I very nearly had a nerdgasm.
That build looks really awesome. Which build is it?
My college only just switched to Office 07... Great, I guess I've got another 4 years of saving files at home in compatibility mode, or I could just do work at college on my netbook with office 2010 Either way, Looks like some quite big changes are happening with the interface, definitely more change than from 03 > 07, which a lot of people complained about.
That build looks really awesome. Which build is it?
4417. It was a bitch finding it, but I did :D
Only 2 pages?
I'd think it would be on the first page... Oh well, I still found it :)
Oooh, i didn't even see that there were skins :o [editline]10:17PM[/editline] Also new icons in HD:
Skins been in there for the last few builds.
Skins been in there for the last few builds.
Couldn't you change the colours in Office 2007 anyway? I'm sure I've seen that.
Looks cool but I'll stick to 2003 just because my school uses it.
Couldn't you change the colours in Office 2007 anyway? I'm sure I've seen that.
The format had changed somewhere through the middle so they weren't usable in some earlier builds. Also Jimmy does this build have Direct3D support?
Does this build have Direct3D support?
It looks like it uses D3D GPU acceleration at least in Powerpoint as the slide transition effects have greatly improved and they use less cpu (2-15%) than in 2007 (up to 50%). The new backend tweaks and animations in Powerpoint look very promising, maybe we'll finally get an office suite that does not run slow on a powerful machine. EDIT: Oooooooh, Powerpoint now (temporarily) saves a copy/draft of your file even if you hit "Don't Save" on exit. Now you don't have to rage every time you hit "don't save" by mistake. :v: This will probably be extended to the other apps eventually.
Also Jimmy does this build have Direct3D support?
I think the technical preview build already had it, but this one definitely does. Also awesome, if you're in PowerPoint and you want to add a graph, PowerPoint will open Excel and on Windows 7 it'll Aero-snap PowerPoint to one side and Excel to the other.

They showed that at PDC08.
I got an email from Microsoft today regarding the Office 2010 Technical Preview and the upcoming Office 2010 Beta.
Hello Chris, Thank you for continuing to utilize, evaluate and provide feedback on the Microsoft Office 2010 Technical Preview. We wanted to notify you the Office 2010 Beta will be available for you to download next month (November 2009). The Beta release of Office 2010 marks the end of the Technical Preview program you currently belong to. We will release the Beta on public download sites, where you can download and install a newer build of Office 2010 client software. At that time, you will also get your first look at the exciting new features we have added to server products such as SharePoint. What this means to you as a Technical Preview Program participant is that the Office 2010 Connect site that you have been using will essentially be shut down and you will be directed to the Beta site (location to be announced) for Beta downloads, product information, links to forums, and more. We will provide you with links to the new Beta site on the current Office 2010 Connect site, but product downloads, articles, product information, and newsgroups currently found there will no longer be available on Connect. In the weeks between now and the release of Beta, you can still access all of the Technical Preview materials on the Office 2010 Connect site. A reminder, you can access connect at http://connect.microsoft.com/office. You can also access product news and updates at http://www.microsoft.com/office/2010/. Thank you for your participation! The Microsoft Office 2010 Team
How do I apply for the beta on the connect website?
I'll probably get the Ad-supported free version. http://gizmodo.com/5377481/bloatfest-microsoft-office-starter-2010-edition-to-have-fcking-ads
