dunno. Everyone (personally) I've ever met who has had both Radeon and nivida cards has had more trouble with ATI cards.
Complete opposite for me, you should pick a card based on your budget and what you plan to use it for
not because one is nvidia or AMD, in the past the ATI drivers did tend to be less stable than nvidia's but
that isn't an issue anymore and hasn't been in a while.
I'm getting the 560 GTX, I struck a deal with my brother.

"Limit (2) rebates per person" Does may I have two rebates? Getting 20? or is two per item? Like if I order two.
Two per item.
If I reading this right, if I order one 560 GTX, I get both 2 rebate mail-ins?
No, if you order two, you get two, if you order three, you still only get two. With one, you get one.
Yes, it means two maximum.
Would it be as easy for me to play Quake 1,2, or 3 off of my thumb drive as easily as I play Doom 1 and Doom 2?
Try and find out, can't be that difficult.
Also I have a quick question, is there a program/windows gadget that will stay on my desktop
(preferably just as text with no graphic) that will stay up to date with the contents a .txt file?
I've been taking notes and to-dos via dropbox so I can sync them between my phone and computer
easily but it'd be nice if I could keep it on my desktop at all times so I don't forget rather than having
to open a .txt file in my dropbox.

You can find GLQuake on the Internet for Quake 1.
No idea about 2.
3 should work instantly.
I'm actually having a problem running Quake solely off of my thumb drive. I get this error that says it can't find steam when I try to execute WinQuake. Any idea on how to fix this?
