I'd be more concerned with power consumption. [editline]14th March 2011[/editline] Honestly, looking at the specs on paper, I would assume this card is going to overtake the 6990 by quite a large margin.
I always forget power consumption since I don't have to pay electric bills. Oh well.
I always forget power consumption since I don't have to pay electric bills. Oh well.
A hair dryer uses a shitload more power than your computer ever will. [editline]14th March 2011[/editline] Which is one of the reasons I never understood the whole power consumption argument. It's irrelevant.
You want to buy it from the black market then?
No, but you obviously need a lesson on "all but" since you just read it ass inwards.
512 Core GPU? In another word, they're throwing two 580s in there? Also, I like the removable cover design
With lower clocks, yes. If you get this card and overclock it to stock 580 clocks, you will, essentially, have two 580s in SLI.
If I get one I'll need to invest in some solar panels for my computer only : \
Looks like an awesome card.
Is it me or am I getting tired of seeing the money/power jokes? I mean yea they are funny but it's getting old to me. Also, not 100% sure if it's legit, but I do see 2 8pin power connecters and it's bigger than a 580. The article was dated back to January, but I haven't seen those pics before.
could also potentially be a 460 2win
It is.
It is.
But the 460 2win has 3 DVI.
it seems their coming out every few months now damn
it seems their coming out every few months now damn
Sure, If you call the GTX 295 release a few months ago.
But the 460 2win has 3 DVI.
actually the 590 does
actually the 590 does
And so does the 460 2win. You can see them here. http://www.evga.com/articles/00613/
So What would be it's price tag? I'm buliding a new computer and I want to see If I can afford it.
And so does the 460 2win. You can see them here. http://www.evga.com/articles/00613/
and quite visibly in a totally different configuration
And so does the 460 2win. You can see them here. http://www.evga.com/articles/00613/
hmm, interesting.
actually that configuration depicted matches neither the 460 2Win nor the description of the 590, now that i think about it. 3D surround on one card that only has two DVI? i see the display port and the HDMI, but i doubt they'd force you to use more than one kind of output in such a configuration
So What would be it's price tag? I'm buliding a new computer and I want to see If I can afford it.
probably greater than $800. Noticeably less two GTX 580's, but not too much less.
probably greater than $800. Noticeably less two GTX 580's, but not too much less.
Now that it's to 580s I'm going to say $799
but i doubt they'd force you to use more than one kind of output in such a configuration
It's actually rather common on cards from what I've seen.
The GTX 550 Ti was released today. http://blogs.nvidia.com/2011/03/gear-up-for-crysis-2-with-the-new-geforce-gtx-550-ti/ Sounds like a decent card for the price. I have yet to see any reviews.
It's actually rather common on cards from what I've seen.
it is, yes, but note they're highlighting that you can use this one card for 3D surround, which is 3 monitors, in the past you'd need more than one card.

This may be a dumb question, but what is the displayport for? That little port
This may be a dumb question, but what is the displayport for? That little port
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Displayport
This may be a dumb question, but what is the displayport for? That little port
new output hotness that will unfortunately never really catch on. is it being used? yes, obviously so, but not en masse. [editline]15th March 2011[/editline] the only reason it's made it this far is thanks to Apple, though other manufacturers are using it now as well
actually that configuration depicted matches neither the 460 2Win nor the description of the 590, now that i think about it. 3D surround on one card that only has two DVI? i see the display port and the HDMI, but i doubt they'd force you to use more than one kind of output in such a configuration
hdmi -> DVI also I wouldn't run 3d vision surround with only a gig (4602win)
It seems that in the case of video cards you can fit more displayport outputs on the card. That may be one reason manu's tend to use them.
