Unfortunately, auto-hide irritates me too for reasons I'm not quite sure of. I'm just gonna have to keep steam out of the taskbar :C
Try it for a day, I hated it too but then I started to like it. also move the taskbar to the right of your screen.
For video editing would it be better to have the i5 2400 + 8GB RAM or the i5 2500K + 4GB RAM? also what's the cheapest graphics card I can get that'll play 1080p movies? Thanks
Cheapest for playing 1080p would probably be Fusion 3850 APU combo.
Cheapest for playing 1080p would probably be Fusion 3850 APU combo.
Oh no, I just mean graphics card because I'm planning to salvage the crap graphics card from my old computer into the new build and then when I get a monitor to turn the old computer into an HTPC, get a new graphics card for it

[editline]27th August 2011[/editline] also how much can you overclock the 2500K on stock cooling? thanks

I would still go with the 2500K. Mind you that you'll need a P67 to overclock, though.

I want to use the onboard graphics for games and the other graphics card just for an extra monitor on which I'll web browse. Is this possible or will it automatically use the graphics card for games? Thanks
Okay sorry for all my posts, but I've just read 2 sources that say that H67 can overclock the CPU but not RAM, is this true?
is that bad? :( [editline]27th August 2011[/editline] my poor spinpoint, everything will be okay
what the fuck did you do?
is that bad? :( [editline]27th August 2011[/editline] my poor spinpoint, everything will be okay
That's a minor mechanical failure inside the HDD. If it keeps increasing, i'd back up Data as fast as possible.
I know about using wildcards in cmd to find all of a certain type, but is there a way to find a group of a certain type? For example, if I wanted to copy all images from one place to another: XCOPY "*jpg|png|gif|jpeg|bmp" "C:/Images"
That's a minor mechanical failure inside the HDD. If it keeps increasing, i'd back up Data as fast as possible.
It's still at 10, I think it was a one time thing. The performance on this HDD is still amazing, I love spinpoint F3s. [editline]27th August 2011[/editline] don't worry, I started windows update when the performance went down, so I just stopped it. compare that to my new cheap recertified seagate FRAPS HDD lol
Can someone recommend me a good Z68 motherboard for overclocking? I'd like to get my 2500K to 4GHz, but I want the board to have VGA (or DVI/HDMI) as well as decent enough overclocking capabilities. I don't want to spend more than £85 ish. Thanks [editline]28th August 2011[/editline] Okay how's this for a Z68 mobo: GA-Z68AP-D3 http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3897#ov It's 84 quid from Kikatek, and it looks like it has VGA and HDMI shown in all the pics of it, as opposed to just HDMI as the specs say. Either way, I just need some sort of graphics input and this has it. What's the deal with overclocking without manual voltage control? Is it still okay? Thanks
figured it out~
My ATi 5850 has broke, so I am sending it in for a RMA, but I know there is none is stock so what would be a good alternative to get? I bought it for around 150 quid from novatech so the replacement would have to be chosen from. I do run three screens with eyefinity but if its a Nvidia I'm planning on getting a SLi capable mobo when I upgrade next and use 2D Surround if thats the case as I have had a absolute tit ton of problems with the CCC software over the last 1-2 years.

Okay, so I wanted to build my family a new computer cause we kinda need one. My dad was all ready for me to show him my design, finalize it, and buy it. Well, the Best Buy ads have come out in the Sunday paper. My dad has found a computer that is better than what I'm building for us. It's $700 with a monitor and printer package deal. The specs on it are: -Phenom II Quad Core @ 3.0 GHz -1.5 TB HDD @ 5400 RPM -8GB DDR3 RAM -Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit -ATI Radeon HD 4200 integrated graphics Here's the computer on Best Buy's website. And this is what I have: What should I do, Facepunch? Should I tell him to go ahead and buy the one from Best Buy? Or, how can I convince him to let me still do the build, and maybe do a little better on it?
Can you identify this? It's a cable from some speakers that used to plug into my PSU.
Hello, I was wondering if I have any huge bottleneck on my system? Specs: [sp]i7 950 @ 4.0GHz 6GB 1333 RAM 2x MSi 580 3GB in SLi[/sp]
My room gets really hot. With that in mind, is it better to have the PSU mounted: With the fan on the top? Or with the fan on the bottom? I've heard mounted bottom side is better, bit I wonder it's still better it sucking in the luke warm air.
-most of post snipped- What should I do, Facepunch? Should I tell him to go ahead and buy the one from Best Buy? Your build's processor is one less core but .1 more GHz, so I think that they're about equal. Unless there's something between Athlons and Phenoms that I just don't get. Integrated graphics never do as well as dedicated graphics. They have to steal some system RAM, which not only reduces the 8GB the prebuilt gives you to about 6 GB usable anyway, but system RAM also tends to be slower (2-16 GB/sec for system RAM vs 10-300+ GB/sec dedicated video RAM, source). Prebuilts all come with a large payload of crapware. It may have better specs, but it won't perform at peak performance unless you find a Windows 7 disc online (Microsoft has them on their site officially), burn the disc, and reformat using the key on the sticker (assuming your prebuilt even comes with one). And the one even computer illiterates can get - your build is cheaper.

My case is going to be sitting on that, once I clean it off. The case I have is a HAF912, they have feet, but I think it's about a 1/2 an inch high.
Is there a way for mediamonkey to show FULL albums instead of grouping them by album artist?
So I was wondering if it would be worth it to get an enclosed liquid cooling system such as the Corsair H60 or Antec 620 for my i5-2500k. I'm using a CNPS 9700 right now but CPUID Hardware monitor is telling me it's idling around 50C. It also produces quiet a bit of noise but not so much that it's unbearable. I'm using the fractal design define R3 if it matters.
I have the Antec 620 and I wouldn't recommend it. My Cooler Master Hyper 212+ with one fan is much better and manages to idle at 44C with a 4.6GHz OC on my 2500k. I've noticed no sound difference between the 212+ and 620.

Uhh, hello, another slightly dumb question. I want to upgrade an old ATX formfactor desktop. The purpose of it was to make a computer better than a prebuilt of a similar price. Components: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130608 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103808 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125342 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817194087 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104206 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148728 comparison I used: http://www.dell.com/us/p/inspiron-620/pd?oc=fddojs16&model_id=inspiron-620 any thoughts?
